Any idea how much it will sell for? I've been looking for an upgrade for my 7850 and as an AMD fanboy, its natural that I'll be looking for and AMD card. But right now nothing beats the GTX970 for my budget and I wonder if it is worth the wait.

Whild the TDP is not really an issue for me, I have only 2 slots to fit in the card since I got a PCIe sound card. And right now most 290x will occupy more than 2 slots.

Judging from the allegedly leaked 300 series benchmarks, it seems that the TDP is quite low and by right a 2 slot cooler should be enough.

Then again, it will only ship out in Q2, I don't know if I can wait that long and I don't know it will be justified since I have no plans to go beyond 1080p 60Hz gaming.

Any thoughts?

More like April at the earliest, Lisa Su confirmed a new card will come on Q2 this year just we don't know which 1 will drop first.

I see... thanks for ur advice. I do think when 4GB VRAM ever become not sufficient, the GPU itself might become obsolete already. Time for upgrade if that happen then lol~

I'm just a 1080p player (Dell p2314H 23" 60Hz ) that do not wish my FPS to drop. Do you think I should just go for 290X lightning or take 8GB vapor X? I guess the former will make better sense at the price point. Plus not really sure my tiny cute 620W PSU (main +12V rail 50A) will be sufficient for 290X lightning or not. It is enough for me to crossfire my HD 7870 previously though, until my ASUS 7870 die off, and I'm still using my leftover Sapphire HD 7870.

my concern with 8GB Vapor X are just at the price point, worse case scenario since i might need to change my PSU, it will make this solution around the price of single GTX 980 from ASUS giga MSI etc. (290X 8GB + CM V1000 PSU = 1660+649=2309; GTX 980 strix = RM 2299; While, 290X lightning + CM V1000 = 1260+649=1909; GTX 980 leadtek=1999 this is the major dilemma i'm encountering       )

PS: I'm unable to claim warranty as the sticker containing serial number dropped and don't know where it flied.

Frankly tell you, my budget max RM2300, final upgrade before GST, plan to use it for some time (at least three years).

Of coz, if possible cheaper the solution is better i can save back my budget. so if I follow this direction, GTX 970 or 290X will be more sensible. As personally I'm a mild AMD fanboy, so emotionally i more toward 290X. But I have read some review state that  GTX 970 shows better performance. For GTX 980, there are a demon inside my heart always telling me to get the best card around (which is GTX 980 for now)

Regard of GTX 980, how do you see minor brand like Leadtek, i just know they are quite low profile and almost all nvidia quadro card i saw were from leadtek just like Sapphire for AMD firepro. Priced at RM1999, will that be better buy compared with major bradn like MSI Giga or ASUS which their GTX 980 priced at 2299 or more

I will go for brands or colour only if all these brands are similar in price and similar in perceived quality . But for some brand like Sapphire for AMD/ATi; Leadtek for Nvidia, they are very less advertised (especially for leadtek,I rarely see anyone using this brand as review subject since GTX 700; Sapphire enjoy very nice review though, especially for their superb GPU cooler). for these brand I just don't know if I should choose them against the major brand which are significantly more expensive. This kind of dilemma always appearing when I did anykind of upgrade (such as, dilemma btw AMD FX 8350 or i5 4670K when I build my current rig, while my 7870 came from my previous rig which was a Core 2 Quad Q9440). For the past, I will always go for the price (thats why I might always choose sapphire for AMD card, and this brand enjoys good review), but now I don't know. As I have never set my eye on nvidia before as past gen AMD card just too good in CP value.

company who made 500k revenue annually = must register GST so can charge customers 6% to claim back the 6% which u pay to the supplier when ur supplier sell you the goods.
company who not register GST = they cannot charge 6% on invoice so cannot claim back the GST by supplier. this kind of company normally will markup higher to cover back the 6%.

example:
distributors sell Company A (GST) and B (non GST register company) the product with cost RM100 + 6% GST = RM106
Company A sell RM130+6% = RM137.80 to end users (Najib collect RM7.80-RM6 =RM1.80 from company A)
*get profit RM30
Company B sell RM130 to end users (he cannot back the GST charge by supplier)
*get profit RM24 (RM130-RM106) if he want to sell at same price.

these are just basic for the GST theory. the only affected the market is the SRP will increase from RM130 to RM137.80.
alot of things now we pay with Service tax, the service tax will change the name to GST so the price remain the same (KFC, etcs)

now, computer products price up, not becoz of GST, but the currency exchange rate. u can imagine the rate is raise up from RM3.1 to RM3.65 (highest is RM3.7) - look at the Selling TT/OD column

Malaysia doesn't produce computer parts, all import from oversea, even the Dell manufacture in Penang import the parts from oversea but assembly local.

Fluctuations in exchange rates (to higher) will benefits if export. if rate drop to lower then it will benefits if import.
exmple USD250 for a GTX960, the reasonable price is RM775, but due to the currency exchange rate now, the price became RM900 something.

another good things for GST is, the sales tax changed to 6% from 10%. when you do import, not every items will get 10% sales tax and 10% import tax, i know powersupply, casing, cooler got sales tax, others i not sure.
so some of the computer products "maybe" will cheaper. During the GST period, all the expenses like transport fees also has 6% so we cannot assume all price will cheaper 4%.
