QUOTE(Sesshoumaru @ Jun 12 2010, 01:28 AM)
Most of us park at Lot F, which is the other end of the Sentral area (if 1 Sentral is northwest, Lot F is southeast). There will be shuttles to ferry you. Get your parking ticket stamped for a flat RM6 per day fee (the shuttle driver, receptionist, 10th floor, all can do it).

Some will park at other areas in Brickfields, e.g the temple, the car park near the pasar raya, etc. These are relatively more dodgy then Lot F, so recommend this only when you are comfortable with the area already.
*
awesome answers. however, heard there are development plans for Lot F as well. at that time, we will all be so stressed up looking for parking XD

QUOTE(Blue_Blood @ Jun 12 2010, 10:02 AM)
better join KPMG..the parking ticket only RM1 perday...hehehe
*
i take it as you are a static staff in office i.e. Tax/Firm services? Correct me if I'm wrong, but RM1 only for the first 6 hours or something right? You'll need to repark your car after that?

QUOTE(ThanatosSwiftfire @ Jun 12 2010, 07:56 PM)
OH REALLY?? HMMM
*
LOL Thanatos. I'll let you park outside my hse and have a 5 mins walk to KPMG and/or DELOITTE tower LOL.

U all have an MOH submission? isn't it just the Section 9(3) and Reg 12 of the HDA submission? ><

As for the time sharing.. uh.. I'm doing a near-full fledged review of FRS139 (but somehow i think the team disagrees with the client management and also our own manager)...
*
hmm usually we'd report under Section 9(3) and either Regulations 12 or 12A. gonna switch to 12A soon, pain in the arse

Yeah especially with discounting part, doing a Time Share company. Luckily can practice on this one before it was fully incorporated this financial year. Next year die lo. Right now struggling with FRS 201, hate DE schedule.  mad.gif MOH submission next Wednesday  tongue.gif
*
haha FRS201. well we'll need to welcome IFRIC 15 in 3 days time. so better get prepared for the Dec year end clients.

QUOTE(Chennie @ Sep 18 2010, 08:44 PM)
does anyone know the starting pay offered by the big four in Kuching as a 1st year AA and hows the promotion like compared to KL (HQ)? Thx
*
Depends a lot on the standard of living i.e. what Topace mentioned, but I roughly estimate that its about RM300 lower than KL (assuming I'm taking my firm for example)

In terms of promotion, I'd say it won't be as bright as KL though. Simply because smaller regional offices have limited jobs and thus the requirement for e.g. seniors & AMs/ESs will be limited to a few position (maybe 1-2?) as compared to the HQ offices. Also do note that due to the slower progression, it is likely that the person that joined before you will get the promotion, possibly due to the longer time frame and audit knowledge/experience that they have in the regional office

QUOTE(feifei777 @ Sep 25 2010, 05:25 PM)
Hi,
Horwath got any test or essay?
May all of you share the interview experience in Horwath?
Normally what question they would ask? (for experience or non)
Thanks in advance...
*
geez. what is wrong with you people? you think they read from a script or something? wake up!!!! there is nothing that you can prepare yourself for the interview questions, the only way is to be spontaneous. e.g. like my interview, all the interviewer asked was all about my study life in UK. not the standard FRS questions yadda yadda yadda.

now imagine if you have went to the interview single mindedly prepared for FRS questions, won't you be caught off-guard? im not saying there are NO FRS questions, but i think the best preparation for you is just to relax and approach the interview with a free mind, i.e. not be bogged down with all the preparations etc.

I just got a call for interview with PWC on wednesday, any tips?
*
as i've mentioned before in the earlier postings, there are no tips that we can give you, to prepare for the interview.
only thing is, you have to be impromptu and think fast (as thanatos mentioned), most of the time its not really how right is your answer, but rather how convincing and how good you are at presenting your answer.

having said so, that was my interviewer which did not touch on standards or anything theoratical. maybe you'd do well in reading up some of the hot and upcoming standards, just in case.

thx u:)
If I taking ktm to kl central, then which direction should I head to the building. I am sorry, that I exactly have no idea, where is the building located. mind to give me more information?

Appreciate a lot:)
*
well if you come out from the main entrance, you will be able to see the Sooka Sentral food court. If you see it, means you are at the right place.

cross the pedestrian crossing, turn to your right and follow along the walkway, all the way to your end. cross another pedestrian crossing and walla, you've reached 1 Sentral.

a sanity check, when you're almost to the end of the walkway, Maxis's building should be on your left

ps: anything just pm thanatosswiftfire, he's working in PwC smile.gif

Guys, I want to ask about working in PWC EUMI, is it true that you that the client is so big that you might say, audit the NCA the entire year round? How to learn something if that's the case?
*
first of all, if you want to work for PwC, better be sure about the spelling.

secondly, yes these are considered several sections that new associates do start with. however, no one is stopping you with your own initiative of asking your senior 'can I try and do other sections?'. its all about your initiative, if you don't speak up, then you just can't put the blame on your senior for assiging you such tasks.

hope that dua sen helps

QUOTE(semivalue @ Nov 20 2010, 07:25 PM)
Usually it is hard for new joiners to be allocated to new sections. For most of the joiners, they need to be at least equipped with one year experience to do the Deferred Tax Section.

Most of the time, when you ask the senior 'can I try and do other sections?', then probably they will ask you back "if you don't do the vouching for this section, so you are expecting me to do the vouching?". I've tried it few times already, and this is more like stepping the tail of your seniors. So, really have to pandai2.
*
hmm what i had in mind was not as far as deferred tax, maybe on receivables, payables and income statement (of course in addition to cash & bank and ppe). these are more than enough challenge for a new joiner (at least i did find it challenging in my first year LoL).

of course, when you do other sections u need to also do the assumed junior sections. that's when you can prove yourself to be able to handle the job requirements :|

QUOTE(Topace111 @ Nov 21 2010, 02:50 PM)
Ha ha I also have reached a point, "eh now you senior a bit I throw the whole thing to you".
Now have to do testing, vouching and audit alone for all sections. Cos maybe I am a dude, they think I dont need junior / intern  doh.gif

One thing I notice about audit is the more s@#$ in that company, the more you learn. But you have to absorb the s@#$ at the same time.

They very pandai one la, decorate the main entrance nice nice. Interview room also canggih. Comes to the audit office  doh.gif  doh.gif  doh.gif  Even amazon jungle will be ashamed. Should bring those fresh grads to the filling room  tongue.gif
*
haha, am in your shoes. but from experience wise, if you can handle one shit job, you're naturally assumed to be an expert in shitty jobs and hence going foward, you're being thrown more shit jobs. LoL. time to sit back and relax smile.gif

If you're really fed up with s@#%@$#%t company, then ask manager can qualify the report or not. My colleague experienced once. TOC failed, ST also failed  doh.gif
*
honestly speaking, to qualify a set of account is also not that easy. there are many more qualitative factors to consider as well.

TOC fail, you can still sign off an unqualified opinion, with issuance of ICM and attached together with your report to the BOD/AC

Time ...... audit does makes me realise time is more precious than money, oooh my unclaimed time-off.
*
no choice then. close off the file yourself. sometimes your manager will appreciate if you can lay out some routes to take, rather than just going to them and ask what should you do? works for me though, was a good advice from my senior manager smile.gif

QUOTE(Mika Sayuri @ Nov 28 2010, 01:48 AM)
Oh thanks Topace111! Well, I sent in my application on Fri 19th Nov - too late for PwC? I saw their website advertising for December intake so I still dont know if it's my grades? Would appreciate if someone can pretty please enlighten me on the "different cutoff dates for promotion" of PwC, EY and KPMG? What is the min CGPA I need to achieve for them to give me an interview opportunity?

I know it is my own fault for applying relatively late given that my last paper was at the end of Oct. However, I am working full time and pursuing my degree so I had too much work to catch up on after my exams & only managed to send in my CV last week  sad.gif Pls advise, I really cannot stay without a job; I must do something...
*
I think 19th November is a lil bit too late, as if I'm not mistaken, the new Dec batch commencement date is on the 1st of Dec. By right, you could've applied first and just let them know what you will be sitting for your last paper at the end of Oct, probably furnish them with your semester grades up-to-date for their evaluation.

Its quite hard to tell if your grades made it or not, quite judgmental I'd say. There's a lot more factors that they will consider when they process your application, e.g. extra-curicular activities, achievements/contributions to society etc...hence I believe it is not purely on your results alone.

ps: just fyi, i had a unimate who had a 1st class honours and still screwed up her interview at the end, so yeah.

Hope the 2 cents help

Hi, anyone working at PWC??
Who knows where LOT F , the parking lot nearby monorail?
I failed to search the exact location.
*
which part are you coming from? if you're coming from the bangsar area, u would need to make a right turn underneath the newly constructed flyover and head on straight to brickfields. keep going straight until you pass a post office on your left (keep to your left cause the road is divided into left and right - one-way system at the moment). there will be a traffic light. go straight at the traffic light and further down you will see a row of shopoffices. go further a bit and u'll see a bus stop. right after the bus stop, there's your entrance to the Lot F parking.
