I saw Vigor D9 with SRAM s500 derailler while speed clearly mention X7. Not familiar with this S500. are they any good as X7.

i've been using sram s500 before on my mongoose.the RD looks the same as sram X5,nothing looks different in my eyes when i compare side by side long time ago if im not mistaken..

i just hope speed d8 red color in stock drool.gif .dint like the two tone color (white/green) combo sweat.gif

went to one of the shop in Setapak, they have a folding bike brand "Mongoose". Anyone know how it the quality of that brand?

from what i knew, Mongoose previously known to produce BMX, not folding.

tq in advance for your feedback.

i used to own mongoose before. cool2.gif
bought for rm780 at that time (that is 2 or 3 years ago) and now the price as low as rm700 and above with good built quality.you will find a bit different on the handle post compare to other.it use riser type of handlebar, screw type of stem-not quick release like other, BUT that is not a big problem for me lah! icon_rolleyes.gif

the main point i dislike about mongoose package is the wheelset and crank sad.gif
the wheelset is 451 with 34spoke if im not mistaken (hard to find replacement hub without changing the wheelset) and it used freewheel hub.means u will stuck at 8speed freewheel cogs.cranks also if im not mistaken 46t max with triple plate chainring.its useless to use the smallest one since you on 20" bike.i think those crank are for mtb setup rclxub.gif most folding bike will equip with roadbike size crank (48t and above).

you need extra cost to mod it and the cost to mod these 2 things nearly the same price you bought your mongoose folding bike.oh ya, got another model name naxxus identical to mongoose.its the same, just rebranding.if u just buy for easy leisure ride, its ok lah.but if u are planning to upgrade the gearset system, please keep in mind that the cost will be double rclxub.gif

and this is my mongoose, heavily moded sweat.gif

i would strongly suggest you go for trinx ka2016 or ka2016d (d is for diskbrake version with 406 wheelset,non-d is a vbrek with 451 wheelset) over the mongoose since here in Ipoh the price for trinx starting from rm850-950.i heard in KL trinx model priced as low as rm1.1k doh.gif

since my sister already take my dahon vybe,i had no bike for touring.so i decided to bought 2nd speed p8 2013 model.as you all know, the speed p8 2013 comes with lousy component compare to previous version.i dont mind it either coz i've plan to adopt shimano ultegra groupset to it..

and here it is
user posted image

using avid brake liver, new grips and shimano deore 10speed shifter combine with shimano ultegra cranks and rd with tiagra 12-30 casette and claris fd i manage to get this new setup!all racks and accessories from my vybe transfer to my speed

and my next project is to make my dopper a roadbike instead
user posted image
still scouting for a road fork, and wheelset (those wheelset in the pix are not mine) and planning to put my shimano 105 groupset to it.and hey,its still a folding bike! whistling.gif

Nice projects bro!! Especially love what you've done with the Speed P8!! What I don't like is the poison is now very strong for me to mod LOL.

As for the doppelganger, crossed my mind too to get one and upgrade with better components, but since it's still quite big for a folding bike i decided to just scrap the idea and save up for a normal road bike. But keep us posted on the Doppelganger mod man, it'll be sick to see a folding road bike with awesome 105 components
*
thanks bro thumbup.gif

at 1st,
i think want to put the 105 component into the speed P8 and ultegra will transfer to the dopper..will see later lah if i ride dopper more often compare to speed in the future.. tongue.gif

will update later on the dopper.besides,my theory the dopper is just a folding frame.later if i had to,i can bought 1 normal roadbike frame and transfer all the dopper component to it,or maybe i find dahon tournado for it...visa versa! rclxub.gif

user posted image

already bought brand new shimano rs11 wheelset that can use 11speed in the future, all 105 groupset (might adopt ultegra shifter and brakes), michelin rubber and exustar road pedal.i used shimano c600 fd as the doppel dont have fd bracket..

saddle are yet to be change.i got biologic saddle from tern.only need to final tune the gearings and maybe get 2ndhand road fork.its hard to find one now days as the new frame size fork are not the same..

Not so rare? Any idea where i can find one?
i have seen cranks shaped like an egg before. They say it gives more power output compare to circle cranks.
*
hahhaa...for doppel i dont know where to find it in malaysia.maybe can oder direct japan laugh.gif

for oval type of crank,u can get brand rotor for the oval shape crank.also litepro already produce that type of crank.my friend said those oval type of chainring really helps u when climbing and make it easy, but cannot be used during race..

nevertheless, i need to try out myself later after i find suitable sealed bearing square taper type of bb.i heard can oder duraace square taper bb (maybe new oldstock),but the price i heard below rm400! *gulp

Hey, I got the same crankset on this bike that I've just bought.  Never used a Biopace crank before, but I'll try it out tomorrow and see how different it is.

Here's my 1994 Trek 370 sport.  Cromoly frame, 100% original, even the tyres!  RM250, not bad eh?

Saw the dahon formula s18 on YouTube which would fit my criterias but they are no longer available.
*
if u scouting for dahon formula, its hard to find right now even in 2nd hand market.but if u want a clone copycat of the dahon formula,u can get trinx ka2016d.same look but with 16speed, an alloy instead of chromoly and the price are cheap also!

instead of trinx,u also can get the dahon speed p8, rm2k+ and few bucks extra (still in ur budget),u can upgred it to 16speed or more!

Now in KL.... hahaha

This Trek is probably not a great touring bike as it is, and it does not have mounting points for front or rear racks.
