the servers are inconsistent, USA, Aussie and SEA servers are covered under 1 region. in order words if SG servers are down you may connect to Aussie (100++ ping) and if both servers are full you may connect to USA (200++)
hence why you see wild ping, one game can be as high as 500, another 200, then another 100 and last but not least the fabled 15.
personally i find playing a game like this, is absolutely silly hence i play in asian servers that get about 60 ping
this is before unifi gets mad occasionally, their lines are somewhat throttled and in consistent, occasionally if the line goes sour your ping can shoot up to 500- 300 and stay there
considering that OW doesnt tell you where you are in, it creates a lot of confusion cause sometimes it maybe unifi, then other times its the server
About this, I am not sure if that's how the Blizzard servers work. Yesterday I played a game with someone in JB in a group.
Both of us are using Unifi and since we're in the same group, I would assume that we are joining to the same server. Strangely enough, my ping was around 198 and his was around 20.
Unless this game is absolutely bonkers about joining multiple servers to load up one session, I am not sure how can this even happen.
I think I'll switch to the Asian servers too if this keeps up. Lucky Odin Sphere Leifthrasir is coming out tomorrow. I really feel like abandoning this game now.
