Didn't want my RG Zaku II mono-eye to be pink. So I used a red Sharpie and a metallic silver gundam marker on the clear part instead. I think it turned out pretty nicely. No masking required.

Sometimes... there are things one should not start panel lining. 1/144 Zaku II tubes are one of them.

Zaku II WIP: Gave Char's ride some gold highlights.
![]() ![]() Also spent a good 10 minutes looking for that thruster that I thought dropped on the floor but ended up in the crevice between my chair's armrest and the cushion. Fuuuu.... The culprit ![]() |

QUOTE(:3mushy:3 @ Dec 23 2014, 10:28 PM) Personally, gold doesn't work all the time. Gold accent should be used on dark color kits, and sparingly on lighter-colored kits Same thoughts here, but it is Char's custom Zaku II. I think he deserves gold thrusters This post has been edited by boonhoong: Dec 24 2014, 09:45 AM |

QUOTE(fertzm @ Dec 26 2014, 10:55 AM) Yeah. I try, but unless I sand and paint, it's not going to go away completely. And, I'm not committed to spray painting This post has been edited by boonhoong: Dec 26 2014, 11:44 AM |

QUOTE(tcheric @ Dec 30 2014, 01:00 AM) Guys ... I am actually new in this ... Just got myself a HGBF Exia, and just noticed HG is so small !!! Try using gundam panel line markers and gundam markers to add color separation as required. You may need to do a lot of masking especially since it's a HG. RGs which are the same size as HGs come with eye-popping details, and I absolutely love them. I typically do a straight build, and accent areas that I think defines a particular suit with my gundam markers.Ok, my question is ... For this great effect at the spoiler up there, is it normally come with the packaging (MG? RG? or higher?) or you guys custom yourself one, looks awesome !!! Also please help help check my build below ... Esp the 2nd and 3rd pic ... How to improve this arh? Just standard build, no painting (no skill) My progress so far on the RG Zaku II. ![]() QUOTE(Nawar @ Dec 30 2014, 01:19 AM) practice remove the nub mark.. try see this site for tutorial Still can't call myself an expert at nubmark removal even though I've followed most of the tutorial. The dark colored parts are the worst.http://www.sggunplasociety.com/t1507-how-t...-painted-builds then panel line & decal.. see how you like it from there.. |

QUOTE(TheAdmiral @ Dec 30 2014, 09:18 AM) yes sanding will scratch the surfaces which is why 99% of the time after sanding u'll have to paint. RG comes with clear stickers, and even though I prefer the look of wet transfer decals, I have to say that the stickers take less time to put on.there is dry transfer decals and wet transfer decals, most MG will have either 1 (some hav both). Most of us prefer wet transfer and in the case where a model does not come with 1 and we wanted it really badly, we will go n buy aftermarket decals either by bandai or samuel decals. the same goes to hg, if u really want those decals just get the aftermarket 1s. |

QUOTE(tcheric @ Dec 30 2014, 10:06 AM) An easier method is to use a pencil eraser or your finger to go perpendicularly across the line to get rid of any excess.Step 1 ![]() Step 2 ![]() Step 3 ![]() Eraser gets sacrificed. This only works on unpainted surfaces. |

QUOTE(tcheric @ Dec 30 2014, 11:06 AM) I don't topcoat my kits much to the disgust of every modeler I know on the internet. I've never had issues with panel lines coming off. But, I don't have sweaty hands either, so maybe that's the reason. Anyway, I get them in the pose I like, put them in the case, and they don't really get handled a whole lot after that. The only reason I would do a topcoat is to give it a nice matte finish. I don't really have a place to do it in my house, but I do have a can of matte clearcoat on standby just in case. |
