Looking to upgrade to VIP20 from my current VIP10. I'd go faster if there is one but I want to stick to Unifi, not willing to go for Maxis. Contract ended a few months ago.

The Ja-Jumbo deal is interesting, any other good deals currently?

i think the VIP20 for RM219 (RM30 discount) and with Jumbo pack RM199+60 (free upgrade to VIP20 but needa pay for the jumbo pack) are the current latest best deal from unifi .

Thanks. I'll have to think about whether or not I really need all those channels.

I've heard rumors that TM will offer 50Mbit Unifi for consumers too. I wonder how accurate that rumor is...

Finally got my 50Mbps Unifi installed, Puchong Kinrara area. Submitted request on Friday, installation on Wednesday. As others have mentioned before, 50Mbps down 10Mbps up. Speedtest verified this, other downloads so far from youtube and apple have been fast.

The only problem now is that my Surface Pro 3 doesn't seem to like the new wifi router. My HP and Macbook Air will easily peak at 5.9MBps but the Surface can barely go beyond 1MBps...

Hows the speed on torrent?
*
Haven't tried torrents yet, but if it's the same as downloads then 5.5-5.9MBps. Super fast!

do you need to register a  new account for that?or you can retain your old account as in your old fixed line and etc..thanks  biggrin.gif

Nope, they made me cancel the old account and apply for a new one. Not a big problem for me as I didn't use the old landline much. Just a new one to save on the phone biggrin.gif

Do you mind to perform a speedtest to any Singapore server?
*
Tried it earlier today, most of them will break the 40Mbps limit download, some closer to 50Mbit, some closer to 40Mbit but overall still fast. Ping latency is obviously higher.

Some of my work is US based and was trying servers in the US east coast as well, some actually approach 30Mbps.

Old account contract over?
*
yes I was past the 2-year original contract. I think there's a penalty to cancel your old account if it's less than 2 years.

What's the site for speedtest Singapore server and US server..
*
I tried all the Singapore servers. Fastest was Telin, almost as fast as KL based with ping around 12ms, slowest I can't recall.
US based were in NYC.

Yes that's the one. It's limited to certain areas and even then limited to new accounts or people who've had their Unifi for more than 2 years already.

So far performance for downloads within the regions have been great. 5.5-5.9MB/s which is nice. Torrents are slower, even popular torrents I'm getting around 4.5MB/s only and this is at 5am. No complaints though, that's still 4-5x faster than what I used to get.

I'm hoping that the speed won't go down in July once everyone starts to sign up for this plan...

0.5  Megabits per second - Required broadband connection speed
1.5  Megabits per second - Recommended broadband connection speed

3.0  Megabits per second - Recommended for SD quality
5.0  Megabits per second - Recommended for HD quality
25.0 Megabits per second - Recommended for Ultra HD quality

VIP5 should be enough but on the safer side at least VIP10.

I've had Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu Plus at various times over the years. The speeds above are very dependent on your VPN provider. With BolehVPN I've gotten probably up to SD quality on Netflix, a bit less with Amazon Prime videos. With my work VPN speeds were noticeably faster. This was when I was on VIP10.
