Hi,

From what i gather from the sifus

Currently i'm using a pioneer HU which has 2 RCA pre outs and a component set.

I'm planning to get a 4 channel amp and a woofer.

I understand that the usual set up is 2 channels for the component set and 2 channels bridged for the woofer.

Does this mean that the rear speakers will have to be blanked out?

or is it ok to power it with the HU. Will it sound weird coz i get the impression that once the woofer is installed, just kill off the rear speakers coz it won't sound nice. But i guess any rear passengers will then only feel the woofer.
Can it still work?

Also the guy at the shop did mention 2 RCA will give a fader option for front n back. Not sure he meant fader between the front and rear speakers or fader between the front and woofer. Can anyone clarify?

he also said my panel speakers which i think is 5 inch is a bit too small for any difference but suggested to install the amp and upgrade later. But i think having an amp should provide significant audio clarity even if it's just 5 inches....what do u guys think?

Alternately, he did also suggest just getting a 2 channel amp to just power the woofer and let the HU power the components(he hinted not much diffrence if power the components) since its running on 5 inch speakers, but i suspect it might be unbalanced. Anyway, it's better to have an option for upgrades right?

good SQ systems usually dont even have any rear speakers.  if u feel u need to, then powering it up with the HU is the better choice.  in good systems, rear passengers will also hear the front components.
for fronts + sub, since rear pre out is used for sub now.
are your 5 inch speakers from a component set, or are they OEM speakers?  usually first upgrade would be changing oem speakers to components, then only adding amp and sub.  if theyre oem speakers having them powered by the amp could kill it, make sure the gain level is low.

it's not OEM speakers. As it's a 2nd hand car, the previous owner had it set up. Is 5 inch speakers too small for any noticable difference?
I think the amp will still make a difference in terms of improving the signal.

For sub woofer size and selection, what is the usual do's and dont's?

Would keeping the rear speakers spoil the sound balance? Some opinion states the rear speakers do not play any good role once the component and sub is set up.

thanks bro.
