I am selling off my AKG 242 HD if anyone is interested to get one... Its a realy great sounding headphone in my opinion... plays well in most genre...

Since my question of how well does akg k701 improves over the akg 242 has never been answered, I am going to buy one and feel it myself

Just go to Jaben and listen it yourself! Before I decided to get K701, I got compare it with HD650, DT880 pro, HD598, Alessandro MSpro.

HD650 too dark to me and MSpro only good for rock music IMO.

for K701, u really need decent headamp to drive it well. If not it will sound empty and thin. At Jaben u can try Graham Slee and GoVibe Portatube...Portatube give warmth and smooth sound for K701 coz it powered by tube.

IMO K701 and RudiStor NX-03 combo are the best. The amp very clean and it really makes K701 sing!

hv done a lot of google-ing edi... different ppl hv different views... from what i hv read, Akg k242 is known as neutral headphones as well but for me the bass is definite gud enuf for me...  Dark sound and Sony-style-sound are too boring for me...  i prefer clear wide sound with prominent vocal...especially the sound of Olivia Ong~~

Anyone knows which amp to pair wif k702 ? I running it with e7 + e9 now. Yuheng said the refinement not there in e9 and recommended the slee solo. I was like "wtf" at the price =.="

I would echo what Tyll of InnerFidelity and Mike of HEadfonia says about the headphone. The miss sounds dangerous close to being recessed, but in actual fact they are not. It just not as full-bodied as the other cans I have in my possession. Very revealing, resolving and coupled with my RX MK3-B and its bass boost, enough bass punch to my liking. Not as much as the D2000, but much more controlled and tighter. Build quality is SUPERB, it looks handsome and sturdy as well. The most important thing about the K550 is you must make sure the fitting is done properly. Any improper fit will result in audio regressing to sounding thin and harsh. I had to bring the cups forward and tilt it in towards my inner ear to get a good seal and proper fit to isolate nicely as well as getting the supposed sound signature. The headband is extremely comfortable, I had a listening session on the plane back from Tokyo this afternoon, I literally slept with the headphones on it, and not felt it. Supremely comfortable.

For the price I paid for it, this is a better headphones than my previous D2000. I needed a headphone that is isolating, full circumaural and sounds as good as either my DT1350 or my previous D2000. I believe that search is over.
