To be fair, it is not particularly easy to replace the Nissan Almera's spark plugs.

The whole intake manifold needs to be removed before you can access the plugs.

If the price of RM150 which includes the plugs, I would say it is decent.

Not a rip off but decently priced. Probably the mechanic should be honest and inform you the procedures required to replace the plugs.

Engines like those from Honda and Toyota, workshops normally charges RM20 labour to replace spark plugs. These are very easy to work on engines which do not need to remove intake manifold.

It is really a nightmare to work the N17 engine.

Any idea how much an alternator cost for the N17? Just had it failed at around 90,000km. This car loves to merajuk here and there. Really a bugger.

It won't be a few k.. Should be just a couple of hundreds. But I am not too sure of the amount that's why I asked.

My father's Almera already replaced that last year @ 83,000km.

MCO the car keluar pattern again and the alternator went KO @ 87,000km.

The way the paste the sticker already is a tell tale sign that this is a fake product.

1 litre pack of Matic S normally cost around RM30. You'll need only 3 bottles.

Labour to change ATF usually cost an average of RM30. So total is around Rm120.

Change gear oil no need to reprogramme the ECU.

As for workshop, you need to ask around. Some do offer affordable labour charges.

My personal advice, avoid Almera like a plague. You will regret it.

My house has one and it have the most problems as compared to other cars in the house which are Perodua and Honda.

Nissan Malaysia cars uses many locally made Tan Chong parts. Their parts are not as reliable and long lasting as Nissan Japan parts. In fact, their quality seems to be weaker than even our local parts manufacturer APM.

Problems encountered:

Wheel bearing;
Cooling coil leaking gas;
Coil plugs;
Alternator;
Tensioner pulley;
Radiator fan motor.
Engine mounting.

Only the wheel bearing was claimed during warranty. The rest was replaced after warranty expired.

I believe many owners here had experienced these parts failure within 5 years of ownership.

After replacement, so far so good. Worth the money spent.

Looking at the damage, it is better to repair yourself. You'll save on the NCD later.

Not easy to find Monroe as most parts dealer carries KYB only.

Perhaps you can source for SACHS absorber. It's a German brand shocks and many said it offers better ride comfort than KYB.
