noobie here, got a gen-2 cps, not planning to change the blaupunkt HU, any setup to recommend? budget about 1.5k
wat speakers, components or amp or anything..pls help n guide  icon_question.gif
*
use a amp with a high level input (save budget) or get something like jl cleansweep or rockford 3sixty or audiocontrol lc6/8 which will cost u more than 2k...dun ever use a hi-lo converter sold in acc shop..they are crap...lolz...but for budget wise, it's the cheapest solution for adding amp...

for ur budget of 1.5k, u can get a set of component spk first..then slowly add in other items

can contact me for info if u wish to

hey guys i wanna ask what mean by 5band pre-amp and 7band pre-amp? what the different? and "capitor"donknow how to spell =/ what the thing use for? only for saving battery power?
*
5 band give u 5 tuning frequency range...the freq tuning curve are more wider than 7 band. so when u tune like say 800hz, it will effect from 400-1.2khz..
if u got 7band, it will only affect 600-1khz....which give you more accurate result
that's called "Q factor" in EQ

actually the manufacture rated power are the power that the sub will be working efficiently. If going for SPL, amp power more than sub is a need, but if daily usage, minus 30% is ok. Depend on how you want the sub to work then select the amp will be more practical. if use really low power to feed the sub, might as well buy a cheaper sub....

400RMS sub will work as it is from 250-500 rms..anything below or exceed this range will kill the sub if you use it hard.

the RMS rating is the recommendation. Not a must to follow 100%. +-30% is safe :>

and for a sub to work nicely for lower freq below 50hz, u need at least 80% of the recommended power. the lower you gonna fetch, the more power you need. Underpowered sub tend to sound punchy while overpowered sub tend to sound boomy.

Added on July 25, 2011, 7:11 pmps, get kicker cvr from me if u wan loud sub tongue.gif

Chief, taking on the above suggestion, i really wanted a sub but donot want to sacrifice the boots and the slimmer sub amp is not able to fit under the car seat. current stock,

Sedan 4 door car.
Rear - 2 6x9 3 way speakers
Front - mid range and separate tweeter
amp - 4 channel

I feel like replacing 6x9 with woofer and pehaps installed 2 tweeter at the back, else ppl sitting at the back will hear boom boom only, unless I can play with the Fader. Anyone installed such set-up.

Thanks.

i am not sure wat car you driving, but this box are designed to overcome the boot space problem for most car...it's slim and long....can fit to the inner part of the trunk...traditional square box will make the trunk space hard to allocate for some long goods carried...the above size is just a rough measurement...can custom to fit your trunk perfectly if needed

I saw this slim one but the woofer some famous brand comes to 1K over liao... I currently have 4 channel amp, and was told if get one of these woofer, still need to get one more monoblock something amp, total 2 amp in my car and this boom box ! thats why have leave it as it is. overall my finding still lead me to at least 1-1.3K, be it tube woofer with amp build in or woofer box with separate amp. those under the seat woofer/amp(of course not as powerful lah..) is going for rm500-600 range, more to my budget but sadly none seems to fit.
*
this sub can work well with 4ch amp. no need extra amp :>

For SQ setup is usually about using good quality product with minimal distortion and natural sounding package. Many purist even do away without rear channel at all, and SQ I think never uses coaxial at all as coaxial is for economical use. If going for SQ, if I'm not mistaken mostly use active setup whereby each speaker of the component is driven individually by each amp channel and use active cross over connection, as opposed to passive. Sub also normally don't use bridge connection since bridge gives more power at the expense of distortion, so usually driven by a real mono amp. So it's like channel 1 & 2 drives the tweeter then channel 3 & 4 drives the mid, all for front only. Then got one mono amp just for the sub, and not use rear speakers at all.

I'm nowhere near any expert on this and my ears are just very normal and insensitive like regular people but your kind of setup I think is just a normal economical setup, not SQ or SPL. smile.gif Experts like Howiechoo should be able to explain more on this.
*
just a reminder, a mono amp can easily having more distortion than you bridge a 2ch amp smile.gif

hi all sifu, im new in here

currect using 2channel (400w) Pioneer amp

i doesnt need a woofer,
izzit possible to a 2channel amp to run 4speaker that 6.5inch mid bass door speaker?
*
u can, but better not...

1. 2 ohm generate high load on amp..
2. no fader adjustment. the lower power cunsumption speaker will sound louder.
3. acc shop cant sell u second amp...tongue.gif
