I'm currently using Maxshit fibre at JB house, TIME biz at JB office & Unifi at KL
In terms of torrenting on private trackers, no problem at all with Maxshit fibre. Can leech 24x7 if through home connection, downloading from dedi also no problem
The only hassle is it will automatically disconnect to change IP every day or so and there is no way to prevent this from happening..
Yes I agree that Malaysia is all about cronyism. But the same practice had also happened in the rest of the world
Take North America for example, major telcos such as Rogers/Bell in Canada or Comcast in the States had also built their backhaul/dynasty over government regulated monopolies. Many of them actually laid the backhaul infra throughout the country with government grants
Read this article:
http://www.theuncableguys.ca/Who_really_pa...astructure.html So, TM is merely copying what other telcos had done in other places. But our government had taken one step further in eliminating/not allowing competition for TM in the wired sector, and as a result ensuring TM have the biggest/widest backhaul in our country. Other telcos will eventually have to lease bandwidth from TM or use TM gateway as a result. Price of bandwidth TM lease to competitors and also price to general consumers had also remained high
Yes the above does not bring any benefit to the people. I'm not saying I agree nor do I like this
But let's not forget, as a result of the above, TM has the best peering compared to other telcos. From my usage of 3 wired telcos, I find that Unifi give best download/upload speed to my dedi, compared to TIME & Maxshit. There shouldn't be any major difference if the usage is casual browsing/youtube though. Depending on usage but for heavy downloader I would still recommend Unifi over other telcos as-is-where-is
And also recently TM started offering new 30Mbps & 50Mbps packages that is even cheaper than all the current packages. Although this a welcome move, but the coverage is only limited to landed properties in selected Klang Valley areas. And also more importantly TM did not state whether price adjustments will happen to existing packages and existing subscribers, which should be happening
off course cronyism and capitalism is happened everywhere in the rest of the world... i could ever denied that thing... but again, at here TM is very2 clever to make all telecommunication lease to them for the internet..
so you know what happen next... sure another telco going higher and quality drop compare to tm...
but my uni previously using tm infra but slow connection, after upgrade to time telecommunication, the speed was powerful...at that time highest peak i can get is 8MBPS(64mbps)... off course must have some tweak...hehehe
