It seems only enthusiasts will buy IMSTO and higher tiers keycaps instead of casual users.

Guess, casual users don't have enough data to justify value of IMSTO which the pricing ~ same like a Filco keyboard (RM 369) price.

Example of IMSTO keycaps set: IMSTO's blank gray thick pbt.

To feed some extra info..

Cherry Keyboard + Cherry keycaps => RM800++.
Casual users, like to buy keyboard (pants) but don't buy keycaps (clothes). brows.gif
They will realise, a true mkb, consists of clothes and pants. Which is quite high cost.

The cost is kind of similar of getting a master race Topre (clothes + pants) tho. laugh.gif

Hello guys, wanted to ask does Lowyat has similar MKB in stock?

And can list me few shops of lowyat that I can visit or drop by to buy or test MKB?

My Interested keyboard is

1. TKL
2. White case
3. Black, red or any other linear (more silenced) switches..

Budget is around 400..
*
Forget about new Filco Majestouch 2 TKL White case.
Cost > RM 600 to get 1. sad.gif
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

For white case, got white Leopold TKL, and older version of Keycool TKL.

Or you spray the case ba.. Or request spraying sifu to quote you the service.

Hi! i'm new to mechanical keyboards, and i'm looking to get one for gaming (CS:GO) I was wondering why is the Corsair K65 mechanical keyboard not reccomended on this thread? I've heard alot of good reviews about it, but no mention here on this thread! D:
*
From what I seen, from Topre, Cherry, etc etc membrane keyboards all good reviews. Hardly there are bad reviews on a product. So weird huh? sweat.gif
So, can't depends on the reviews alone, because those reviewers just test the keyboard for couple of minutes, then spend most of the time writing and taking nice pictures.

For K65, the layout is bad, not even standard. See the bottom row...:
1.5x(Ctrl) 1x(Win) 1.25x(Alt) 6x(spacebar) 1.25x 1x 1x 1.5x (ctrl)
The 6x spacebar is very rare, not common, and hardly find a replacement if your keycaps broken or something.
So, since we all buy mkb for long-lasting and good typing feel.. Just avoid this keyboard.
Or else, you will alone in the dark by getting it.

Not really need to mention the high rate of LED died prematurely.
The first point: non-standard layout already kills the keyboard.

Why the spacebar and right bottom key like that  blink.gif
*
Reverse-mount spacebar.
Normal mount spacebar, will press the edge of the spacebar which is not comfortable.
So, some people will change to reverse mount.

You can try it yourself, and see whether suitable for you or not. laugh.gif

Is it weird if I feel the filco stock keycaps kinda 'tall'?

I'm so used to laptop keyboard and cheap membrane... sweat.gif
*
Ya, you are weird.
By the way, Filco stocked keycaps are OEM profile. It's standard height for all OEM manufactured mechanical keyboard.

okay thx
btw did u have any good recommendation for mkb ?
*
Eh.. Got my name tagged there.
Welcome then. laugh.gif

For recommendation.. You need to state whether you need LED or not...?
LED:
- CM Storm QFR-i TKL (below RM 400)
- Ducky Shine 4 TKL (above RM 400)

non-LED:
- Filco Majestouch 2 TKL (below RM 400)

For switch, choose tactile switch like MX Brown or Blue. Mainly for typing use.

Personally, all the stated above I use before their series except (Ducky Shine 4), I only used Ducky Shine 2 before... wub.gif

quovadis123 dah listed few recommended MKBs.. If you don't want TKL version, you can simply search for the full size 1 nod.gif

And clicky blue switches? Think wisely yo brows.gif

I sold my clicky blue MKB because my families and friends can't tahan the clicky blues.. cry.gif

If LED is optional for you

They are gone for KailhGreetech switch... Down the drain..
Low cost switches, but still sell the keyboard at USD 143 (sohigh will continue to support).
Good, less another competitor for Cherry MX board.
Btw, it's nice choice to make a TKL series at the end. laugh.gif

Hi guys, I need to buy a new entry level MKB for office use. The last time I came to you for advice, you guys recommended the QFR. That was a awesome recommendation. But now that I can't find QFR anymore, can you guys recommend another low priced MKB?

Not interested in the RK9000, as I'm looking for TKL. Oh, please don't recommend non-Cherry MX keyboards.

Thanks in advance.
*
Entry level like QFR...

Recommendation for entry:
- CM Storm QFR-i TKL (RM399), LED, Cherry stabilizers - Made in China
- Filco Majestouch 2 TKL (RM369), non-LED, Costar stabilizers - Made in Taiwan
- Ducky Zero TKL (RM 269), LED, Cherry stabilizers - Made In China

All mentioned are Cherry MX keyboards.

Thanks so much for the reply, and sorry for my late one, was on campus and became really busy with work/studies to even surf lyn sad.gif

so the main reason you do not reccomend the keyboard is due to the lack of customisation? The K65 is not backlit, and I am looking for an entry level mkb to game on the go between campus and home. I do not own a desktop computer, so the 80% layout seemed to make more sense to me. I also do not plan on going to any dark cc's to play anytime soon, so that is why I decided not to go for a backlit version.

Also, keycaps are expensive! a quick survey of LYN and its keycap pricing shows that it's about 1/3 the price of the actual keyboard! (the K65 is about RM3xx, and the caps are about RM100 for full keycap set!!) so I don't think I can splurge on the keycaps just yet  sweat.gif

After all this would you still recommend corsair? or would you still prefer another brand such as the ducky zero series?
*
Ya, it just lacks of customisation.
Recommended to get standard layout for entry level keyboard.
Some, and most of the keycap set cost more than RM200 at least.
i.e SP DSA, DCS, SA, GMK, BSP, imsto...

If just entry level keyboard, I will recommend keyboard like Filco Majestouch 2 TKL for Non-LED.
If you going for higher level, then go for Custom keyboards or Topre (HHKB, Realforce, Leopold FC660C)..
In higher level, you will see the keycaps cost just fine. Not 1/3 of keyboard cost... wub.gif
