polarzbearzI think instead of using your initial allocation as to determine your geographical allocation of your unit trust portfolio, IMO it’s better to use CURRENT FUND VALUE to determine. That’s what you are holding right now and where your money is NOW or as at latest fact sheet. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « 1) Sheet4 B38 should be portfolio value 2) Sheet4 Column B should equal investment detail column D 3) Also existing worksheet there’s a mistake. CIMB = E6, AMB Income Trust = D11. Different column la.

QUOTE(yklooi @ Jan 23 2015, 11:01 AM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « i think no need to amend in Post#1. I think, once polarzbearz amended the file in the Dropbox...the links in Post #1 never changed thus anyone download from post #1 will get the revised version. i think after having read some post from user like woonsc and adele seems like need to do too many adding and inserting of lines and after that needs to make some changes to the formula...NOT that user friendly for old uncles and newbies.... anyway to put the "results" on the top lines and then format all those lines below it...so that can keep on continue input on the lines without having to insert lines? just a thought.. don't worry uncle, i actually just suggesting to him to make changes, shouldn't affect the actual user. i'm super free at work, so took the time to analyse it, if any mistakes la. main priority is of course still trying to make life easy. otherwise, too complicated, defeats the purpose of the spreadsheet. woonsc i would do it for free, if i have the expertise to create an almost flawless and user friendly spreadsheet. i remember looking at wong sifu spreadsheet that he shared, walao,

QUOTE(woonsc @ Jan 23 2015, 11:43 AM) Haha Headache.. wait tmrw laah.. if you want to know » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « ABS is short for absolute. absolute amount, turn -ve to +ve. the intention of polarbear is to calculate your initial cost investment, the actual money invested, take the SC amount away. to calculate the 'entrance' value, which pinky did not have in his spreadsheet. anyway, best to pm polarbear. this is turning into an excel discussion. also, part of the intention of the spreadsheet is to avoid you keying in too much info, just the relevant one which is price and investment amount. even the units doesn't need to be inserted manually by the user. though such intention results in alot of question asking and polarbear is still relatively unfamiliar with certain investment thingy... PS: why am i so free to answer this...

2) but... QE by europe... euro down down down... so... i'm investing as a foreign investor... so i hope the stock gains outweigh the currency drop?
i'm wondering if i should have top up AIWEF or not... in hindsight i should have on saturday... but ya... any enlightments? not on whether i should or should not, just logical explanation?

polarzbearz and for those using the spreadsheet and had experienced unit splits. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Add transaction type “Unit Split”. Then units column, add another if. If(transaction type=”unit split”, unit manual adj,…)
This is the best way I can think of since unit split can come in different ratios.
Those who experience unit split, will have to manually key in additional units (as viewable from monthly statement by FSM)

QUOTE(xuzen @ Jan 29 2015, 03:07 PM) Bond is actually a very interesting asset class especially when you get to calculate its duration, modified duration, convecity and its IRR. Buidling a portfolion of bond is as complex if not more complexs than equity fund. Xuzen yup... i learnt that during some finance classes back in uni. but... interesting as a job... as an investor not really. lol.

QUOTE(repusez @ Feb 9 2015, 12:45 PM) anyone understand how the "chart my fund" in the fsm website works, there's a "my initial fund allocation" and "my current fund allocation" , when is initial , one month ago, one week? i see only little difference between the initial and current. Initial means the amount you invested. not sensitive to time. it's your cost according to FSM holdings table. and unless one fund drops 20% and the other goes up by 20%... the % allocation isn't gonna change much to make the pie charts look any different.

QUOTE(moon0610 @ Feb 10 2015, 01:37 AM) Hi all, this is my first time here Wish to seek advice from u all on CIMB Global Titan Fund. I'm interested in this fund, as i do not have any funds in global market (currently malaysia & asia pacific). Checked the price history via FSM and it's at 0.744. Do you guys think it is too high to go in at the moment? Thanks! if you look closely... it's only US + Europe + Japan (if you haven't realised). not so "global". but since you already have asia pacific, i guess makes sense too. so, i think the question you should ask is, is it a good time to invest in these market?
