Hi Samperth,
Thanks for the advise. They are about 2 inches. Their enclosure is about 1.5 feet x 1/2 feet. Planning to convert my 2ft x 2ft aquarium for them but i think that will be too big just for 2 small fellas. he he. . .
Luckily i haven't feed them any papaya yet. I fed them with sawi only but today they seems to get bored with it already. . the first 2 days, they like it a lot. ha ha . .i feed them once a day only. Is that enough?

Hi Sifu out there,
Need to find out something. I found that 1 of my star tortoise took some time to open up it's eyes. It will rub it few times to get it's eyes open. When i have a closer look, its eyes seems like got tears and it's eyelids seems like swollen compare to the other side. but later on, it looks normal a bit. Is this normal? or is this some disease?
Oh by the way, it still eats greadily.

QUOTE(uzairi @ Nov 10 2007, 08:08 PM) Sorry to hear that. Next time when u sun bath them, dont do anything coz u might forget. Just spend 30 minutes with them, 30 minutes is not that long and we need fresh air too. About the remaining star tortoise, it me be severely dehydrated. Try to soak it inside water and put a water bowl in case he/she wanted to drink. Btw, what kind of tortoise you're looking for ? I try to help you and see if there's any that u are interested in. Yah. . i am more careful now when sun bath them, I did soak the remaining star in the water and it is eating as normal now But the appetite is not as good as before.. Maybe lonely ..hahaha . . . I am thinking to add Sulcata, Red Foot, Yellow Foot and some other land tortoise into my collection. . But this will take time ... kena jaga pocket a bit . . will slowly add species by species . . I never realized that tortoise keepinh can caused addiction . . . This post has been edited by andrewnib: Nov 13 2007, 10:21 PM

QUOTE(afro_phoebe @ Nov 19 2007, 12:23 PM) I gave them the long bean, but seems hard to bite for them eventhough i cut them into very small pieces~ As for Sawi, they dont like to eat, put whole day thr, but they cant finish. Maybe you starve them 1 or 2 days, then feed them sawi. When they hungry, they'll eat it . .that's what i did to mine . .he he . . As for the pellets, I am using Sera brand called Raffy Vital. Anyone used this ? Rgds, Andrew

QUOTE(SAMPERTH @ Dec 24 2007, 08:28 AM) Reptiles keeping is not the cheapest of hobbies around !!! Yah . .i got to agree with that . . Depends on the type of the tortoise you are getting, some of the price might burnt your wallet when you first buying it but if think back and compared to other type of pet, i think it is cheap. The food we are buying for tortoise is cheap, say you can get a bunch of Sawi for RM1 and can last for a week. For fish, keeping, we have to travel up and down to get live food for fries and adults. . .take into consideration about the milleage and time, also compare to the care, tortoise consider need a minimum care, as long as the temparature and food is right, they do well with it . . For fish, we got to watch out the water condition and change water every now and then. . . So tortoise keeping is cheaper and easier i guess.... But anyway, at the end, it's all back to our satisfaction . . .

Hi Mentor Mentor , i have some questions here and hope can get some advise . . .. 1) Is Sweet Potato Leaves good for Star and Sulcata? 2) Is it a compulsary/necessity that all tortoise to discharge the white thing before the green stool? 3) Any Sulcata expert here? i need a lot of advise especially on their diet. Currently i feed it with sawi and sweet potato leave only. also i let it out to graze a bit on the grass (Cow Grass) ...As i read from the net, all the mentioned suitable food for sulcata seems hard to find . .
