U got keep record of profit (in Ringgit figure) as at 31 Dec 2013 or not?

If no...then tricky a bit sweat.gif

hmm.gif

Your portfolio VALUE as at 1 Jan 2014 is your (reset) COST for year of 2014.

Portfolio value as at 31 Dec 2014 - (Portfolio value as at 1 Jan 2014 + Total amounts invested/(withdrawn) during 2014) = Profit for 2014

E.g. portfolio value as at 1 Jan 2014 is RM10,000
During 2014 u total/net pumped in RM3,000
At 31 Dec 2014 your portfolio value is RM15,000
Profit during year 2014 is thus RM2,000

ROI = RM2,000 / (RM10,000 + RM3,000/2) x 100% = 17.4%

China market still offers good growth potential! Buy! biggrin.gif

Just updated my portfolio with November fact sheets from CIMB-Principal and Eastspring Investments (Affin Hwang and Aberdeen Islamic yet to publish their November fact sheets shakehead.gif )...

CIMB Global Titans deployed most of their cash during November, now my US+Europe+Japan equity exposure have increased to 30% (finally!).

My current equity funds allocation:

31% Eastspring Investments Global Emerging Markets

17% Hwang Select Asia Quantum
8% Hwang Select Opportunity
11% CIMB Asia Pacific Dynamic Income

17% Aberdeen Islamic World Equity
16% CIMB Global Titans

As at 30th December valuation, my UT portfolio gained 4.6% (only doh.gif ) during 2014.

An interesting point to note - fund size of CIMB Asia Pac Dynamite Income have gone up to...RM1 BILLION sweat.gif

Hey, I need help to answer my dad..

After sawing in the news about 1MDB defaulting on the loan, RHB Bank has a 32.41% on it.

He asked if RHB bank go bankrupt? and take down CMF ? As it's not insured by PIDM.

I really don't know the answer for this either, sorry for the noob Q.

Assets of unit trust funds are separated from assets of the fund management company. Remember your fund Trustee?

QUOTE(aurora97 @ Jan 7 2015, 06:31 PM)
To add.

There’s a lot of misconception just because the Fund is named after a particular FM, it is owned by that FM including everything (+liabilities) in it etc… That’s not true.

In a trust structure, the FM is merely employed to manage the Fund in return for a fee.

Another interesting fact to add on, the Fund is self-sustaining even if the trustee goes bust. Only downside, the accounts will be in a mess just like Lehman's when it went bust.

Assuming super paranoia mood.

My 1-month FD giving 3.55% (effective rate about 3.6%) but CMF is already giving 3.71%…

What’s the only reason to NOT move?

PIDM? All hell break loose? Putting too much money with FSM? Laziness?
