QUOTE(KenYoung @ Nov 11 2014, 04:37 PM) I totally erased phone and still the same....! Just to get to this thread used up 6mb via safari. Instagram view a few photos and watch 1 meipai video drained me 10mb! I keep restarting data usage statistics so it starts from 0 and and as I open an app or browse a bit just to Check its usage it goes up damn a lot... My i5 never had this problem even with latest ios, I think?! Wtf !! Usually 1gb could last me about 3 weeks.. Sometimes need to add quota a bit but on average is 1gb a month! Now I'm done with my 1gb in less than 12 hours! What the hel is going on??? Photos and especially videos are usually quite huge in size in comparison to text.

QUOTE(yukihatsu @ Nov 11 2014, 05:14 PM) Yes, for Instagram it's very possible that they are serving @3x images to iPhone 6+ users – hence the high bandwidth usage. Bottom line, it's down to user's web browsing habits and activities - you need to be very conscious (with some technical knowledge) to support and control.

Did you experience a lot of app crashes in between usage?
Check that your phone is not sending diagnostic dump to apple under Setting > General > About > Diagnostic and Usage.

You should probably connect your phone to WIFI for the time being and run packet sniffing to find out where those data packets went.

QUOTE(KenYoung @ Nov 11 2014, 10:30 PM) how do i run packet sniffing? i think if i dont run data... the current period also dont move too much.. This is likely to be caused by something running on the background. You need a computer with LAN and WIFI interface (laptop maybe). You can try connect in this way: Internet <--> Your Computer LAN interface <--> Internet Sharing via Ad-Hoc Wireless <--> iPhone Then run Wireshark on your computer. Remember to turn off cellular data first under Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data.

QUOTE(even_steven @ Nov 11 2014, 11:09 PM) File a complain to Maxis and ask them to give the data usage breakdown. Complain and complain and force them to waive charges/give discount for the weird data usage. Dont forget to mention MCMC and Tribunal Pengguna as well. Might not be Maxis. If you don't find and solve the root of the issue, are you going to do this at monthly basis?

QUOTE(keptronic @ Nov 12 2014, 03:48 PM) If your data is still draining after all the settings described by forummers, could it just be you experiencing something totally different..as in was your last phone smaller than the 5s ?..because larger screens do encourage higher data usage..hence it could be a relative matter for you... Link : http://cloudtimes.org/2013/11/20/bigger-sc...big-data-usage/That's an interesting share.

QUOTE(TenNix @ Nov 12 2014, 06:36 PM) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9HG9YQR7MMMobileReviews-Eh.ca uplaoded a video about this issue, showing comparison between 5S, 6 and 6 Plus. This sounds like a sensible explaination. Higher screen resolution = higher quality video/photo being played = more data needed. This post has been edited by da3shou3: Nov 12 2014, 09:52 PM
