Hello guys, I really need your help to do my assignment here.
It is a group assignment and we're supposed to come up with a new product. then, we need to make a 30 second ads about our product. I am not from any Multimedia college or whatsoever, so there's noone to guide me.

so firstly, sorry if this is the most redundant questions ever, but anyway here it goes..
I need your guys opinion on what's the most simplest video editing software that an idiot like me can use but still can do the fancy fancy stuff for the ads?

I plan to record the video from a DVD video camera (panasonic vdr-d150), and I'm not sure what's the video format.

so yeah, anyone?

wat kind of effects are u talking about? if just normal transition, fade in/out..i think adobe premiere will be enough for u...if ur talking about those shining, glowing type of eye candy u see on tv ads, then adobe after effects should be ur fren...

these are the software i use for doing my video project...of course, u need to use them with photoshop and illustator to do some editing and create ur own photos, illustration...

after all that stuff i wrote, here comes the bad part...all the software are easy if u understand the concept behind it...if not, none of the program will be frinedly to u...but u can check out this link www.creativecow.net (they got tons of tutorials there...)

for video format, (in my experience) it's better to use mini-dv video cam if ur shooting footages, and transfer them via firewire...(transfer through usb will result in lower quality footages)

hope that can help...btw, if something's wrong, plz do correct me... laugh.gif

Windows Movie Maker, easy to use, and easy to produce videos from the clips that you have.

There are quite a few options for you to choose. As asura_86 pointed out, Premiere + AE will work. I would recommend Sony Vegas cuz I can work so much faster with it, and others might recommend Ulead Video Studio. I suggest you pick one and stick with it.

Vegas Video 6.0c and above support the file format (MPEG-2 VOB) from that camera natively. You just need to import it (says another site). Mind you, some claim that is the editing format from hell. laugh.gif I haven't tried it cuz I don't have that camera plus I use DV.
