i check from my notebook specification from the brand website it is
stated that my notebook also support 8 cell batt pack.

is my current batt pack support a 8cell?

Since some customers report that their notebook internal charger not function.
A stand alone smart battery charger is also been developed by ALTBATTERY research, currently compatible with ~30%-50% of smart battery in the world. Will upgrade the firmware to make more battery compatible.
-SBS(smart battery specification) version 1.0/2.1/3.1(with PEC transfer protocal) compatible.
-Up to 3A charging current. Charge to 80% within 2 hours and fully charged a 4400mAH in~3.5Hours for most notebook battery.
-Using SMPS, High charging efficiency >90%. (Generate very less heat during fast charging)
-Maximum 200mV stepping voltage.
-Constant current, constant voltage charging (current loop inside a voltage loop) algorithm.

No compatible with:
-Dell with ExpressCharge(TM of Dell) system.
-Fujitsu and some Toshiba no SBS comply.
-Compaq special battery with built in charger. (E.g. ARMADA(TM of Compaq) series)
-Old Asus or Old IBM with one-wire(TM of Dallas) protocol.
Will add support upon request.

The stability of the system is still under testing. Will upload some picture if ready and upon request.

Beside, we are developing a simple PC based oscilloscope with sampling rate<10ksps, suitable for testing application deal with 50Hz AC signal to examine the waveform, or use as fast multimeter (for voltage measurement). Found mostly useful in AC switching(thyristor/SCR) testing/study. AC linear power filter study and others(no recommended for end user except low voltage application testing, e.g. study on Secondary AC voltage characteristics of transformer.)...

F.A.Q:
1. Is charging battery in this way safe?
This is what we are testing now. This unit contain hardware current limiter which keep monitoring the charging current. In case the charger's controller hang, in built watchdog will reset the charger. Beside, all smart battery have individual cells over/under Voltage protection/over current/overcharged/over temperature protection inside of them. As long as user never have their battery modified to force the charging of the battery, it is considered safe.

2. What is the price of this unit?
This depend on market demand and user. The price is not set yet. If interested can PM me.

3. Can I get this on local market?
No, this unit is more close to factory testing equipment. Thus very rare used by end user.

P/S:
What does it mean by double protection in a smart battery?
Double protection is the minimum requirement for smart battery, and some battery contain triple protection. The idea is, first layer of protection monitoring the charge parameter are within safe boundary. It will control and disconnect the cells from system (notebook) when any critical error occur. The second protection is a standby unit. It just a simple (mean more robust) unit to monitoring the cells' voltage only, second protection have critical value set higher than the first level, so first level will trigger first if error occur.

But first level can fail after wear and tear. When first level don't action if battery over safe boundary, the second level protection will trigger, and battery is permanently disabled. To ensure that the battery are safe.

Disable the protection can alive a dead battery, but the battery is not use in good way. It keep source current into the system even the battery are nearly exhaust. This can result in shortened cells life. It keep charge even if overcharged or short, this can result in failure of battery charger when some specified brand of cells is used.

In conclusion, a good practicing to repair a battery is keep the protection alive and test if it is functioning.

Thank for the comments, Altbattery is only one of my small project. Not hope too many people know, especially the notebook manufacturer. Just introduce to your friends by oral. Price is based on our judgment on the market value upon supply and demand law. We are always based on "You paid adequate, you get adequate" law. Since our R&D cost is relatively lower that those of notebook battery manufacturer and it is obviously a repacked battery pack is not a new battery pack, it is always cheaper.

The main objective of ALTBATTERY is:
100% tested and sastification.
