I'm quite interested in the ATH A900

The reviews seem to agree it does quite well for gaming, musics and movies. Also there isn't a real need to buy an amp for it which suits me fine.

There was mention of bass being low then others but if you had the S750 Creative Gigaworks speakers with a shitload of bass ._.;; you'd be as fed up as i am having to turn it down all the time lol...

So for Ath a900 i found so far only these 2 places do shipping from overseas to Malaysia.

www.audicubes.com (base in japan)

http://bluetin.com/stores/malaysia/shop.html (base in Singapore)

Walabies madman said you may be selling a900 is this true ?

I'm currently importing from Blue Tin Singapore. Their sending by EMS courier doh.gif should take 2 days according to them ... i will count the days it actually arrives...

By the way are the ATH-A900 considered high end cans hmm.gif I'm trying to upgrade my status from noob to audiophile flex.gif

dgrebel what cans you getting ?

Well if you can wait a month, it would of course be cheaper if you buy from there. Shipping is extra cost doh.gif

By the way....

QUOTE
Open cans are usually better then comparably priced closed ones.
There are a few exceptions to this rule (the DT770s and ATH900s) but for the most part it is accurate. smile.gif

Anyone have any comments about this ? People at the headfi are saying ATH900 is somewhere between a Grado (on the stage) and Senheisser (on 10th row from stage) in terms of sound. And also that the ATH-A900 has such a large sound stage it is good for first person shooter games.

Oh more info.

If anyone interested in ATH-A900

Audiocube ( based in Japan ) = RM 657.813 MYR ( the headset including the shipping price to Malaysia via EMS. I did the current USD to MYR conversion for the audio cubes. So as you can see ironicly Audio Cubes is cheaper, although since their shipping from Japan it may take a bit longer then from Singapore. )
http://www.audiocubes.com

QUOTE
The shipping charge is US$14 from Japan to Malaysia via EMS Speed Post (air, insured).
It takes about 3 days for the transit time depending on how fast your customs proceeds.
Total amount is US$193 (US$179 + US$14)

We do not know if you will pay the import duty or not at your customs as we do not know its detailed regulations.
We can mark as gift and mark down the value for you if requested.
If need such shipping service, please put a note on your order for such shipping instruction.
There is a blank space under "comments" in our order form for you to put such a shipping note.

Blue Tin ( based in Singapore ) = RM 708
http://bluetin.com/stores/malaysia/shop.html

QUOTE
A. Products ..
Audio-Technica A900  = RM 607

B. Delivery ..
ExpressMail, 1-2 workdays, < 1kg  = RM 56
insurance = RM 45.50

Total = RM 708
I didn't particularly like Blue Tin service when i communicated with them via handphone. I mean why list their phone number when they don't want to discuss about purchasing from them ? The person even asked how i got his number ??? It's listed on their website and they even stated there to call and they would gladly talk for further info, instead i got rudely talked to. Despite that, i sent the order through their site on Saturday. I then got a price quote on Sunday. I then paid them that same day, and got a reply to confirm i paid on Monday and that they sent it.

Pros
- Seem to be fast response seeming that i mailed them during the weekend

Cons
- Bad service over the phone. I'm left wondering how they manage to get any business at all.

Audio Cubes i sent a mail around Saturday. I only receive a reply on Monday. Seeing as i sent mail to them during the weekend it should be about right in terms of how soon they reply. Also i found their email MUCH MORE FRIENDLIER !

That sums up my purchasing review.

So going to the shipment site i checked my items status. It showed like at what time it is doing what. According to it, it should be in transit to Kl.

I am praying it will be in my hands tomorrow, not sure if custom will delay it biggrin.gif

Wow they called you over ? I'm not really good at lying :[ big problem for me.

Anyway ordered from Blue Tin (Singapore) they ask me to check here http://www.speedpost.com.sg/ using the track code they gave brows.gif

The ATH-A1000 how does it compare to the A900 for gaming, music and movies biggrin.gif ? Just curious.

There wasn't much mention for the A1000 concerning gaming, only A700 and A900 were, and in terms of performance A900 was better than the cheaper but good A700.

I got a question.

QUOTE
All X-Fi cards (except the Xtreme Audio, a rebadged Audigy) support CMSS3D-Headphone, which is really, really awesome. In games you get simulated 8 speaker surround, and the directional clarity is astounding. For best results use some good quality headphones, the positional effect seems to be lost on cheaper pairs. In music, it shifts where the sound seems to be coming from to in front of you, as opposed to inside your freaking head, but that's entirely a matter of preference. It CAN make music listening easier for some. The best way I can describe it is, it's as if the sound is coming from speakers in front of you. Or all around you if you want.

QUOTE
Dolby Virtual speaker and Dolby Headphone to pre-encode content for ur mp3 player etc.
I find Dolby's algorithms better than the X-Fi's CMSS3d Headphone/Virtual Speaker.

So is the XFI CMSS3D-Headphone really good ?

People using headphones do they normally select 2.1 speakers or headphones mode ? And also do they select the CMSS3d Headphone or leave it as disabled ? Any opinions ? Need to know cause i play Counter Strike quite a bit.

Also will the Auzentech Prelude have either of these ?

Yeah i thought i read somewhere they selected 2.1 speakers.

I just wasn't sure i remembered right. Was wondering once i get my cans today or tommorow ( not sure how fast custom and post laju can send... package in Kl i am in Kl .. hm.... hopefully today ) Just want to know what settings to do so i can play Counter Strike and listen to music :]

Mad so how about CMSS3d Headphone do you enable that for games ? I'm using audigy 2 zs so probably don't have that, BUT i got vista ultimate 64 bit original. I think they have some sort of virtual surround for headphones, is it worth enabling it biggrin.gif ?

Omg.... Madman biggrin.gif what is going on.

Postlaju sent me a form informing me the package has arrived in KLIA and held by customs until it is cleared. So Postlaju wanted me to sign the form giving them permission to handle my shipment. I had to pay RM 49 for their services o_O: how come i have to pay somemore ? i thought i paid blue tin already the shipping fees ? Anyone who bought from Blue Tin before can comment on this biggrin.gif ?

Then later the custom person from KLIA informed me the item is there, and they will send to post laju office in Kl for me to collect. She also said it may take 3-5 days for customs to clear the item ! I haven't yet been taxed so far but i am pretty sure i will be !!!!

Putting the tax aside i am wondering whether this is normal procedure or is there a better way so that the courier can deliver right to my door step without me having to go all the way to Shah Alam, and also why do i have to pay post laju some more ? I thought i already covered shipping fees with Blue Tin ._.;

I ordered the A900 on saturday last week..... Blue Tin confirmed receiving money on Monday so they sent on that day .... then now is thursday and my package is still held in custom =_=;

Singapore isn't that far from Kl, and the item is already in Kl where i am at so why does it take this long to get things done, and more charges by the hour i don't understand =_=; i'm just fedup right now.

headphones are not taxable, esp. if non-battery powered

This is what Blue Tin told me. I will tell you if it is true once i get my final bill if any.

Another thing, the custom person said if the courier didn't do sort all this on your behalf e.g. like i'm paying postlaju to do on my behalf, it could take longer.

I will report how fast they clear and deliver it, and if my Rm 700+ is taxable or not.

Stay tuned.

=_=' ugh...

Now call post laju they say package still in KLIA.

Call KLIA they said will take 2-3 days to clear ... ( why are they telling me the same excuse again ? They said the same thing the other day to ._.; ). Their saying either monday or tuesday they can send to me. Do they work on saturday and sunday or not o_O: ?

Also seems the Rm 49 is just for them to clear for me.

And they ask for another Rm 40 just to deliver to my house !

Anybody know how the cleanrence for the item details ? I'm just wondering why i pay 49 for. Also the custom person said if i got the courier to clear on my behalf should be faster which would mean lesser than 2-3 days according to her. But their telling me again the same thing even after i gave them permission to clear on my behalf .....

I don't want to wait so i ask whether i can go KLIA pick up myself she also said can't because their still clearing it as there many packages.

=_=;

I suggest AD700 (open) or DT880 (closed) from your list. Good analytical phones with soundstage. DT770 if you like your boom boom.

If you're looking into the Audio Technicas, this is what you need to know:

D - Open: More soundstage; Less bass impact; More upfront,Natural midrange: overall better SQ
W/O D Designation: Less soundstage; More bass; less natural midrange: overall worse SQ

Is what that person said was true ._.;

Cauz my new A900 is closed .... But even if it is true i still prefer closed for the reasons of isolation sound etc...
