Hong Kong stocks, trading for the first time since Thursday, reaching their highest since May 2008 as they played catch-up with mainland shares, which carry a 30 percent premium.
In a sign of rising mainland interest in Hong Kong shares, a record 7.8 billion yuan ($1.26 billion) of the southbound quota was snapped up under the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect scheme. Some liquidity is moving "as some wealthy individuals and hedge funds in China start investing in Hong Kong," said Qi Yifeng, analyst at consultancy CEBM Group Ltd in Shanghai. Analysts say Hong Kong stocks, especially small caps, are increasingly attractive to investors, partly because regulators are broadening mainland investors' investment channels and encouraging institutions to invest in Hong Kong. |

The FBM KLCI is expected to track higher next week on the back of the rally at global markets last week.
Bursa Malaysia should take a higher track next week week, supported by a global boost in risk-taking sentiment, ideas that Fed rate hike will be delayed, supported by European mega stimulus and easing geopolitical tensions of Iran and no-loan-default of Greece. FBM KLCI expected to remain buoyant and maintain support above the 1830 and 1800 support level before retesting the next resistance levels at 1850 and 1880 levels |

The FBM KLCI is expected to drift marginally higher next week ahead of Invest Malaysia 2015 on April 23-24, with gains seen limited on the back of the weaker close at most global markets.
Bursa Malaysia should continue to drift higher, supported by a positive regional sentiment on upcoming China stimulus, expectation on delayed Fed rate hike, European liquidity and stronger ringgit. There was an important case for a continuous bullish turnaround in the sentiment given the stronger Ringgit and a weak US dollar trend. Bursa sentiment will get a positive spillover from the upcoming 11th Malaysia Economic Plan, to be tabled in Parliament on May 21, which will address Malaysia economic growth from a multi-dimensional perspective including corporate profit, business opportunities, worker income, access to education, healthcare, quality of work life and living conditions. “We also expect the government decision to cut May crude palm oil export taxes to zero (against a 4.5% rate imposed in April) will result in a more attractive tax structure vis-a-vis Indonesia. on the technical front, the FBM KLCI had once again eclipsed the 1,850 psychological level for the first time in nearly six month, which had been a monthly hurdle difficult to sustain. Bursa expect to accelerate the momentum and test the all time high of 1896.23 recorded on July 8, 2014. |

The FBM KLCI is expected to track higher next week in line with the rally at most global markets last week.
Bursa Malaysia should take a higher track next week towards 1,900 level, driven by strong global market sentiment and China mega stimulus, supported by positive momentum from ringgit (week-on-week up 3.1% to 3.5800), brent oil price (w-o-w up 3.6% to USD64.80), Invest Malaysia Conference and the upcoming Malakoff mega initial public offering (IPO), which is tentatively set for May 15. FBM KLCI Index had once again eclipsed the 1,860 psychological level for the first time in nearly six month, which had been a monthly hurdle difficult to sustain. Bursa expected to accelerate the momentum and test the all-time high of 1896.23 recorded on the July 8 2014 The market close remained above the 20-day, 50-day and 200-day moving average suggesting firm bullish power across all time frames. Overall, the FBM KLCI should extend its bullish mode, mirroring Asian bullish market on China mega stimulus. |

KLCI was down 12.13 points or 0.65% to 1,842.93, which was the third straight day of losses.
Turnover shrank to 1.58 billion shares valued at RM1.89bil, reflecting the lacklustre market sentiment. The broader market steadied with gainers and losers at 410 to 407 while 324 counters unchanged. "As a long weekend is coming, the sell-down is probably in preparation for a holiday. Also, some investors have opted to take profit of their investments after last week’s rally. It is not unusual but overall, the market is clearly lacking in catalyst at this point,”. Bursa Malaysia will be closed this Friday (May 1) for Labour Day and Monday (May 4) in conjunction with Wesak Day. |
