there you go natch.. he answered it perfectly.. its part and parcel of achieving enlightenment. Its a "side effects" if you want to put it that way. But to be honest, i dont really like the terms "side effects". I personally believe its part of the journey as i known some "ppl" actually "preach" or talked to sentient beings so "they" can learn and gain merits and enuf merits for rebirth. It is written that only human realms can "learn" and gain enlightenment easily. The other realms requires human intervention like "preaching" to them and stuff. And since "we" are suppose to help "them".. i believe that the 5 special "side effects" are needed. And ability to see them is one of the 5 mentioned. So, i think it is needed. Plus if you need to "communicate" with any of the heavenly being (or hell beings in this case) you will need one of the 5 abilities mentioned anyway. So, why do you "prevent" or shun ppl from achieving it? that where i felt its funny...

The average man on the street is not physically or mentally equipped to deal with ghosts during intermittent encounters, let alone on a constant basis.

Many of these wretched creatures are half-crazed from pain, anger and grief - completely incapable of rational thought and unable to listen to reason, which makes them extremely dangerous.

The job of handling them, be it via preaching, subjugation or whatever, should be left solely to spiritual professionals.

I don't know how many people with the second sight you have encountered who have suffered, sometimes even died, as a result of their affliction.

I have.

Trust me, it's not pretty.

As for the attainment of enlightenment, there are plenty of virtuous, enlightened individuals around who possess no unearthly powers whatsoever, the second sight included.

Most mediums do not have supernatural abilities, nor do they require them to commune with their divine patrons; my teacher certainly didn't.

You do not need the second sight to achieve enlightenment; focus instead on being a good person.

QUOTE(Haylo @ Dec 6 2015, 06:39 PM)
Nachtsider, can help ask Tua Li Ya Pek, does the phrase Amitabha really work?

In Buddhism, uttering this phrase can help end suffering for poor souls and bring them to the "Pure Land" and study Buddhism with Amitabha Buddha.

If the people with third eye are correct, a lot of souls in agony are around us.

So theoretically, if I utter Amitabha 24/7 with sincerity for these suffering souls, will I be salvaging a lot of souls? Does it really work?

If not, in Sintuaism what can I help to alleviate the suffering of those wandering soul?
*
If things were so simple, everyone would have attained Nirvana a long, long time ago.

The Pure Land school is but one branch of Buddhism, by the way, whose teachings are not something all Buddhists agree with or subscribe to.

Let's try to keep things on track; this isn't a Buddhism discussion thread.

You want to alleviate their suffering, participate in salvation rituals for them and contribute offerings.

Contact your local temple or sintua and ask them what you can do to help.

Is Sintuaism still prevalent in China? I asked some Chinese mainlanders and it seems to me that they are blur about this practice. Is it because of Cultural Revolution?

What was Sintuaism like in Imperial China? Does it receive patronage just like Buddhism did? Or was it confined to Fujian province only?
*
Chinese folk religion is practically extinct in China, no thanks to Communism. Most mainlanders are atheists.

Sintua is and always has been a religion of the common folk. It was quite widespread in ancient times; some sintua deities received imperial support, but certainly not all.

Hi nacht,
A quick question, have u ever seen that medium on trance by 大二ah pek vomitting ancient coins? Or dice ? Does it hold any special meaning ?
*
I can't say I ever have, although coins (symbols of prosperity/wealth) and dice (symbols of fate, luck and chance) certainly are objects associated with the Black and White Brothers.

Perhaps they were 'producing' these items as good luck charms to offer deserving devotees.

A video from indonesia , tanjong batu kota

almost all the mediums display the zombie walk , which is common in hellish deities when in trance
Undead beings do not ambulate as we do. wink.gif

Here is another good video that showcases their shambling walk; a perfect example can be seen from 0:46-0:59.

not sure if you have heard of "BanYuenChai" or not

I visited him in last year to seek his fortune telling service, he was using a rather unique way, eg first, you will need to write down your chinese name on a piece of paper, then, he will take that piece of paper and started to draw something, after which he will hold your hands, while looking into your eyes, and start telling you things

his office has a few buddha statues as well as 关帝

when he start to talk to you about your past and future, his face really looks like 关帝

he is benevolent and stern at the same time, funny thing is he let me record the entire session without issues.
*
This is not a fortune telling thread.

Doesn't sound like he's a medium who channels deities.

Hi, can tell me more about this 3 deity?

The deity in the centre is known as Ruan Gong Sheng Fo/阮公圣佛 or Sagacious Buddha Ruan. He was a devout Buddhist who attained enlightenment barely into his mid-twenties, and, after his deification, became famous for aiding several emperors, including healing a serious eye illness in one emperor, warding off a terrible fire that raged another emperor's capital city and helping yet another emperor repel a foreign invasion.

The deity on the left is known as Wen Shi Zhen Xian/文氏贞仙 or Chaste Immortal Wen. She is a guardian goddess of the people of Si Hui County in Guang Dong, being particularly efficacious in bringing rain in times of drought.

The deity on the right is known as Liang Gong Sheng Fo/梁公圣佛 or Sagacious Buddha Liang. He was a disciple of Ruan Gong Sheng Fo, a young preacher who was well known for being a selfless philanthropist.

This one rare deity.  thumbup.gif
Indeed; they're fairly obscure.

The only temple I'm aware of where they're worshiped is in Kepong (KL).

Any link between 3 of them other than the master-disciple? Why are they being prayed together?
*
Two of them, the Buddhas, are master and disciple, as previously noted.

The third one, the goddess, is a matron goddess of Cantonese people from a particular region in the old country, like I have mentioned - I believe the temple's founder has ancestry that links back to there, and reverence for her probably runs in his clan for generations, hence her inclusion.

She has no links to the other two per se, but it is not uncommon for several unrelated deities to be enshrined on the same altar.

hi nachtsider,

do you have any idea where to get the list of heaven and hell deity ?
*
A list of every single Chinese god and goddess would be extremely long - too long to fit here.

Ask me about a specific deity and I will provide you with as much information as I can about him or her.

How come some people very powerful after possessed by deities? They can see your past, present, future and reveal very small details about you without even knowing you? Are they really possessed by deities or is this their own abilities?
*
If they had such abilities innately, they wouldn't need to become mediums or even pretend to be mediums, now, would they?

They could just become clairvoyants in their own right.

Or any books to purchase or where will i get the info?
*
The book you see me reading in the photo below is a good place to start.

It is called 'Chinese Gods: The Unseen World of Spirits and Demons', authored by Keith Stevens.

The volume features most of the well-known and some of the not-so-well-known Chinese folk religion deities, and contains plenty of pretty pictures.

Well worth the effort to source and the money to purchase. smile.gif

In that case, are those really deities or "something" else?
Impostor entities will not be able to produce concrete results, the same way a fake doctor cannot really treat the sick.

The proof is in the pudding.

I think you underestimate the power of a true deity, which extends beyond clairvoyance.

It is not easily matched by impostor entities, who in any case have no interest in aiding mortals, just in exploiting and preying upon them.

Maybe they are aliens? Also from the sky, live among the stars.
They dont want to make us panic and just doing some experiment using possession?
*
Aliens have no need for such rigmaroles.

I mean, look - there are TONS of popular comic books, video games and movies that feature aliens in some form or other.

The public is more than prepared to face the reality of an alien presence head-on, with no need to pussyfoot around the issue.

QUOTE(Starbucki @ Dec 16 2015, 01:29 AM)
Who are the most aesthetically fearsome deities, in your opinion?
*
Here's one.

Who is the Great Protector?

The story of Tai Bao Ye/太保爷, the Great Protector, is a very Batman-like tale, in that he was orphaned when his entire family were murdered by demons, and that being consumed by anger and grief almost turned him into a wild, wayward being of darkness.

Fortunately, Lord Zhang the Serpent-Queller (whom I have discussed earlier in the thread) took him under his wing and taught him to control his emotions and prevent them from consuming him entirely.

After learning the mystic arts from Lord Zhang, he distinguished himself via numerous acts of demon-slaying found employment within the Netherworld pantheon, rising to become a captain of the Hellish armies.

Although he is firmly on the side of good, the mostly-dormant rage within him occasionally manifests as outbursts of near-bestial ferocity and battle frenzy.

This is why some statues of him are depicted as being fairly human looking, while others look quite savage and monstrous.

He is always depicted with magical axe held high in one hand, the severed heads of his foes in his other hand, and a vanquished foe crushed under his left foot.

lol, how would you know what aliens want or think? What is rational to us may not be to them, since they are so advance in thinking and culturesweat.gif
The bolded part is a big assumption.

For all you know, they merely want to enslave us or have us for dinner.

Any significant meaning if deity appear in the dream? Has anyone had that experience before?
*
I've experienced this plenty of times.

Such dreams do not necessarily mean anything, unless (1) a clear message was imparted within the dream or (2) events that relate to the dream or lend greater significance to it subsequently happen in the real world.
