Hi all sifu I got a quick question. I just bought a MSI GTX 970 OC tiger last week and have been trying to run it in full load using Heaven Unigine just to test it's performance and temperature. I realize that every time my GPU go full load, the temperature can spike to 80c. Even with custom profile (manual 100% speed), the lowest it goes is 75c.

May I know if I have a faulty product? I have checked some other forums and it seems most GTX 970 owner has lower temperature than mine under full load.

P/S: I don't think it's the airflow, I have tried removing the case side panel, or with table fan blowing towards the GPU, all yields similar results.

80 DEGRESS under full load normal bro, i use to own a zotac 970 80 degress all the time when gaming thats very good already thumbup.gif

Using Zotac here too.

I do find that they should optimize the fan profile a little. It is too easy to reach 80C yet the fan still under low RPM. But of course still prefer they cap the fan speed below 80% max. Anything more than that start sounds like a jet engine...

can sound like jet engine hmm.gif , my 970 was the small form factor got double fan i crank up the fan speed no noise at all. Yeah the fan is small and the rmp is low but consistent at 80 degress under any load condition i guess its ok as long it dont hit the thermal limits and start to throttle down thumbup.gif

Yup, mine same model. Try crank up the fan speed to over 90% and you know what a jet sounds like laugh.gif

I not sure if it start throttle at 80C but it is the fan profile of the card to hit 80C that easily.

If given choice, I will prefer crank up the fan speed to keep it sub80.

I played shadow of mordor 4 hours straight max was 80 degrees, u have nothing to worry, it's a superb gpu Bro just the vram issue but not many games make use of all the 3.5 @1080p.

why don't u make ur own fan profile using msi afterburner
