Ya, this I have to agree with you.
My power hungry Polk Audio LSi9 when connectted with denon avr, it cut power after a few minutes. But run smoothly on marantz 5 series.

Example: no picture every week... then every few days... then getting more freq... whenever it happen, just try to unplug and replug the cable... once too frequent, then change new HDMI cable and same thing will repeat... This problem was so irritating that finally I decided to changed into SR5010, which is the shortest amp. After that, HDMI issue solved, never repeat as having plenty of space for cables. 2 more inch is a lot of space to me.

My friend 6008 started to behave exactly like what you have describe.

AVR is mainly for multichannel and usually precludes eq. You need to spend time calibrating it to get good sound.

If you mainly listen to 2 channel, then you wouldnt go wrong with stereo amps as they are optimized for this kind of music.

Yes bro, at this price, I feel that I need more power for ultimate blasting, pretty complete amp but the power capped at 70watt 4 ohm, which insufficient for some extreme volume for some concerts devil.gif

For normal listening, it would be fine though whistling.gif

Bro, I dont do normal listening.... hahaha

SACD production is expensive. Only a handful of ppl own sacd players. So that means they are not for general consumers.

Reproduction of SACD from CD not necessary sound good. Though they are done with DSD encoding, many ppl thing they are not superior, because there was no software to edit DSD directly. They are mainly edited from PCM.

SACD is dead, announced by sony itself year ago. Bluray audio is the replacement, but also seems dead today. Look like HDTrack is trend now.

I have a lot of SACD, but 95% of them are multichannel SACD. The 5% of my SACD are stereo SACD, which I bought accidentally.

The reason I collect SACD is because they have multichannel. However, in the late 2011 I spoke to a remastered engineer and he told me they are mostly up-sample-ed from 2-channel master.
I have leaned through him that most SACD from Telarc are mastered from multi-channel masters.

I have downloaded some High Def audio and luckily I have NA8005 that support the 5.6Mhz.

To my ears, it seems SACD is more natural than audiophile mastered CD.
Kind of disappointed to hear the truth that most contents are up sampled from previous recordings. But I actually has the same expectation...  cry.gif

Btw, how did you play multi-channel SACD? Via AVR? Got AVR that give audiophile quality performance?
*
Don't disappoint, you must understand the introduction of SACD is to provide surround sound.

SACD is softer than PCM. I personally prefer the detail offer by LPCM.

There are 2 ways to play multi channel SACD.

1. If your sacd player have analog output, you can connect them to an integrated amps. Commonly, ppl are using AVR.

2. Ideally, if you have avrs like SR5010 (and above) which have dsd decoder built-in, you can just connect your player through HDMI.

It's really quite obvious, if we are sharp, keen, and patient to analyze what we have been listening laugh.gif

Why you want to analyze? We listen to music, not to sound.

Talk about SACD, the most sought ones are those "Original Master Recording" on all the MFSL SACD.

The SR can be used as as good preamp, it power amp was ok but it could be distorted at high volume.
Get a good power amp.

Good answer. I think that should be the only correct answer as we cannot stack hot stuff on top of hot stuff.  bruce.gif

I came from the era of dedicated pre and post amp.
Throughout the years, I also have owned and helped others setup their AVRs. One of the main reason I have found ppl hated AVR for stereo because they sound so 'plain' when replacing their amp, even at the same volume. Most of the time was configuration issues (should try pure direct instead other mode), and 1 thing for sure is 2-channel dedicated amp has big tranny vs smaller tranny in most of the AVR, yet with more channel, and obviously, the later are underpowered. However, with power amp, it could make significant difference.

Unlike pioneer LX AVR, marantz doesnt allow you to turn off their power amp , so it does run really warm. Just dont cover the ventilation grille and you should be fine.

IMO, any electrical items that run hot is bad... Wasting valuable energy... and also might have shorter life span due to heats... Luckily my PM6005 and PM8005 are not hot during operation... Although they are hot items..  thumbup.gif

Most electrical components can withstand up 2 80c
