i wonder y u mention phone? i thought the phone that comes to unifi has a RJ11 connector... can plug a phone to n18u one meh?
unifi phone uses ur internet line :/ notice the phone connected to ur router/btu ? have to vlan tag that also to work
anyway it's VOIP running phone service over broadband

Both VIP10 and VIP20 offer synchronous (same) upload/download bandwidth.
I don't understand why TM sees a need to reduce the upload bandwidth for no apparent reason in their new offerings.
bandwidth cost money. so they take the opportunity to lower upload so u use less bandwidth.
some broadband packages like ftth can ul/dl same speed. but sometimes they intentionally nerf it this way to save on costs .... though the technology itself is not limited in this way like adsl was.
So its advisable to stick with ur current VIP10 or 20MB ?
well dl speed is much more important than ul.
ul is limited usage, most general users wouldn't even notice.
but if your like me and do live streaming on twitch tv, or hosting a NAS from home, then yeah upload is important.
10mbps for me is sufficient. but if you wanna stream 1080p, faster is better, maybe 30mbps ul ?
i'm waiting for the 50/10 ul/dl which is cheaper come september. few people already said they confirm tmnut is having a internet only package with a cheaper price come sept :} so i wait.
Mostly I am using my VIP 10 to download stuff from torrent and hear online radio...hardly upload stuff.

yeah see, thats y ul useless most part. you need some sure even for gaming (cause have to transmit data for online game also even though a little). but most stuff don't need much.
i think even 5mbps is good enough for imgur picture uploads, or email attachments.
totally agreed with you.. i think majority of the people will only consume the download. Even report from Sandvine for usage trending last year shown minimum req for upload usage..
big diff in median and mean shown minority user used significant high upload. so if we have the standard deviation.. more accurate distribution able to derive.
Is that statistic based on people who have 5,10,20 Mbps or more upload bandwidth or mixed with people who only have typical 1+Mbps DSL upload bandwidth?
If people have a glut/big upload bandwidth and didn't use it all then fine. But if they only have 1+Mbps upload, even if they want to use more, they can't. And perhaps they would be using more upload bandwidth if they had it?
well for private torrent tracker membership, if someone actively downloads from that sort of place, then upload is very important. more upload = more ratio so you can download more without getting flagged as a leech (which result in being banned or not able to download )
hi there. seems like you guys are pretty knowledgeable so i wanna ask some question so heres the situation.
my 1st sis is still using 512kbps streamyx of the old days (more than 10 years) and its becoming extremely depressing to use nowadays. so my question is, is it possible to upgrade to 30mbps for just 169 per month? currently my sis is also have fix line number active (but rarely use it). thanks.

Maybe you can try VIP 5 first and after usage for few months, you will get call from them to promote better price for upgrade. That's what I did as well, I knew it so well that I wanted a VIP10 but didn't want to pay for that price. So I signed up for VIP 5 first and true enough 8 months after that, I got a call for VIP 10 at RM 179. I have just upgraded to 30Mbps as well for 199, 7 months after I upgraded to VIP10.

Those are just rumours, I didn't want to wait too and agreed to upgrade now. When the CS called me also started with the RM 219 or 210, I can't recall. I let him finish talking first then asked about 169, he said no such plan because need to bundle with HyppTV, I said OK. Then, I said I know there's this 199 plan, he said yes I can have that. That's how I got the 199 plan.
if get 30mbps now at 199, do you think in september it would be possible upgrade to the NEW 50mbps (with basic hypptv @ 199-210 without being stuck with a penalty) if got ?

I don't think within two months, probably few months after that then will call to offer.
i mean that is there gonna be any penalty upgrading from 30mbps aneka (199) to a 50mbps basic hypttv (199-210) if it does come out ? or is there a penalty

this is the bit that gets you stuck on paying for the current prices for 30/50. assuming that 30/50 non extra is a real deal or not we will have to wait and see.
