Hi guys , my i5 4690k at 1.215 can boot into window.. and i get pass result in intel processor diagnostic tool.
However ,it suddenly blue screen and reboot.
How u guys test whether the an oced cpu can run stable enough?

Is it the correct practice like pumping up more and more vcore until i don get a blue screen shown up again ?
Eg, from 1.215 to 1 22, or higher .

Or is there other thing that i have to adjust so that i can still remain using @ 1.215 vcore ?

Thank you so much

what BSOD u got?
what's your frequency?
normally 00000124 like that will be not enough voltage

I got 00000124 like u mentioned.
My frequency is 100 x 45 multiplier ..
I think i will just add more vcore to solve the problem. Only way right ?
Is it the only voltage setting i gotta do ?
By the way i m using z97 ranger mobo.

What should i do with the cache ratio ? And its voltage setting ?

Depends on how lucky for you to get the good batch of OC CPU.
voltage really depends, but for 4.5Ghz, some need 1.255 to achieve that
You can try increasing 0.05 each time until stable, but don't go near 1.35

do u use air or water cooled??
i get 4.6 cpu input=1.9v/vcore(adaptive)=1.32v

better just go 4.4ghz..not worth it unless u got decent water cooled

i m using air cooler , temp can keep below 75c (during afternoon
what is adaptive ? got difference ? do u need to do the same as u ? i only adjust vcore and multiplier ...
thx smile.gif

adaptive voltage mean ur voltage is not fixed..i think it is new thing and all new motherboard got it..not sure about that
adaptive vcore is not fixed..so even u crank ur vcore at 1.4v it will not fixed at 1.4v..it volt will depend on ur usage..
meanwhile manual vcore will fixed ur voltage..even when u not use the CPU the voltage will be fixed at ur setting e.g 1.23v
but some argue it depend on ur board
..im not really sure about that..maybe they off EIST and C3 power state sweat.gif

for me, I just use 1.25v as a starting point. Push the processor until it becomes unstable.

from that point, you can
a) lower the processor to a stable point on the same voltage
b) pump more voltage to maintain the speed

I usually go for a). After it reaches a stable speed, try lowering the voltage further. Once the processor is unstable, up it to the last stable voltage.

Sometimes stress test 24 hours no problem, but after few weeks when you play certain game BSOD appear, that time increase a little more voltage and you'll be fine

Alright goldfries sifu, will go for a) . Really a good idea =)
But what software do u usually use ? If prime95 ,which one to click and test ?

Usually people use Blend test.

For me i don't use Prime95. I just play games and do my work, if it's really unstable then games wouldn't get through.

Getting games through doesn't mean it'll pass Prime95 either. biggrin.gif And not passing Prime95 doesn't mean it's totally unstable to use.
