QUOTE(noobandroid @ Nov 17 2011, 08:21 PM) If not mistaken, fully open-back for AKG is only 701's family. Like the K701, Q701 and K702. The others are Semi-open or closed even my AKG K240mkii are semi-open You may try ask bro E1 - AKG for further suggestion since he bring all AKG's. I just got those "Q" series only. You may try ask for K141mkii |

QUOTE(chaukian @ Feb 6 2012, 03:08 AM) I am selling off my AKG 242 HD if anyone is interested to get one... Its a realy great sounding headphone in my opinion... plays well in most genre... For me, I will keep my K240's for pop, club, and techno and get myself a Q701 for others genre like mainly rockSince my question of how well does akg k701 improves over the akg 242 has never been answered, I am going to buy one and feel it myself Do PM me for the Akg k242 if u ar interested ^^ the reason i'll choose to do this is because K240's had better bass punch compare to Q701. as i'm the person who listen to lots of diff genre of song, end up will have lots of headphones for sure Added on February 6, 2012, 4:32 pm QUOTE(xEDynamics @ Feb 6 2012, 03:24 PM) that not show off, its 'poison' It same goes to me. Yet is still a very very awesome headphones for who love dark sounding Just go to Jaben and listen it yourself! Before I decided to get K701, I got compare it with HD650, DT880 pro, HD598, Alessandro MSpro. HD650 too dark to me and MSpro only good for rock music IMO. for K701, u really need decent headamp to drive it well. If not it will sound empty and thin. At Jaben u can try Graham Slee and GoVibe Portatube...Portatube give warmth and smooth sound for K701 coz it powered by tube. IMO K701 and RudiStor NX-03 combo are the best. The amp very clean and it really makes K701 sing! This post has been edited by Lennox: Feb 6 2012, 04:32 PM |

QUOTE(chaukian @ Feb 6 2012, 06:46 PM) hv done a lot of google-ing edi... different ppl hv different views... from what i hv read, Akg k242 is known as neutral headphones as well but for me the bass is definite gud enuf for me... Dark sound and Sony-style-sound are too boring for me... i prefer clear wide sound with prominent vocal...especially the sound of Olivia Ong~~ the another reason why is more punchy is due to their build, K240's are semi-open cans while the K701 are fully open, more airy, that's why the bass is light. But it doesn't mean no bass at all for the 701's, is just detailed bass instead of punchy bass. Hope u get what i mean Bcoz i probably wont be buying from Jaben, tats y i am nt feeling gud if i were there just for a test... Jaben. But be careful haha they damn good at poisoning xD. Anyone knows which amp to pair wif k702 ? I running it with e7 + e9 now. Yuheng said the refinement not there in e9 and recommended the slee solo. I was like "wtf" at the price =.=" hahaha.. well the K702 deserve that price of AMP, doesn't it? QUOTE(propf @ Apr 12 2012, 03:46 PM) guess you love somewhat smooth bass. aha.. i didn't test my k240mkii cable on Q701.. only tested Q cable on my K240mkii.. my k240mkii's bass is quite muddy, and there is a noticeable improvement by using Q's cable and some minor improvement as is quite minor so i can't remember very well. the most still the bass what tracks you commonly listen? anyway how does you k240mkii cable sounds when plugged in with the Q701? any better? mostly listen to Metallica, Queen, Bee Gees, MJ, Kenny G, Linkin Park, Olivia Ong, Norah Jones, Eminem, Big Bang, etc |

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Jun 4 2012, 11:38 PM) I would echo what Tyll of InnerFidelity and Mike of HEadfonia says about the headphone. The miss sounds dangerous close to being recessed, but in actual fact they are not. It just not as full-bodied as the other cans I have in my possession. Very revealing, resolving and coupled with my RX MK3-B and its bass boost, enough bass punch to my liking. Not as much as the D2000, but much more controlled and tighter. Build quality is SUPERB, it looks handsome and sturdy as well. The most important thing about the K550 is you must make sure the fitting is done properly. Any improper fit will result in audio regressing to sounding thin and harsh. I had to bring the cups forward and tilt it in towards my inner ear to get a good seal and proper fit to isolate nicely as well as getting the supposed sound signature. The headband is extremely comfortable, I had a listening session on the plane back from Tokyo this afternoon, I literally slept with the headphones on it, and not felt it. Supremely comfortable. For the price I paid for it, this is a better headphones than my previous D2000. I needed a headphone that is isolating, full circumaural and sounds as good as either my DT1350 or my previous D2000. I believe that search is over. |
