Okay. I may need to wait until end of the month before properly playing. Need a new graphic card. sad.gif That said however even on the most lowest setting it's beautiful.

I've read that the new graphic (texture) quality requires more VRAM.

Hi guys!

There’s a few threads popping up with people worried about their kit running the game, we just wanted to clear up a couple of misconceptions that might help you out.

1) The “Recommended Spec” is not the spec that is required to run the game on full max quality settings at 1440p. It is a spec which we believe gives you a good experience of the game as we’d recommend it is played. If you have better hardware you will get better results.

There are 5 quality presents you can select in Total War: ATTILA (you can always go into ‘Advanced’ and tweak yourself of course).

‘Max Performance’ – integrated chipsets and older cards
‘Performance’ – low end cards
‘Quality’– mid range cards
‘Max Quality’ – high end cards
‘Extreme Quality’ – future cards – no card is set to this out of the box

The official “Recommended Spec” is pegged to the ‘Quality’ setting at 1080p ‘out of the box’.

‘Extreme Quality’ also activates 4XMSAA, which will have a particularly big performance impact. Please note, that the ‘Extreme Quality’ setting is meant for future graphics cards, not for current gen. This is why it's above Maximum Quality.

2) The Min and Rec specs are higher than ROME II, it is a new game that is going on two years more recent and is based on a newer iteration of our TW Engine. As a result it is more demanding, if you ran ROME II at a certain combination of settings, ATTILA will be different. If you have high end kit though, ATTILA will certainly look more impressive.

Note also that the ‘Extreme’ setting is not the same in each title.

3) There has been work done on performance and optimisation since the review build. How much that might effect your particular spec though we wouldn’t be able to say.

4) The way the game handles texture resolution has changed. In ROME II it was tied to the quality setting. In ATTILA it is based on available VRAM.

Finally, make sure you update all your drivers to the latest versions before you play on Tuesday, that is likely to make a huge difference.

So far played 3 hours straight, no errors, lags, ctds on mine.

Game plays beautifully, definitely better than Rome2.

That's how most games are going these days. Expect more heavier VRAM requirements for your games. Evolve is also another one. Which is why I think I'm gonna bite the bullet and go with a GTX 970. Hopefully the thing can fit into my mobo sweat.gif

Damn the battles are hard even on normal setting. sad.gif Not long after I send my longboats filled with warriors to sack WRE lands, the Angles come knocking at my door. They should go to Britain ! Not Skandinavia !

It's freakin' great. But I still need a new GPU. The default setting gives me Performance status (Low) but I push them all on Max Performance (Lowest) except unit sizes on Ultra (never played units lower than the highest settings). First battle against the invading Angles (why didn't they go to Britain ?) was against 1 and 1/2 stack of their armies. What vanilla Total War games have you played your first battle against 30 units ?

The battles are basically about the same as Rome II (EE) though. The campaign however is great. The family tree is not just for the show like RTW or M2TW. It took nearly an hour for me before I click the first End Turn button. There's so much to do and read when the campaign starts.

The political side is much like Rome II but with Shogun 2 style graphs so you'll get to see who you assign as Governors and you get to choose as companions from non family members (other nobles). They will be like your protegee (or someone who got potential to stab you in the back later. smile.gif)

I only play about 5 or 6 turns in nearly 12 hours of playing (I did let the game run AFK to get the drop down cards though. It's selling quite well last time (about $0.50 each). The prologues is also great. Haven't done that yet, only half way. It's more like a small campaign in itself, much better than Rome II or Shogun 2 Prologue/Tutorial.

That said, you'll need a monster rig to fully enjoy the game because good game with shitty graphic can never be great. sad.gif

Highest setting ? Max Quality you mean ? Tak ada kot. Kena wait for AMD 300 series or next nVidia offering. With 760 or 770 you'll need to mix and match. Maybe tone down some things to keep some on high. Usually I keep units and building details on highest possible while the rest are set lower. Unless you get a fetish for clear blue detailed skies and grass you can set those low. Anyway, shadows should always be kept on medium as always eat fps even on 4790k and 780ti.

p/s: I can't access TWc from the office but you can go there and on Attila section there's the tech area where people are posting their benchmarks. You can get better impression of what you can expect from current hardwares.

Those who have not buy but intended to buy may check some resellers as few of them still sticked the preordered keys so you'll get Viking DLC for free too. There's one of the stickied TWC thread title someting about best Attila prices can check the links. Anyway most of the time buying from Steam Malaysia is much cheaper than those European retailers that gives 20% discount though.
