Geek Pulse has been in the crowd funding stage since end of 2013.
Initially started by LH Labs - a sub company of Light Harmonics who created the $30,000 Da Vinci DAC

they have decided to bring their DAC technology to a more affordable solution to the consumers. Going through crowd funding websites, e.g. Kickstarter & Indiegogo, they introduced USB DAC - Geek Out, Desktop/Home-fi DAC - Geek Pulse and Portable DAP - Geek Wave

Current ongoing campaign is going to end by end of this month before reverting back to their MRSP. Initial backing gets up to 60% off the expected retail price.

Some of their technology from their $30,000 has been trickled down to the Geek devices, and the Geek Pulse has 3 models:
1) Entry level - Geek Pulse ($399 - MRSP $999)
2) Upgraded dual DAC - Geek Pulse X ($777 - MRSP $1799)
3) Upgraded dual DAC /w Femto Clock and components - Geek Pulse Xfi ($1399 - MRSP $3199)

Other Geek devices to complement the DAC -
1) Geek LPS - Linear Power Supply. (Deliver clean DC power to Geek Pulse from the AC power taken from the wall.)

2) Geek Power Amps (To power full sized speakers)

3) Geek Soul (Combination of LPS + Pulse with upgraded components into 1 chassis unit.)

4) Geek Tube Buffer (For tube loving people)

5) Lightspeed 1G/2G USB cables (Higher bandwidth / isolating power and data cable for less noise)

Anyone jumped in the campaign? I went in for the Geek Pulse X /w Lightspeed 2G USB cable.
I'm late in the campaign, so i'm expecting my wait to be a very long long one..

As how i see in the website, the Basic Geek Pulse should be First Payment of $99 plus 4 months of $99 which should be around $500 without taxes?

Choose the Geek Force only Pulse which gives $100+ cheaper at $399.
To join the Geek Force perk you'll have to register in their lhlabs.com forums smile.gif

After you get the Geek Pulse at $399, get the Upgrade to Pulse X for $288 which makes the total $687. That's $90 cheaper than going straight for the $777 Pulse X perk.

Btw - They have agreed to declare ALL Geek Pulse at $189 even if you add all the upgrade perks! biggrin.gif

Interesting bit on this - They did mention that you're supporting them their campaign, so they're giving you a gift to thank you for the support. laugh.gif

Nah. Was SERIOUSLY tempted truthfully (with the HE-560/400 bundle), but ended up not pulling the trigger. tongue.gif
Went down a slightly different route.

As in JDS Labs? Geek Pulse is a desktop unit while ODAC is portable, so it's not a really fair comparison.
But comparing specs and feature wise, the Geek is in a different class. Better Frequency response, THD, more than enough power output for most/all headphones not to mention it supports all formats including 24 bit 192 khz FLAC and native DSD128.
ODAC only supports up to 24 bit 96 khz.

If you are happy with ODAC then sure? But if you want to upgrade to a higher quality sound then you can consider Geek.

I have no idea what amp you're using, but some amps can't drive some headphones well.
