QUOTE(kaiserreich @ Jan 31 2015, 09:23 PM) They are far from a monopoly. You had alps, ibm etc competing with cherry. It seems that cherry is the one still holding it out with mechanical key switches, together with topre. The rest mostly abandoned the business. Last month reported that Cherry has shortage and limited in several types of switches. And few years back, the mechanial keys was somehow revived and cherry received a bunch of business. I would take a guess and think that this is not cherry's doing, in reviving the mechanical keyboard business on the consumer end anyway. They stuck with their old way of doing things and here we are now with a bunch of chinese clones. I think it is wise for those companies which relying on the cherry switches and change their suppliers. Long lead time of production of Cherry corp., and they don't produce many. Now, mechanical keyboards selling like a hot cake regardless the brand of the switch. Everyone keyboard company want a piece of the market share. Razer, Logitech, Keycool etc etc... All using their new designed switches or those collaboration with Kailh or Greetech switches. We are in the mkb boom era. |

QUOTE(DarkSilver @ Jan 31 2015, 09:41 PM) I am going to buy a Filco Majestouch Ninja TKL Camo Edition, it's good? Ya. Recommended Filco Majestouch. And, I have been thinking to change the keycaps to something special... any PBT sets recommend? My Ducky Shine 4 works great, but I just noticed the keycaps of Ducky Shine 4 are actually scratched at the FRONT side(means the part facing the monitor). You guys have this issue? Guess, I'll be using 2 MKBs although it might not be necessary. Just go for it. For PBT sets, go for IMSTO thick PBT (Cherry Profile). IMSTO keycap set is expensive than the keyboard itself. |

QUOTE(DarkSilver @ Jan 31 2015, 11:02 PM) Actually, I want to buy the White Edition of Filco Majestouch 2 TKL, but, it's very expensive right? RM 600? Around RM 600 for a new 1, and you have to import it from China Filco. It's in limited quantity too. I saw few people put on sales in Garage Sales for around RM300-400 second hands last time (016, lowyatguy, kaiserreich). |

QUOTE(DarkSilver @ Feb 1 2015, 01:16 PM) So, I can only choose White & Pink or the Camo Edition. Tough choices. Don't have lotus flower on it.The White & Pink got flower thing on it? The 1 has flower is limited edition. QUOTE(DarkSilver @ Feb 1 2015, 01:17 PM) China Filco will mean Made in China right(except the switches)? Filco are made in Taiwan. White Beige Filco also made in Taiwan. As far as I know Filco is mainly made in Japan, right? Only Topre Realforce, HHKB, etc are made in Japan. Topre switch. QUOTE(kaiserreich @ Feb 1 2015, 01:59 PM) White filco is not really white, it looks like color of white rice. White Beige Plus the cable will go slightly yellow, need to mod after a while, unless you can stand yellow color. |

QUOTE(DarkSilver @ Feb 1 2015, 05:03 PM) I don't understand why WHITE is so expensive only... LOL Filco in Japan, China all expensive than our local price. Futhermore, if you want a White Beige Filco, you need to import.Wanna ask, Filco really that good? Compared to other like CM Storm and Ducky? I am not going for those weird layout keyboards like Logitech, Razer, Roccat, etc offered. So, there is additional charges for shipping. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Even a white carbon Filco KOBO bought by am3rr cost around RM550 last year from Japan. <<Wanna ask, Filco really that good? >> Ya, it's better than Ducky and CM Storm in terms of build quality and typing experience. |

QUOTE(nemesis94 @ Feb 1 2015, 07:39 PM) Anyone who owned both 87U and a Novatouch mind telling me whether there's any difference between the both of them? Both 45g of course. You summon me ? Layout is different. Topre Realforce 87U is standard Topre layout (non-standard Cherry layout), Novatouch is standard layout with 6.25x spacebar. If just typing feel, 87U is better except the spacebar press feeling. Novatouch spacebar press is best of the best > Topre stab, costar, cherry stab. Internally, pcb and domes, spring are using the same. |

QUOTE(nemesis94 @ Feb 1 2015, 09:30 PM) Can I still do mods such as dental banding on Novatouch? I really liked the feel of my HHKB and 87U 55g after the mod so I might wanna do the same on the Novatouch. Ya. You can still mod using dental banding on Novatouch. Be reminded, the actuation distance will be reduce if you use dental band mod.Too bad, Novatouch do not release Type-S series which plungers are a bit thinner. I thought you sold both of your keyboards.. |

QUOTE(DarkSilver @ Feb 4 2015, 06:17 PM) DSA PBT Keycaps is quite cheap, I am gonna get them if here GB. Please put spoiler when post images here unless the image is extremely small resolution. Their site = http://keyshop.pimpmykeyboard.com/products...sa-blank-sets-1 » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « It's not cheap actually. You need to get a Base set (usd 23) and a Standard Modifier Set (usd 21) to complete a TKL layout not include shipping yet. It's normal thickness pbt a.k.a thin pbt. |
