QUOTE(polarzbearz @ Feb 26 2015, 12:11 PM)
Simplified yes correct, but mathematically wrong tongue.gif

Assuming your 7% gain is ROI - means that if I invest RM1000, I get RM70 profit = 7% ROI.

Sample --> Sales charge at 2%
Purchase NAV Price = RM1.00 per units. Total units held = 980.39 (after deducting 2% SC). Valued at RM980.39.
Current NAV Price =  RM1.0914 per units. Total units held = 980.39. Valued at  RM1,070.00.

Profit = RM70.00. ROI = 7%.

However, if we were to assume there was NO SALES CHARGE with the purchase of the same fund, with the same unit price increments....

Sample 2 ---> Sales charge at 0%
Purchase NAV Price = RM1.00 per units. Total units held = 1000.00 (no SC). Valued at RM1,000.00.
Current NAV Price =  RM1.0914 per units. Total units held = 1000.00. Valued at  RM1,091.40 .

Profit =  RM91.40. ROI = 9.14%.
So I don't think you can directly +2% on your nett ROI.

And then again, there's no logic to deduct out the SC and include it as your gain because it is not your gain to begin with. It's a "fee / additional surcharges" incurred for investing. My point being, they've already calculated the nett profit for you, why you want to convert it back to "gross profit" again?
*
cause kan.. if u get like 0.57% SC you feel better maa.. more money invested

One of the things you really, really, really, need to learn is to IGNORE dividends, because they make no difference. In fact, they are not called "dividends", because they are distributions.

Why? To start your enlightenment, start reading from post no. 1. Read it, digest it, and get educated. Pink has it all explained.

QUOTE(Celestine @ Feb 27 2015, 10:37 AM)
Hello everyone, i'm new in fund investment. I came across this nice forum and was any experts out there have any advice in my portfolio. The following are my portfolio (have invested around 5 months):
1) Kenanga Growth Fund (53%)
2) CIMB Asia Pacific Dynamic Income Fund (39%)
3) Eastpring Investments Small-Cap (8%)

So far I'm quite pleased with CIMB and KGF fund, though KGF fund can be very volatile ie during times of OnG crash, it went to as low as 0.93 and i missed the chance to top up during that time:(  any advice where i can add in more? I'm looking for aggressive, at least 10% return per annum. would greatly appreciate advice on this. Thanks:)

U need some Developed Markets exposure

and, "at least 10% return per annum"...that is not realistic. U need to adjust your expectations. Do not be spoiled by spectacular gains of recent years. It's not sustainable.
