I received a quote from AKG Germany. I asked someone to help me pay. I am paying about EUR 528.00 to fix my AKG K1000.

It's quite a hefty sum. Not too bad though looking I just made GBP 100 from casinos smile.gif

Haha yes I am a happy man. My AKG K1000s will be shipped out of Germany today.

Talk about efficiency!

It would be amazingly difficult to give you an appropriate review. I haven't got a source nor an amp at the moment.

The earliest I can promise a review is somewhere between Nov-Dec. smile.gif

It's in Malaysia. I'm in UK.

Can't afford the WA5. I think I'm going for a beta22.

I can tell you the K1000 is like a Lamborghini, lovely to own, and not too difficult to do so but indeed very expensive to maintain.

Difficult to maintain? How so? I had the impression that you just have to recable it, maybe make it balanced, and then get a good amp (it seems Darkvoice 337 goes well with it) for it. Is that right? Or are there other things you have to do?  shocking.gif
I've never heard the ATH-A900 before. But the AD900 is significantly more pricey than the A900.

Head-fi is still down.... Sigh  doh.gif

Head-fi is still down.

The K1000 would shit on the Darkvoice. It requires some power amp, at a pretty penny that may cost more than itself, i.e. maintenance. smile.gif

I should inform you of the exaggerated highs on the GS1k and their failed attempt to produce a wider soundstage.

As much as I tried to like them, their highs were eardrum-tearing painful.

It's not worth the money. You'd rather be spending it off on some high end AKG *hint hint*
