oh yah, my spongy feeling brake gone after i changed disc..waddahek.. if i know earlier, i would have change it much much earlier(now car another few months to 4 years).. so scary man, press on brake, it won't stop..step harder it will lock..there's no bite feeling at all..unlike other car....even during rain, during braking on dusct/sands etc.. if someone e-brake in front of me i would be able to stop in time..lel..

new disc, i can even late braking..haha

what brand u use?
*
i got from zordaq, request for cross drilled, but they don't have that time. it's trw, and then they slot(or drill holes) by themselves.. but mine is only slotted.
300 + 70 for bleeding with new brake oil.

what raimy_m9 did about the spongy feel is change disk brake.
*
well that's for me, actually i still feel a bit spongy/lembut just lesser..and i could feel strong braking force/bite(i feel more condident while driving and tailgating..haha) and i think it's better this way cos my persona doesn't come with abs....for other's they changed to double layer servo, and it will have more braking force, just tap a bit on the brake and it will bite..

my plan for next few months, is to change to double layer servo.not sure what's the cost, around 200 maybe..

what about steel braided thingy then? and changing better brake pads will help?
*
hmm..steel braided not sure, but i know steel braided does not swell/expand during pressure unlike rubber one,and steel braided somewhat gives firmer feel to the pedal, and that does not necessarily increase your stopping power/or braking force. better ask someone expert lah..

i changed my brakepad twice on the original rotor, first i changed to bendix metal king titanium, and then i changed the normal bendix; bendix general ct. both brakepad types perform the same on the original rotor. very poor and spongy. after i had changed the rotor, then i can feel the bite on this bedix general ct. i went back kampung(kelantan) a few times already with this new rotor, and i must say, it performs well.it does not easily lock up during dry and wet road..i can do late braking(not that late la).i must say, overall i feel confident when cruising 140-180 in karak highway or genting.or tailgating.haha. . it is much much better on this new rotor.

first thing first, our persona without rear disc brake is installed with gen2 1.3 brake pump. the persona with rear disc perform a bit better...well in my opinion, to increase the braking force, you need a bigger pump...thus why people when they changed to double layer servo brake pump, light tap on the brake you already can feel the bite.

ps: i'm using 17inch 215/45/17, before this only rim pasu bunga...that time my braking really worst...haha.lel.

previously owned persona, actually stock pads with stock disk is good enough, at least for normal owners like me. didn't feel spongy. (i didn't know the spongy feel like you guys said earlier).
*
high line? all 4 disc? all 4 disc should be okay..but without rear disc, that one memang spongy.. need to brake from afar.lel..someone emergerncy brake infront, you see la whether can brake in time or not..haha..i kena, myvi masuk my lane and brake..i couldn't brake in time..tekan brake very hard, tapi ia tak mahu berhenti.. haha..habis rosak kereta..lel

standard persona. i drive within speed limit. and usually i drive withing 2-3 car distance.
*
yeah..i also drive within the speed limit and usually giving 2-3 car distance. ..and then i got into accident while i was travelling not even 60kmh and this myvi swerve mask from most most right to middle lane and brake...i couldn't even brake in time.
driving in kl where got many idiots..

i break speed limit usually on highway.but then, the road to kelantan mana ada highway macam plus highway or highway pantai timur tu..lel.

ps: standard persona? which one?

*
lol you see many complaints on persona brake system..spongy, can't brake in time, need to brake from afar..lel.no need so fast la..try emergency brake from 60, see how la..the car won't even have this bite feelings..and can't even brake in time. need to always aware and cautious..like i always did before..

for that case even got super god brake spec also cannot help you.
*
well, i believe it can. the problem with spongy brake like i mention before, you tap the brake, it won't stop..no bite feeling..it just will stop slowly, you give it more force, it will slow down a bit more, then you tap harder, until at some point it will lock..deswai you need to brake from afar..even when you drive slowly. lel, even when driving at 30kmh, i hard braking also will take longer distance than other cars with good brake

i tested inspira and new altis last month, lightly tap on the brake it bite and want to stop. same feeling as my wira with gsr brake..

yes, no e-brake's kind of braking force feel. so i either fast drop down gear or shift to neutral...
ic, same like me, obeyed to traffic and no feel the need for speed. blush.gif
*
haha..sicne my car is manual, what i did was, whenever i brake, i will mostly hit the clutch..much better braking froce..

well yeah..mee too....always obey traffice..if someone wants to play, let him be..since my brake was so poor.. haha

ps: i only do long distance driving or when i want to buy something big then i will drive....dekat2 in kl or go to office i would just ride..haha..my car would always be in parking, once a month go out.. but then, i would always go balik kampung once a month, or twice a month..lel.. january and february already go back 4 times..around 4000km lel.. 4 years, just hit 61k km on mileage..huhu

maybe you could be guinea pig...haha..change the brake servo to double layer and see how it brakes..lel..cheap mod. unlike changing rotor, steel braided, or change brake pad.

Change brake servo cheaper than change brake pad ?? blink.gif
*
haha..not really, brake servo is from half cut one..depens on the servo also..most people they use from honda..smaller but still double layer..should be almost 200 with installation..150 can get the servo alreay...but the steel braided is expensice yo..

lel..if you get the high end brake pad..it will be so enpensive..

Brake time hit clutch will help in braking ke? No engine braking if hit clutch right?
Change to 17" rims improve braking? Placebo sampaiiiiii
*
lel, maybe I didn't phrase it correctly.. if high speed, and high gear, i would normally apply clutch coz im ready to down shift so that the engine braking takes over. if low speed then had to brake without clutch if not the engine will stall. but sometimes, i would brake with without clutch coz at certain rpm it would make the whole car jerk.. if hard braking, just hit the brakes until it slows down and apply clutch if necessar(change gear or to keep the engine from stalling)

before i change to 17, my tyre would lock up easily(original kruiser, dunlop and falken) under braking. maybe because the spongy brake had to tap and tap harder to stop, then it would always locked. then i changed to 17 inch second hand bridgeston and now Achilles atr sport 2 all rounder, all very rare to lock up. in fact my braking is improved. now with new rotor too..it's quite hard to lock it up.
