hi,

I just get a promotion from VIP5 -> VIP 10 last week. so now i testing the speed and found out it is the same.

Now i try to test the speed directly via the modem (previously via the wireless) itself. Issue is, i cant connect it via the cable. i have tried LAN1 port and it is working, but my laptop show unidentified connection, hence, no connectivity at all.

then i tried LAN2->4, all port not giving me any signal at all.. as in no blinking light @ my laptop port....
LAN1 got the blinking.... others dont have.

what can i do? coz i cant even connect directly to the modem.

the Wireless modem is connecting to the LAN1... funny... why cant my laptop?

using alcatel lucent i240g

Your laptop can't straight online with connecting to the BTU (or so called Modem).

Hello. Sorry if my explanation is kinda long but...

I want to install a new router (RT-N18U) but I forgot the Unifi PPPoE username and password. When I called Unifi, they said they couldn't look at the password and the only thing they could do is reset it, which they did straight away without telling me until AFTER they had reset the password.

I panicked and thought that the password that I currently have will not work anymore, so I set the new password in the old router setting straight away.

Do I have to do the same and put in the new password for the BTU? If so, how do I even access the BTU?

Thanks in advance.
*
You don't need to access into the BTU to set the password.
BTU is not the one doing PPPOE, it is the router.

Just set it in the router.

Hey guys. I've just installed my unifi today. How do I connect another phone to the Unifi. As I know in the package there's 1 cordless phone provided in the package of the unifi. Previously before Unifi I have 2 cordless phone connected to the same line, 1 located on the 2nd floor another one on the 1st. Both would ring when together at the same time. Now having only one phone is too troublesome. What solutions would you guys suggest?
*
Treat the phone jack out from your BTU as same as ordinary phone jack.

Unifi has launch 30 and 50mb for users . Heard is only available now in certain areas.

No free calls anymore under this new package. Wondering now to upgrade or not..since

Unifi 30mb is RM 199 and Upload speed is just 5mb...

RM199 for 30 Mbps still expensive.
*
Currently 10MB already Rm199...

Hi /k,

On UNIFI billing.
Does anyone experience the GST charge like my case? I have been servicing the GST and the bill promptly on monthly basis amounting to RM 149+RM 8.94 GST =RM 157.94.

Out of no where I have this additional RM 6.92 as GST.  vmad.gif
Kindly advise.

Thanks.
*
It could be pro-rated GST amount due to bill date when GST implemented time.

GST should be calculated from 1/4/2015, but if your bill date is 15th or other date, there is a lapse between 1->14th that GST was not taking into computation in the 15th April bill, so they may add back on one off.
I don't know what is your actual situation, but many did experience the pro-rated GST amount issue.

Seem like the unifi 30Mb package is still not listed on their website.
I was offered to upgrade to 30Mb with Rm199 just few days ago, but due to little info given, and in rush during working hour, so didn't decide it yet.

Will you be able to call back and tell them you would like to take up the offer?

I asked the operator, she said yes that I can call specific number or 100, and refer the issue to "abc" person.

Was offer 30MB today.
Asking them to call me back around 4.30 p.m

1) So, no free landlines call ?
2) My Apartment using VDSL2. Any issue ?
*
VDSL2 theoretically is able to support until 50 Mb/s.

Cool! Thanks for the information. biggrin.gif
So am I right to say that 30Mbps will help a bit on this buffering issue?
*
10M should be more than sufficient to stream HD content (if there is no multiple shared the line),
If cannot stream well in 10M, there may be due to congestion or international routing problem or server location etc, that lead to traffic cannot fully utilise the 10Mb.
So with such bottleneck not at your end, I doubt 30Mb will make much different.

but thats before gst even added....if gst added is around 189 isn't it ? i may as well just get the 30mbps download 5mbps upload package for 199. 210 after gst included. overpriced but at least i'm getting more mbps per ringgit compared to 10mbps. basically only 21 ringgit more, not much for me.

the step up from 30mbps to 50mbps is 22.80 more. tempting but not really bothered. point is 21 ringgit more for 3 times the mbps compared to my current 10mbps. Basically more bang for my buck, even though i still think our broadband is still overpriced.

Here's a chart
http://www.lowyat.net/wp-content/uploads/2...30compare01.jpg
anyway be wary about their 10mbps and 20mbps promotions. you don't want to be locked in without considering first whether you want to go for 30 or 50mbps  smile.gif

those people who previously signed up 20mbps especially recently, just got royally screwed when they noticed the 30mbps and 50 mbps was cheaper than their 20mbps package.
*
It is almost same across many telco's plan or even banking promotion.

Newer customer get promotion sweet deal, while existing customer get nothing, as promotion is always aim to attract new and more customer instead of rewarding existing customer.

Isnt that for copper only with max speed of ADSL2+ @24 Mbits? So how to offer 50/100/1000 Mbits?
Is the fiber network that TM is building now to offer >24Mbits part of that? I don't think so.

By the time they unbundle the copper network, I believe TM would have covered all the major cities with fiber to offer speeds in excess of 24Mbits that they control. Sure, ADSL prices will drop then but it will be like a 1 Mbits Streamyx user today versus people who are on 10/20 Mbits Unifi?
*
Unifi is using VDSL2, not ADSL2+.

Technology has evolved since ADSL era.

VDSL2 maximum speed is 200 Mb (if distance is short), and degrade over the distance to around 50Mb,
So theoretical speed that able to support on Unifi VDSL2 should be around 50Mb.

Why need to terminate when they were the one blasting email to most of its subscribers to upgrade? sweat.gif

I'm waiting for them to call me and since it's Raya now, pretty understandable. I can't wait to upgrade my 10Mbps to 30Mbps. rclxm9.gif

Just hope they won't forget about calling me. laugh.gif
*
This is one of strange upgrade, that need subscriber to terminate before getting newer package.

seems like priority is given for those who received e-mails or calls from them, been called up numerous time to 100, seems like upgrade from there seems acceptable, but i didn't get to, as the CS said that my area in Klang is not supported? Hmm, but I'm already VIP20.
*
Not all unifi area are supported to 30/50 Mb.

Only selected area are being offered to the package.

May be due to port issue or capacity issue?

Based on the news report, 30mbps is available at all areas under UniFi coverage, only 50mbps will depend on area.
*
Ok, thanks for the info.

So how much is the VIP30/50 quota cap stated in the T&C? or does it have?

I knew quota cap is not implemented across, just VIP20/10/5 package does state in the published package details with 120/90/60 Gb cap, but currently unlimited until further notice.

In dilemma, though I don't do it often but it's one of the reasons why I signed up for UniFi.
Previously, I managed to do this with 5Mbps upload, I think I still should be able to if I go for 30Mbps.

Thanks for the information. smile.gif
*
5mbps should be sufficient, unless you intend to video call with 1080p. tongue.gif

can i request TM to place the modem/router and the hypptv decoder in different rooms?
*
You may need to pay for the Rj45 cabling cost,
as TV decoder need to connect wirely with the router.

Swt. Means I need to use wifi to connect to desktop? My desktop no wifi. How ah?

Rj45 can go as far as a few hundred ft, I did it before for my office by pulling the cable to other room, about 50 ft length.

Where do you guys normally go for speedtest? ookla?

Is that accurate? Because for some reason my speed on Ookla is always satisfactory, but during games, the ping tend to be more than 100 (cs)

Can Unifi possibly rig their own speed so that it shows good speed on ookla and thats only for show?
*
Ping time has nothing to do with speed, but server location and response.

here's good news for some of you!

.. shah alam
.. vip10 (10mbps) user for 4 yrs, no more contract
.. hypptv megapack
.. rm199+gst

.. just visited tm point
.. signed up 2 yr contract for unifi30 - 30mbps dwonload, 5mbps upload
.. rm169+gst
.. basic hypptv pack
.. no equipment change except hypptv stb (checking)
.. activation within 48 hrs

even the tm point dealer says the package is very new, some people know, some don't.
says it's all very confusing for customers and themselves! laugh.gif
*
Still nobody knows the quota set for 30M package?

VIP package although quota is not implemented, they do publish the quota of 60/90/120 GB for VIP5/10/20

RM169 surely take 30M, don't need to consider already, cheaper than VIP10.
