QUOTE(chanhin @ May 4 2017, 12:39 AM) Hi guys, I realized that my NA8005 show sampling rate from each of its digital sources. The text was small thus I never realized until now. And it confirmed that my HiMedia Q10 Pro output CD ripped 44.1kHz wave file at 48kHz. Yes, it is a disappointment. droid is a os. it has device driver as well.Is the 44.1khz to 48khz resampling destructive? Is it obvious? The Hi-Media -> NA8005 -> PM8005 just took me more than 30 seconds (do not even need audiophile CD) to realize something was wrong as freq response and details was not right. And I was merely using contents from CD that I just bought. IMO, to audiophile purist, it is that obvious. Thus I can conclude that HiMedia and possibly most if not all Media player is not Hi-Fi friendly. Do pay attention to it if you plan to use media player as source for music. And for demanding HiFi purist, you should use music streamer such as NA8005 or NA-11S1 (I love it) or the old fashion CD-player as source. Anyway, maybe it is just me that has demanding ears (actually suffering due to it). For not demanding listeners, life is much easier and it might be okay, especially using entry level system. 48khz is choosen for multimedia and game compatibility. what destroy the music is direct quantization (resample). this is quickest way where each bit from 44.1khz are being round up /round down during 48khz conversion. 奇数——偶数 odd vs even numbers. sure got missed fire. i find it noticeable too. if susah way. we multiply 44.1khz to over sampling until every bit match to 48khz accurately. maybe expensive dac doing this (so expensive lor) btw this not belong mine. but wow This post has been edited by ktek: May 4 2017, 02:21 AM |

QUOTE(chanhin @ May 4 2017, 11:38 AM) I suspect media player only has one clock -> the 48khz based one.... As media player is meant to play movies and all movies sound sampling are 48khz base... So in a way, it make perfect sense. Anyway, as long as we having decent DAC, I think we can just buy some affordable CD player like CD500x series and using its digital out to the DAC and the sound should be acceptable. For normal DAC, avoid using fiber digital. Btw, sometime I hate this world of coming out with multiplel standard. Since CD already launched with 44.1khz, why can't movies standard stick to the same base? 44.1khz, 88khz etc? Same thing got left hand and right hand driving car and road that make the world more complicated. becos intel create ac97. then computer world bloom over audio world. have forseen digital media +video editing to use 48/96/192 khz. earlier 44.1 kind no more popular among producer side. only make for compatibility or loyalty |

QUOTE(chanhin @ May 6 2017, 12:20 AM) I have downloaded some High Def audio and luckily I have NA8005 that support the 5.6Mhz. just realise my streamer can 5.6mhz too. must download to listen. hehe2To my ears, it seems SACD is more natural than audiophile mastered CD. Kind of disappointed to hear the truth that most contents are up sampled from previous recordings. But I actually has the same expectation... Btw, how did you play multi-channel SACD? Via AVR? Got AVR that give audiophile quality performance? fx bro got the emo xpa5 after marantz sr5007 /08 series. |
