QUOTE(gchowyh @ Apr 24 2015, 12:18 AM) Yes, PB customer. She did not promise crediting interest, only say managed to change that I will get after 12 months. I feel she is making up stories to avoid putting maybe abit more effort solving my issue. Anyone knows what is BNM's contact to make such complains? bnmtelelink@bnm.gov.my

Some time ago, I received sms from UOB about getting a Luminarc Dinner Set with minimun deposit of 60k. Anyone know whether this is for FD or CASA? add: just found the T&C. It is for CASA http://www1.uob.com.my/assets/pdf/tnc/casa160315_tnceng.pdfThis post has been edited by Human Nature: May 4 2015, 12:05 PM

QUOTE(Bonescythe @ May 4 2015, 01:26 PM) Dam not worth... Let's say 50k earmark for 3 mths. If FD is 4%, that is 2k a year, and almost 166 per mth.. And that Cabin bag only worth like 100+ And u need earmark for 3mths... using 500+ to exchange stuff that is worth 100+ Yup, was hoping it is for FD

Big musical chair day. Consolidated matured FD from BR, Ambank and CIMB to UOB 4.2% 12 months.
Found out that in UOB, it is possible to do partial upliftment (losing interest for the uplifted amount) even if the FD is in a single statement.

QUOTE(smas @ May 5 2015, 05:34 PM) I'm going to do mine as well @ UOB tomorrow Good to know about partial upliftment. Having said that, lets say I have 50k to put in FD, is it advisable to split it into 2 FD (25k each) eventhough within same bank? I usually split into several certs if the amount is large, just as 'insurance'.

QUOTE(bbgoat @ May 5 2015, 06:07 PM) Some time last year UOB has been asking me NOT to split FD as they have this partial uplift policy. So no need to split FD into too many different ones on the same day. Haha yeah. I wanted to split into 4 certs so that's why the lady informed me about this. End up, I still split into 2. Easier to keep track of whose money belongs to who for joint accounts

QUOTE(MoneyMaker prince @ May 5 2015, 08:34 PM) Can I know what is partial upliftment? You can withdraw portion of the money while still earning the interest? Let's say the FD amount is 100k. You can uplift 40k partially, means you lose the interest for this 40k. You will get a new statement stating 60k (no change to duration or rate).

QUOTE(smas @ May 7 2015, 01:32 PM) All, I went to bank yesterday to deposit my FD and was told to open a FD account since I don't have one. The counter was closed after account opened and bank officer explained to me that they will deposit my banker cheque to the account the next day (today), and I'll be able to collect the FD cert today (there is no slip/proof received yesterday). Since it is a banker cheque with my name and IC, I think it should be fine to leave it there. But I started to feel a little bit insecure today when I woke up since it is a banker cheque but not personal cheque that withdrawn from current account, and I didnt received any proof on the spot. Bank officer called me moment ago and said that I can collect the cert already. My question is: What are the things that I need to check to ensure the amount in banker cheque is fully deposited into FD account? just check on the slip, amount, rate? Sorry for the lousy question here, this is my first paper FD. All the while was using eFD. Just check whether the $ in the FD cert is the same as the $ in your bankers' cheque. Also check details like name, IC, tenure, interest rate, starting date and the standing instruction (renewal at maturity method).

QUOTE(smas @ May 7 2015, 06:41 PM) is it normal that UOB FD slip doesnt contain any signature from bank or branch manager? Other bank seems to have one.. Yes, it is just a simple slip. All will be consolidated to one statement.

QUOTE(bbgoat @ May 17 2015, 07:34 PM) This small fry went to the BR function. Swarmed by rich uncle & aunties. About 10 tables. Only customers of the BR branch that the small fry is using. More than 90% Chinese as it is in Penang town area. Door gift is bath towel. HQ one VP was there. Asked him why no more banker's cheque issued and told him customers running away due to this reason. During Q & A, the VP said now the BM decided that he will issue banker's cheque. Surprise, surprise ! It was posted that BR will stop issuing cheque starting Jan 2014 (or 2013 ?), they posted a notice on their board at that time. Then someone asked about no PIDM. The VP answered that it was guaranteed by the government on the principal amount. Then someone asked how about the amt. The reply is irrespective of the amt !! Wow ! Food wise, reasonable not bad. Received lucky draw prize, first time from BR. they issued banker's cheque to me two times dy
