QUOTE(alexei @ Dec 8 2014, 05:16 PM) Better like how? Please elaborate. comfort and quietness XM2 up to R16. PS3 up to R19. From this perspective, we can roughly tell which market segment they are designed for. - FC: XM2 > PS3 - Wet grip: PS3 > XM2 - Treadwear Others: Load and speed index XM2 = 91V PS3 = 91W BAX2 = 91V |

QUOTE(alexei @ Jan 26 2015, 01:33 PM) EPDM update: P-type is suitable for bonnet, door trim, and boot cover. those things, what they do actually? closing the gap, meaning no more wind noise? For door trim, we can continue downwards from the window pillar. Alternative to door trim is using small D. This one can close the door gaps at the A, B and C-pillar. Expect both small D and P type to make the doors harder to close. I was using 2 layers of big D for my bonnet. Less cost efficient than single P-type. Need to cut open at the front intake, to allow cold air intake. Otherwise, penalty is ~2L\100km FC degradation. Anyone interested let me know, so to motivate me take pictures... |

QUOTE(alexei @ Jan 26 2015, 02:03 PM) For me to burn money. LOL. I see..thinking to do some acoustic treatment tho in exora, because when we talk inside feels like inside the cave. It's an old trick, really. Example here. For me, I can hear motorcycle pass by through the door gaps. Also, notice the stock rubber seal only close the gap halfway down the B-pillar. I want to close it. Have a look at Audi Q8 door seal if you see one. It's all closed up. This is small step to improving noise insulation of EB. Others in plan: firewall, floor and roof; door; wheel well... |

QUOTE(alexei @ Jan 29 2015, 07:52 PM) Alas, it is not the battery holder. the pattern is not normal and got sound like 'tak' 'tak', it seem the fan struggling to turn on...need to turn on the engine again to activate the cooling fan.It depends on radiator temp when switch off. If above 90C, then it will spin. |

QUOTE(alexei @ Jan 30 2015, 10:16 AM) Maybe share what I know. After engine shutoff, the water pump for turbo module continues to function. You can hear 'zzzz' sound near the turbo module, and it can be traced along the turbo coolant hose just a few inches away. Together with this, I could hear 'bloop... bloop...' sound, like coolant boiling or moving along the hoses, into the radiator. Do you observe something similar? QUOTE(SleeplessEyes @ Jan 30 2015, 01:39 PM) I think the tak tak sound, probably comes from the exhaust/metal cooling down. I don't really know about the technical parts, what i know is the car is not behave normal like it used to..because I'm travelling with the same road, same speed and at the same time of the day. Just a month ago the fans acting weird. Now my exora stuck at the SC for two days already. Luckily got a triton.Mine also have this sound, but I'm not too worried, cause some cars do have this sound. Also, mine also, sometimes the fan doesn't run after shutting down the first time, but the water pump still does run (by hearing the water sound). Sometimes I just turn it into ON position for few seconds, then turn off ignition ; you don't need to start the engine. Yes, it will run after that, but sometimes it doesn't. Depends. Again I'm not to worried, cause like alexei says, probably haven't hit the 90C threshold yet. It's not compulsory to try run the fan for 2nd time, but just me, I prefer to have the fan running, for assurance feeling, so that the radiator coolant temperature is cooler, so that the turbo gets cooled down properly. (Sometimes I even open my bonnet, in my car porch) Last time (when I first got the car), I idle the engine for 1 minute, but after that I read certain forum, it's not necessary for water-cooled turbo. Actually i'm not that fussy with all the issues but because of the recall programme regarding the copper nipple might as well made a complaints while you are at it. For new owners, get ready for all these issues...really it is a good mpv. Just lowered a bit ur expectation can live happily ever after dy..when i sent my exora got this uncle really fussy, "Why the door is not smooth ha?" The door knob really hard to open ha?" haha really made my day |

just want to update the outcome of my previous issues.
1) Brake got friction noise while braking - service brake. 2) Engine difficult to start and need to crank many times - checked by padt - no trouble code - ecu new version 03/13 - service throttle body and reduce 3) Engine dies off while reverse - do first initialization + clutch adaptation 4) Fan sometimes not working - fixed socket 5) Front driver seat bouncing - seat normal. tested ok. 6) Upgrade to copper nipple. All issues has been solved! |
