There are some moar good Eva manga. Evangelion, girlfriend of steel is an alternate dimension story of what would happen to the world if it was like the one in Shinji's dream during the last episode

Watch the end of Eva movie. It was supposed to be the ORIGINAL ending for the series, but they changed it in the end. Now, watch as Shinji go beserk seeing Asuka's death. PAUSE. Open the last episode and watch it. After the ending, resume the movie. Now you have successfully become an EVAtard

Summary
End of Eva movie (shinji Beserk scene) ==> Last ep of series (it's happening at the same time in his mind) ==> he choose humanity ==> end of eva (resume) ==> PROFIT!!!

From what i understand, there are 2 endings.

1. The original ending is episode 25 and episode 26, which Shinji has killed Kaworu Nagisa (the last angel) and it became an odd-looking episode which depicted only the internal world of the hero Shinji Ikari. Although that was fulfilling for the main theme, the drama of the characters and further development of the Eva world were left unfinished as the story ended.

2. The End of Evangelion is a continuation of episode 26 due to popular demand, the ending is that Rei became the angel and the inevitable 3rd impact happened. Everyone dies except for Shinji and Asuka.

I got my hand on the unreleased version of ep 24 and 25 (director's cut), and during the preview for the next episode, they originally wanted to show the "End of evangelion" scene. but due to Anno being somewhat bengang with the fans, he decided to make another one. End of Evangelion was actually made with materials of the original ep 25 and 26.

Not sure it will be nice since the original anime has already ended, dont think there will be much room for continuation

memang this anime is based heavily on the bible and christianity. There's alot of character development in the anime rather than action. I think the third impact is somewhat resembles doomsday/judgement day/end of the world

it could probably be something like you see in Mai Hime and Mai Otome - same characters, different plot + storyline...

ayanami was not even human, she was the clone of Ikari Gendou's wife Yui with lilith's DNA (or was that Adam...). Remember that for a pilot to be in sync with the eva, the eva itself must have a connection with the pilot.
EVA 01 - Shinji's mom
Eva 02 - Asuka's mom
As Ayanami has the same DNA, she can sync, but not that good. Kaworu is an angel, an has about 99% the same DNA as Adam. thus he can sync with any Eva

the EVAs' core contains the soul of relatives close to the pilots
it is said that EVA 03 contains the soul of Touji's mom.

have been reading up to vol 2 some times ago and I think I've already forgot the story

@gundam wing. Actually, EVA03 did not have the soul of Touji's mum. He can sync because it was infected by an angel. remember that all of the persons in the class are potential EVA pilots. He was chosen by random by SEELEE for EVA03, compared to Ayanami and Shinji (Gendou), and Asuka Souryuu (she was already a pilot in germany)

Ya, it was said that Touji was selected randomly by Seele, but i doubt its really random at all

It seems that all pilots have complicated backgrounds and personalities. Shinji suffers from the loss of ther mom and lack of love from his father, he has low self esteem and always wanting to please other ppl. Asuka suffers from the loss of her mother as well, arrogant and competitive. Rei is not a human at all, and she has no emotions (except with Gendou). Touji hates EVA because his sis was injured during the battles.

The thing is, EVA03 was new, while 01 and 02 was made a long time ago, and it was handled by both the mothers of Shinji and Asuka. Thus i doubt Touji's mom was at the helm of EVA03's development.

Touji agreed to become an Eva pilot cos the program promise to take care of his sister.

but this comic really... seeing shinji and gendo like this... priceless.
