I gonna give credits to AMD, without Mantle there's no competition for microsoft. Microsoft gonna sit on their lazy ass and punish us PC Gamers not buying their consoles. With Mantle coming out, finally microsoft did something for the API.

cry.gif Except dx12 is available for win10..... those who has win8.1 can upgrade to win10 for free within a year after win10 is out for retail.

Most of us stuck with Win7 >.<

Somehow I really worry about the GTX 980Ti disabled portion of SMM........who knows what nvidia will disable without telling anyone (GTX970 3.5GB+0.5GB)

It is not AMD fanboy problem , however, Its AMD PR problem that creates so much unreal hype .Nvidia Fanboys will never say stuff like Fury X will beat titan X by 20% or even 40% because Nvidia PR handle hype like professional not bunch AMD PR BS.

AMD fanboys cannot expect the fact that AMD has lost this generation and will excuse whatever the facts are.

AMD fanboys need to move on and get a life.

AMD marketing tends to make exaggerated claim. (Bulldozer, Fury X, Mantle, Directx 12, Trueaudio, currently hyping up Zen = only for AMD CEO to say amd plans to stay away from developing for pc market due to its volatility Read here )

Nvidia marketing on the other hand.......tends to 'mess up' specification (970 3.5gb?). Cleaning up every 'bad' comment on its blog and forums.
When nvidia release titan x with 12gb VRAM, I dont see their marketing team promoting it or exaggerating the VRAM benefit as much as what AMD does.

Recently jumped from AMD to NVIDIA camp with a GTX 960 biggrin.gif

Are there any video editing apps that could take advantage of CUDA, such as After Effects?

Take a look here.

if u bought it can u test for me whether it really hit 6GB vram?? so far i didn't see anyone hit above 5.7GB vram if no mistake
*
This card can hit 6GB vram just fine. Those who get 5.7GB forgot about windows AERO is taking a chunk of VRAM in the background as well.

what if we disable AERO? can it hit 6xxxMB vram???
*
Even if you disable AERO, the basic compositing still take up 100-200Mb of VRAM.
Plus google chrome, firefox, safari and internet explorer also uses a bit of VRAM.
Not to mention a certain amount of vram also being used to display a image on your screen.

If you want to properly run the tool, you need to run it in headless mode.

In any case, you dont need to worry about memory segmentation. GTX980Ti doesnt have this issue.
All GTX980TI gpu memory controllers are properly linked to active gpu L2 cache. Only SMM units are being disabled this time.

GTX970 is unique in a sense that all of its memory controllers are perfectly fine, but one of its memory controller it isnt linked directly to the L2 cache. (Probably a segment of L2 cache is defective).
Go read anandtech article on GTX 970 memory segmentation
