One is wheat flour, the other is corn flour. Can't remember which is which, but I'm guessing tortilla is corn since that crop is more prevalent over in Mexico than India.

I once took a group of Taiwanese friends to my fav Indian resto for some roti canai. My yindian brudder put on a fantastic show of flapping and tossing the roti, drawing applause and tips from my guests biggrin.gif

Ergo the main difference is that roti canai is very interesting while tortillas are kinda boring.

BTW, tortillas are made of corn flour while roti canai's made from wheat flour.

Texture yes, taste not really but hard to tell the difference really. Tortilla is eaten stuffed with a chili or something other mexican side dish. Chapati, you wrap around some Indian side dish than dip into dhal.

not much the same, tortilla bigger and softer. chappati smaller and drier.
