hi guys , planning to change to my stock rim and tyres (205/55R16) to R18. did some research/calculation and it recommended me to go for options below if want to have same comfort as previous one.
http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible_pg4.html#slr. New spec %diff 125/70R18 0.13 215/40R18 -1.20 225/40R18 2.35 245/35R18 -1.42 255/35R18 1.69 285/30R18 -1.64 295/30R18 1.02 305/30R18 3.68 Im thinking of choosing option 225/40R18 , but wondering if i can expand the diameter a bit to 225/"45"R18 to make look just nice fit with the fender. plus im also wondering if 225 is a good tyre width not to exceed the bodyframe (im not a fan of tyres looking popped out from the side body) any sifus experienced using 18 inch wheel are welcome to advise. QUOTE(HeReLiSm @ Jul 19 2015, 09:57 PM) guys, wanna ask something, have you perform any ECU/TCU software update at the center? in my case, the SC in shah alam i need to update coz i bought the car before the update was release. so they update the software during the service. problem solve.sometimes my car when I want to start it, either in cold (in the morning) or hot (after ride) it got hard to start. The RPM will ramp up to >1000rpm before going to to <1000rpm and died off. But only happened sometimes and not regularly. I am sending my car to 60k services soon, and would like to address this problem. What is the cause of the problem? is it the timing belt setting, or throttle body? my friend said it caused by the throttle body. This post has been edited by tebong: Jul 20 2015, 05:20 PM |

QUOTE(tebong @ Jul 14 2015, 03:21 AM) hi guys , planning to change to my stock rim and tyres (205/55R16) to R18. did some research/calculation and it recommended me to go for options below if want to have same comfort as previous one. Just went to some rims shop and ask for 18" rims. i find it most of the salesperson/mechanics very consultative as they first always ask me why would i want to go 18" and not 17". even tho i said got money to buy but they always advise me be practical. pickup will be very slow , tyre will worn out faster. so i thank them for the advise and i hold first as need to rethink. I leaning towards follow their advise but would like opinion from members here. so far (i think) i've seen only two pic with 18" rims - 1 from proton sapphire pic and 1 from works engineering page- both used as car show only. but i have never seen one actually on the road.http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible_pg4.html#slr. New spec %diff 125/70R18 0.13 215/40R18 -1.20 225/40R18 2.35 245/35R18 -1.42 255/35R18 1.69 285/30R18 -1.64 295/30R18 1.02 305/30R18 3.68 Im thinking of choosing option 225/40R18 , but wondering if i can expand the diameter a bit to 225/"45"R18 to make look just nice fit with the fender. plus im also wondering if 225 is a good tyre width not to exceed the bodyframe (im not a fan of tyres looking popped out from the side body) any sifus experienced using 18 inch wheel are welcome to advise. to guys out there that have tried 18" tyre/rim, is it really that bad experience/performance as what they say? oh yeah by the way , i'm using Preve 1.6 EXECUTIVE MANUAL stock engine.
