any idea what is the brand of airbag our preve is using? Takata seems to be a problem now as a lot of car brands being recalled for its airbags.

QUOTE(terryble @ May 27 2015, 08:52 PM) hi guys~~ According to service schedule, air conditioning service is to be done every 30000KM. Compressor oil will be changed. Cabin air filter will be cleaned (which I already do myself). That's all. tomorrow i will be be claiming the warranty for my engine mounting~~expecting some significant improvement~~currently the vibration is very noticeable as compared to when i first get my car~~ Any other things did u guys claim warranty? (done with wire harness and light bulb [changed to Omron instead of Phillips])~~ Anyway one question~~did u guys service the air-cond before? How often do u guys service it~~based on my past experience~~some mention no matter what send it for service once a year (clean and top up the gas)~~some mention only when u feel not cold~~Please advice The price is quite high. RM120 for this service, that only changes compressor oil. But I do it anyway. Many advise to just let the aircon deteriorate until it ain't useful, then repair. It is indeed more cost effective. |

QUOTE(terryble @ May 28 2015, 09:56 AM) Thanks for the input~~ Aircon service is simple. Not much chance for anyone to screw up. i will request for the service next week.. I believe prevention maintenance is important to keep the performance of the machine at its optimum level where it is intended... Just hope those technician really do a good job~~ Just to make you feel better, while replacing the compressor oil, the refridgerant will deplete as well. So you'll be getting a new fresh refridgerant into your air conditioning as well. Hence RM120 for air con maintainance. |

QUOTE(myteam94 @ May 29 2015, 07:17 PM) guys, Yes, it is a common thing that I have to go over ramps with totally stopped speed, otherwise I'll hit the bumper. Mine is a LE, it has bodykit that I've seen some people rip it off because they didn't know they had to slow down on their frequently accessed road/ramp.wanna ask. have any of you guys encounter situation whereby the Preve front lower bumper always hit the ground during at the road bumps, certain depth of pot-hole or even steep inclination at certain parking garage? bcoz when i drove Almera, even at 20-40kmh at the bumps,it still okay, the front didnt scratch or hit the ground where as in Preve case, most of the time especially during tall/thick/thin road bumps. I once posted my review, there's nothing wrong with my car, only the practicality in town. Ride height is relatively low, added with long overhang, it is a highway cruiser, not a day-to-day car. |

QUOTE(winners8 @ Jun 17 2015, 05:51 PM) Probably you're right. However, it's only introduced in the PREVE after October 2014 and I don't know of other car types using this HU. So the demand for the connector for the BLAUPUNKT New York 800 may be very little if any. Besides, he did show me the connector for the previous BOSCH HU, which he has, but it's different from the BLAUPUNKT HU. Even the steering wheel control (SWC) connector is different and I have to use external pins to connect the SWC to my SANSUI HU. Continental brands very troublesome. Even the connector for the radio antenna is different from most Asian/Japanese brands. The microsd is designed to keep map data only. Anyway, I could have lived with the BLAUPUNKT HU (with a good pair of speakers of course) if not for the "mp3" problem. It will never be able to read all the "mp3" files in the MicroSD card. I've tried to read 2 MicroSD cards with different variety of songs and both times, about 50% of the "mp3" files just won't show up. The Bosch HU is used in many other cars as OEM. Suzuki is one of the user. |

QUOTE(winners8 @ Jun 18 2015, 08:56 PM) I agree that the MicroSD is for the GPS. I mention MicroSD for the "mp3" files because I'm actually using a MicroSD with an SD Card adapter. Good to know that the older Bosch HU is more widely available. Hehe, just in case have to change a new HU in future.Connectors for the older BOSCH HU is not a problem. The connectors for the BLAUPUNKT New York HU is the problem, which seems to be OEM installed only in the PROTON PREVE currently. However, I've just realized from another forum that this HU has been available for sale in Singapore as an aftermarket model since 2013. So, the connectors may be available in Singapore. |

When I just got my Racechip, I thought it's just a small but unnecessary addition. After half a year, took it apart to change the tune from D-0 to 0-0, the dynamic feeling of the car is amazing. You can feel the liveliness of the car even I had no other modifications on the car to support the increase of boost. If you have potato chip as well, give it a try!

QUOTE(Wolger @ Jun 19 2015, 05:44 PM) Are they still selling Preve LE? I wan all the goodies that come with Suprima but with boot. There are only 100 official Preve LE. Sold out long ago.Looking at Mazda 2, Almera, City Vspec but I think will end up with a proton again. Once can still manually build his LE if he has the cash to splurge. Get 2014 and newer Preve CFE for the 6 airbags, electronic assistant brake vacuum and VT3+ transmission. Then change the rims, add the original R3 bodykit made of ABS material, and finally change the interior trims to leather. The leather trims are most costly in this conversion, and hence why little to none tried to make their Preve an LE specs. This post has been edited by mengsuan: Jun 20 2015, 02:21 PM |

Just have to ignore about the car behind and come to a stop upon a ramp. There are some parkings that cannot enter, then just don't enter. |

QUOTE(Doggystyle @ Jun 23 2015, 07:16 PM) Can I at least expect a 10% increase in overall power across the rpm range? (the stated 20% is way too awesome to be believed, though I would love to be wrong) If just Racechip alone, can't get 10% increase; at least I don't feel it is that much. Thanks for sharing. It needs more tuning on fuel and the ability to hold the boost all the way to high RPM, to get that much of improvement. Means more parts. |

QUOTE(fwhoam @ Jun 24 2015, 10:08 AM) I changed myself, twice. First time, very difficult. Second time, done in 3 minutes. Be sure to put the tabs back into the correct position or the light will focus wrongly. Worse case, a melted headlamp cover. A correct focus should see 'mata kucing' pattern on headlamp cover. |

I'm pleased with my Preve. So far nothing requires additional attention besides usual maintenance, and a lot of parking that I cannot enter.
However I'm not pleased with the resale value. I bought the car with 80k. I don't think the market value holds. |

QUOTE(Doggystyle @ Jun 25 2015, 06:41 PM) Thanks again. As expected you have to spend way more than 1k to even come close to endangering your cvt (sure you have heard from many non user). I suppose a catless exhaust would still be the best bang for buck? I'm a bit of a tree hugger. So removing catalytic converter is not of my interest. When I was going to buy Preve, my other options were hybrids.I didn't intend to use the racechip for lots of power. I actually drive slowly most of the time, I have no idea why I went to chip the car. Perhaps that small extra kick brings more confidence. Haha. I think with sensible use of the car, the racechip brings no harm to the CVT. I have not noticed any degradation in drivetrain after using for 7 months. QUOTE(PREVE2015 @ Jun 25 2015, 11:25 PM) if the hand break is fully released more horrible, the car wil just roll forward Just get used to clutch coupled transmission. Without torque converter, engine power does not keep powering your wheels. It will roll down. Use handbrake to help you. |

QUOTE(cslai89 @ Jun 30 2015, 09:27 PM) After my own thorough research, no.1. Aftermarket H7 LED bulbs are designed for headlamps with no obstruction at the back. Preve's headlamp has rubber boot to seal off moisture and dust. The way through it is to cut the rubber boot, ugly silicon sealing if required. 2. Most LED bulbs has large heatsink at the back. Our spring loaded retention clamp can't loop over it to secure the bulb. The way through is to break the clamp or modify it somehow. All are too intrusive. |
