QUOTE(Akabane@DrJackel @ Sep 13 2008, 09:16 PM) This one i do test before the fake one is really oh mine god...the SQ is really not Audio Technica taste. More listen more dizzy How lousy was the fake ES7 ah? Must sound like crap yeah?I won't be surprised that some people on head-fi who said that the ES7 sounds horrible actually bought the fake ones. If they bought the real ones, I'm sure they will say its sounds lovely. This post has been edited by Sony Ericsson: Sep 14 2008, 10:48 AM |

Well, I LIKE to listen to as much details as I can. I also like speed. Electrostatics provide those in spades. Also, if you listen to VERY complex music(lots of instruments/directions), most dynamic headphones start to struggle to produce everything when it becomes too complex. If you're a person who likes to hear the bass, then stats are the way to go, if you like to feel the bass, then dynamics are the way to go. The closest dynamics that I've heard to stats in terms of details and speed were my MDR-CD3000 amped by pico and also the iM716 when properly amped. Close, but not the same.
However, having said all that, dynamics still has its place as I love my ATH-ES7 very, very much. As I type this I'm listening to Katie Melua via the ES7. Nice. Some people feel that because stats are soo fast and detailed, the music looses body and they describe the sound as thin and anemic. So, to me, I say, stats or dynamics doesn't matter, it all comes down to personal preference and sometimes mood and type of music. You're lucky if you like one and not the other, if you end up liking both then... Oh and the ATH-W11jpn is pretty awesome too. I'll post some of my pics in this thread later if I have the time and if anyone here is interested. In the end, its all about the music, never forget that. |

DEVICLOT, Yes, its still available. I'll check the latest price and let you know later.
Sieg, even the SRM-717+O2 didn't do it for me too man, very boring. I'd love to compare to a HE60 since they are the level of Lambdas. |

Well I owned it long enough to form my own opinion of it decide for myself that I the O2mk1 boring. The most important part that I accidentally left out in my previous post was "IMHO", my mistake since I assumed all posts are personal opinions anyway and there was no need to explicitly state that is was a personal opinion. OK, now that that is out of the way....
In my defense, I did state that they are superb. Let me make it clear, the O2mk1 is superb on a technical level, the best I ever heard. Its among my 5 most favourite headphones I've heard. They have better details, speed, tonality, precise head stage compared to any headphone I've heard, be it dynamics or other stats. And yes, they are damn bloody comfortable. VERY bloody damn comfy. I used to listen to them at night for hours before I slept. The statement you made: QUOTE with the imagination of the green lush hills of warm breeze gentle brushing yur face and body...very soothing and relaxing I agree with the above 100%. With the O2mk1, I loose touch with my surroundings and my mind drifts off and pictures all those scenes, its aided by the fact that I listen to mostly chill out/new age and lounge music. When I listen to the O2mk1, I don't have a care in this world. I'm really lost in the music. There is no listening fatigue with this headphone, none at all. I think I can listen to this headphone for as long as I want. Now, your next statement: QUOTE omega II wins over he60 over it's laidback soundsignature and not so simmering effect ( too bright ) very very warm and smooth sound signature... Here is where both our tastes differ. I am the exact opposite of you. I like a somewhat bright-ish, super detailed and energetic headphones. I like "fun" sound over accuracy. I am very sensitive to sibilance though, so only a select few headphones fit my criteria. I compared my O2mk1 side by side with my beloved SR-Lambda Signature(very rare headphone) for months on end. When the Lambda Signature is driven by the SRM-T1, the sound is smooth yet detailed. O2mk1 from the T1 sounded like a sleeping beast, you could tell there was potential but it was being held back for sure. Too smooth and bass was just a tad bloated (for a stat, definitely better than dynamics!). Also, from the t1, the O2 lacked dynamic loudness. Then came the SRM-717. Yeah, this one woke up the O2 for sure. However, it pumped steroids into the Lambda Signature. The detail level of this headphone is now unbelievable. Its not as good as the O2, but its close enough that I can live without the Omega 2. The imaging/head stage of the Lambda Signature is not as good as O2, but the tonality and the liveliness is awesome. Details are lovely too. Impact is more hebat on the L. Signature too regardless of either amp being used. I was gonna type a whole novel here, but got intereupted by something and lost my train of thought, so yeah, just like bro Sieg said, its personal preference. So, I'll say it again, but will rephrase it this time. O2mk1 is boring TO ME. Abang PC Work, ok la, I'll bring this thread back on topic. You know how much I LOVE my ES7 right? I know you love yours too. All I'll say is this my most favourite phone was the ES7, I loved it more than some of the phones I've owned/tried; the Darth Beyer, K701, HD600, CD3000, DT880, DT990, K503, K81DJ, W11JPN(very close fight), AD2000... and others. Well, the Lambda Signature took away that crown from it. Love it soo much I bought two!:p I consider many factors before I choose to stick with a headphone and put it in my "favourite" category. Details, tonality, speed, durability, price, bass extension and impact, system synergy, song type, mood. So yeah... One man's meat... Ok, ok since this is an AT thread, let me post some pics. Mine are on my on my other PC, so you guys will have to make do with these which I got from HF some time back. These are not mine. ![]() ![]() ![]() Won't kena boycott la, me At and STax fan lah... Yeah bro, no worries, not criticizing your preferences too.
For me, my preference is: 1)dEtails, deTails, detAils 2)Slight aggressive and sparkly sound without sibilance 3)Bass and high extension must be very good, I like to hear moar than feel it The diversity and subjectivity of this hobby is what makes it soo fun and also frustrating at times. But then again, if all headphones sound the same, where's the fun in that eh? This post has been edited by Sony Ericsson: Feb 14 2009, 12:50 AM |

Just to make something clear, just because I find that I like it better does not necessarily make it a better headphone.
I didn't say the ES7 is a better headphone, I just said I liked it more... nyeh nyeh nyeh... The most important thing I learnt in this hobby is: TRUST your OWN ears. |

QUOTE(Akabane@DrJackel @ Mar 1 2009, 08:59 AM) I think all of us here also like that then...i still remember first time went i buy my first headphone is like HUNDRED PLUS is i think very expensive then if i heard people buy few thousand linggit headphones i think they all crazy...then now i think i have to take back my words then since now i playing a thousand linggit item lol... Yup, same feeling here. The headphone that started all this for me was the ATH-ES7. I buta-buta just spent almost RM500 for it. My first "expensive" headphone... Now put down RM 5000 for a headphone oso I barely think much about it, just go for it oni. I like my ES7 very very much over many other more expensive dynamic headphones as mentioned a few pages back. The ES7 is really my kryptonite... QUOTE(Akabane@DrJackel @ Mar 1 2009, 11:48 AM) Heheh... that's actually good advice. Might as well go for the top straight, save a lot of $$$. We are gonna end up there anyway...
