QUOTE(danilo5753 @ May 25 2015, 11:30 PM) Guys, I need some advise. I been offered to a job with Singaporean boss, however the salary can be paid in either SGD or USD. Assuming the conversion is equivalent (example.. I can choose either USD$ 2000 or SGD$ 2683) Which currency should I choose? Any advise >.< Which currency are you going to spend & save? For example, if you spend mostly S$, then get your salary in S$. Then you don't have to pay the spread to convert US$ to S$ everytime you spend.

QUOTE(quintessential @ May 25 2015, 05:38 PM) if cpf is better than epf, why on earth malaysians with singapore pr under their belt still refuse to convert to sg citizenship after working for many years, despite earning more than average middle class singaporeans. point to ponder. Ummm... because PRs can withdraw their CPF while citizens cannot. Additionally, many Malaysians want to retire back to Malaysia, where spending their S$ CPF withdrawal in RM is much more fun. Your route to retirement in Malaysia is not as straightforward if you have given up your Malaysian citizenship. Lastly, many Malaysians in SG still own property, shares and companies in Malaysia. The paperwork and requirements are much simpler if you're still a Malaysian. But to the point, CPF is much better than EPF - if only for the simple fact that CPF is not exposed to rubbish like 1MDB, local GLCs like MAS and Proton etc etc etc etc.

QUOTE(Humanoid @ Jun 7 2015, 12:29 AM) hey guys, if after signed the contract of rented room, and after stayed in, but found out its not to your liking, as many thing like bed is not in good condition, room has many bugs, wifi signal not reachable, what can we do next? other than complain to landlord? if problem still not solved yet, can we ask for return of deposit and rental and cancel the contract? Is the location good and the rental acceptable for that location? For me the most important thing when renting a room is the aircond. Everything else can kowtim yourself for a few bucks. I rented a flat in AMK for 7 years. Location was good, landlord left me alone and my neighbours were friendly. Rental was low because I started renting when the block was undergoing lift upgrade, then kitchen, toilet and extra room upgrade. Anyway by 2011, 2012 - I was paying only about 2/3 the market rate. But most of the furniture and appliances were breaking down as they were mostly >10 years old. I bought practically 3-4K of stuff myself and when I moved out, I left it all behind so that my landlord can immediately get another tenant. Over the 7 years, I still gained 20K vs if I had paid market rate. So, if your location is good and the rent is reasonable, you can buy a new bed and branded mattress for a few hundred and mobile broadband sim card and modem is just 30-40 bucks a month. Bugs... go NTUC and get some insecticide or insect bait if it's really bad. This post has been edited by seantang: Jun 7 2015, 11:04 AM
