"Green Man Gaming has been accused by some publishers, including CD Projekt, Activision, and Ubisoft, of selling unauthorized game redemption keys, as it is not an authorized key seller for these publishers. The company has responded that while it attempts to work directly with all publishers to sell keys directly, the company will sometimes need to use authorized third party vendors to offer keys for games from these companies, and insists that all revenue goes back to the publishers, with Green Man Gaming absorbing the cost of any discounts they offer. Following this, in November 2015, the company have placed information on each game's store page at their site to identify the source of the redemption keys, either through Green Man Gaming as an authorized reseller, or through a third-party reseller, in addition to when users can expect delivery of keys for pre-orders."

Guys, just be positive. Just buy from whoever gives you great service and fast CD key delivery. Been dealing with so many awkward forumers since nil days (different forum sector somemore!)... LOL after reading.

I don't even buy from GMG, why should I buy from a cd key reseller? Especially most key seller can't give me a warranty that the key is 100% legit. Plus, what's the point of great service and fast cd key delivery when there is no guarantee that it is a legit key with a chance that it is a stolen key? At the end, I rather pay more for a 100% legit copy than deal with cd key reseller than losing my whole account.

This is a thread to talk about Overwatch, not talking about how legit is a cd key seller. They aren't, and they will never be. When gmg is criticised by other major publisher, I don't see why should anyone trust a cd key seller.

Reminds me of insurance. There's the grey part (but more riskier) than what we have now which is just games. You know the cut right? Sure, I'll just deal cheaper prices that is legit enough. Most of the keys are barcode scanned from physical box they open anyway. Of course, what you meant is, the keys can be unused then problem comes if they can refund you or not etc.

But again, as I say, this world is round with many factors. Buying on retail doesn't mean everything is guaranteed  good service but out there.

Just like the burgers you sell on mamak stall can be better than McD or etc... So, yeah. That's how all things work!

what does THAT have anything to do with purchasing Blizzard's game via Blizzard? It means absolute confidence that if anything is wrong, by purchasing via official store (which is battle.net), you get the guarantee and full assurance that it'll be handled by Blizzard, without needing to go through UNNECESSARY third party, if any issues arise. Free of doubt, and free of unnecessary unwarranted concerns of third party dealings. Nothing is MORE LEGIT than the official stores themselves. Again, refer to the blue post. If you buy from retailers, the onus is on the retailer to support (and if you don't get the support, you're screwed).

I don't find any problem dealing with them for 5 years. Count me out from your statement. Yes, I'm ignoring it at best.

I don't know about you. I have been dealing with most of them for more than 3 years. I deal with retails and GMG like shop or up to G2A.

Overwatch, why not? Buy as long it works.

Never had issues with GMG before.. well since we got our own store on Steam, I don't even use it anymore anyway.

For Overwatch, hehe won a free copy from a contest on a discord server :3

Yeah. When in doubt avoid third party retailers. No need to go through them and avoid potential headaches. That's the way it should be. No risk (unless the official store itself is a risk), and definitely ain't "unpack from physical copy then gave the code digitally" .

Good for you, just dont cry or complain if you get scammed.

There is a reason why cd key sellers are untrustable, they are not official resellers which I rather buy from official channels than save a bit for a potentially problematic copy.

Buy from Blizzard piece of mind. Any CD Key issue easily resolved. Buy from 3rd party is alright as long the retailer is trusted and will replace your key.
Only thing that would suck if the retailer sell you a CD Key that's not legit and you get banned for playing progression based game now that would hurt because now you got to start all over again.
I bought from Blizzard because payment mode is easy and straight away can download and play the game. No need hassle with emails, H/P's and WhatsApp rclxs0.gif

whoa, didn't mean or expect to start this kind of discussion with my statement back then!

i apologize that i did not clarify further as to why i decided to not go for 3rd party and go for blizzard directly.

when i was deciding to buy overwatch from cdkeyplus or blizz, i asked my friends if cdkeyplus is legit. one of my friends told me his experience with cheaper 3rd party source. (take note that this is during D3 launch and that this is his first and only game from blizz) so what happened was, his account got hacked and hijacked, including his email. he contacted blizz but they couldn't verify the cd-key as that's the only thing he got from the 3rd party source. the CS from blizz like didn't want to do anything because they cound't verify that cd-key from him, and then that's it.

in the long run, i would prefer getting directly from blizzard will be a better option for a peace of mind.

but i did thought a bit more about it as i was reading through this thread.

in cases where you buy from 3rd party and your account and bnet email kena hacked/hijacked:-
1) you only have Overwatch in your account
basically if following my fren's case where they ask for serial number or something to proof that you actually own that game, say goodbye to your account lol!

2) you have purchased other games from blizz but Overwatch from 3rd party
in this case, i think you can safely use other game's verification to recover your account.

PS: but my fren's case was years ago where the bnet client was not set up yet. i assume that right now our bnet account is more centralised since you don't have to manually login as you run different game.
IMHO i think it should be quite safe to get from 3rd party seller. chances of getting hacked because of overwatch will be quite low or unlikely since there's no transferable items in overwatch.
the only thing you probably might worry about if the cdkey sold is not legit or in the wrong region (i am assuming some might be selling russia keys as russia tend to have cheaper game prices), IF blizz decided to do a check.

my thoughts here may be wrong since it's a lot of assumptions, but my friend's experience was real.

If you missed the GW2 hoohaa when people buying Heart of Thorns of G2A lost their entire accounts because the HoT keys were bought fraudulently via stolen credit cards.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comment...ized_resellers/

If potentially losing your entire Bnet account + all your other blizz games on it is worth saving a few yumchas worth of money, that's your choice buddy.

aye, fair warning.
though we aren't sure of blizzard's way of handling stolen cd-keys, besides, who reads the EULA? LOL!

as for me, i've only bought blizzard games from authorized seller, those selling physical box (one of the shops in Penang and the rest from impulse store. most of the time those are cheaper than digital copy. mind boggling. only recently i bought directly from bnet. (D3 RoS and now OW)

as previously stated, i got no confidence with the source from 3rd party seller who sells very cheaply, in this case, cdkeyplus. i didn't want to deal with crap problems later on because usually it's not worth going through that trouble from the money you saved, unless you are lucky you didn't kena anything haha!

i enjoyed this game a lot, i liked the lores and the stories, the idea and history behind this game. so i don't mind paying blizz the full retail price. i really want to get collector's edition (not for the statue, but for the other stuff and the box LOL!) but that's seriously way out of my budget right now sad.gif

Nah. I doubt you know Blizzard more than you know them. These market existed because they get it cheap from certain ways or loopholes with them. If not, how can business sustain if there's no market prices? Your another person who seems to lack business knowledge. Maybe the food your consuming is also part of the grey market. What say others? Gosh... As long it is legally proven, skip the fussy details.

Here's something for you to learn today. "There is more than meets the eye, bro!"

Regarding hack issue, I doubt that'll happen if you have handphone verification method and such. Talking as if all "grey part" is as grey as you think.

Just like saying a person is so good in their looks, they must be really good in their heart but no? Better get more mentality to win games in Blizzard.

I'll be rekt-ing most of you soon wink.gif

Digital keys sold are mostly by opening the physical box and selling it off on the web. It's not just for PC but 3DS , XBOX One and many more. So, please stop the viral buzz about it bad or what. Some of you here... Hahaha, speak for yourself then.

whatever u type there just dont make sense.

cd keys arent obtain from opening boxes and selling at cheaper price. if u actually run a business u would know thats not a smart way to do it.

there are ways to obtain keys and if you're a reseller, obviously u dont obtain your games at retail price. sleep.gif

keep it simple..if u value ur battlenet acc either u buy from bliz or their authorize resellers..or u just take the risk. serial keys can be obtain stolen, key gen, cheaper countries n etc...wat ever the method they use..if its not a reseller that bliz recognizes theres a small risk.

plus saving up that extra RM50 or so is not a big deal i think.
