QUOTE(hootguuy @ Sep 17 2006, 10:56 AM) How Do achieve success in ur career?? Like Accounting, pharmancy, engineering etc. Get promoted faster than other people!! Even bcome a millionaire b4 age of 30. What u think is the essential criteria to achieve that?? And what part time job make more money than the 9 - 6 job?? If you get promoted faster and you have a tougher resposibility and you have plenty of worry and also you might not sleep well at night because you might afraid you will lose your job the next day because you have too plenty of commitment in hand. So, everyday you go to work and hope you keep your back wash because you dont want to get involved to something that you will get into trouble to job secure yourself. So, you are looking for such life? There is plenty of gold you can dig out there. Go get them, they wont come to you...good luck. This post has been edited by jobseekertalk: Sep 17 2006, 06:24 PM

Don't work hard, work smart!
it is not what you do but how you do it!
Do your part, and lay bridges with those that can help you achieve your objectives!

But your millionaire status 7-8years from now will not be as luxury as todays millionaires. Our money gets smaller and smaller. And in my opinion it is very hard for a person to just depend on job ALONE to be millionaire in 7-8 years, u need to earn an anual income more than ~120K This post has been edited by billytong: Sep 18 2006, 10:59 PM

It depends on the structure and the cultuyre of the company ure working for.I've heard that in orang putih companines u dont really have to do lotsa work.As long as u can deliver it no matter how u make it and u can "kamching" with those orang putih then can put u on top faster thatn any bulletrain.Try to find any non bumiputera companies that is so.

To aim for management level, it's actually a mix of hard work, proactiveness, go go go attitude and good relationship with boss... no dozing or slacking off. Employer does not want shy or introvert kind of employee to be management.

QUOTE(great @ Sep 23 2006, 12:11 AM) The case is always like this. Engineer has to work double hard than the manager with the same amount of salary bot h are earning. Because most work are done by engineers. You dont work, manager can fire or hire.So be manager better lo. lol ...... i work as an engineer ..... and i always go home on time ..... no extra work ...... no need stress ...... only stress is technical problem troubleshooting Manager ? - NO OT - Always work Late - get called in the middle of the night if there's major outage - stress from customer ( e.g. complains, request, changes etc ) - stress from employees etc etc lol ...... u think FUN ah ?

QUOTE(great @ Sep 23 2006, 12:15 AM) ONE work says it all. Kiss-Ass.....! Because he only focus on his boss. How many managers you know are competent leader. Competent..not just being good to his boss but to his subordinate and colleagues as well. Very rare.....! Its a black rose. Bravo. That is reality, harsh but true. In the IT industry in bolehland anyway. Forget about quality education, good grades, technical ability and experience. If you want to become a manager, there's only 2 ways, First is Kiss-Ass as stated. Second would be to be a good dodger, as in most IT companies here, employee turn-over is high, if you stay long enough and dodge all the bullets, even your manager will leave and you will be "rewarded" with his/her place. This process can be expedited if you not only can dodge but deflect the bullets to other competing co-workers or even your own manager. Of course nothing is absolute, so there are some decent companies that realize that the Peter Principle is to be avoided and staff with exceptional "verbal" skills are not suited for technical or managerial positions.
