QUOTE(koolspyda @ Nov 3 2014, 01:01 PM)
perhaps most liverpool fans have forgotten
Brendan Rodgers has a blueprint plan that in theory a system of play that better > a team that relies on good individual brilliance from 1-2 players.

FSG probably fancies this type of system. How often we are called Liverpool is only Gerrard/Torres, Gerrad/Suarez. it got a bit better last year with SAS.
But thats beside the point. great hardworking players and team work. He says even some young fellas are willing to go out under the trenches for the team (supposedly in references to players like downing or other lazy seniors etc)

He like players with good heart, hunger, showing determination...  Appas for one. (doesn't necessarily blessed with abundance of talent  whistling.gif ) ok. that's bad
Rodgers is adamant because he believes in his system. to abandon it means he is defeated. thats asking him to swallow his pride perhaps?  sweat.gif
*
If the team keep on outclassed and defeated by opponent week in week out (which is happening recent few months), then still care about the pride of manager?

The next 2 matches against Madrid and Chelsea will determine Rodger's fate at Liverpool...

I taught most won't expect anything from this 2 matches already.

Against midtable and relegation threatened team already so poor, what to expect from facing a team top in La Liga as a team top in EPL. sweat.gif

QUOTE(jacckl @ Nov 3 2014, 05:39 PM)
you cant spend over $100m, play like crap and expect no criticism. mu had lower points than liverpool, spend similar amount of $$$ yet there aren't that many fans criticise him. unless br lower his pride and make changes, anti-br will emerge soon.
*
League position of MU may identical to Liv situation, but their performance is far far better what Liv has shown and seems on the rise path, while Liv is like at spiralling down direction.

QUOTE(koolspyda @ Nov 3 2014, 05:52 PM)
well you said there is. I haven't seen it, I'm just asking who is calling for BR's head now. Thats all.
The criticism melted is for some sense in BR's tactical prowess (or lack of it), thats all
http://www.teamtalk.com/features/16129/954...s-not-Balotelli

I don't see any of us are seemingly with glowing tits in anger & calling for his head as you put it.

The team is not just winning but even in games against teams that are 100 million poorer in players (in squad transfer or probably even actual teams squads talent depth) we are dishing far far abysmal performance. Lets not even begin with against top teams

wth happen to liverpoolfc? it surely isn't because of sale of suarez, we played a good 6 or more games last season without the talisman & we were flying. We have sturridge in the begining of the season and beside the spurs games Liverpool is playing a team equal to relegation teams. uninspired, lack of confidence, no headway.
*
This the red statement is the sentiment that many fell disappointed about current Liv team, not just result issue alone.

Next week if loss to Chelsea (something highly expected based on current performance) and other midtable team get point/points, we may see Liv league position down to 15th, before international break. sweat.gif
In other word, near to relegation zone which similar to what happened when BR first come in.

and history may just repeat itself this season with LFC.
*
It seems likely for 3rd time.
Houllier finished 2nd with 80+ points, season after, form slumped drastically, then manager gone.
Rafa finished 2nd with 80+ points, season after that, form slumped, the sack.
BR, finished 2nd with 80+ points last season, form slumped,

The difference is money is not available for Houllier & Rafa to spent as big as BR after finished second.

i don't know, to me its kinda plan B (now)

Firstly, plan A work better with suarez (diamond formation), take that out of the equation (and now without strurridge) its kinda fall down faster than alice's deck-of cards.

We kinda of resorted to hoof it up to target man (at times), i suppose thats plan B (is it not?  sweat.gif)  So, it can be defended that his semi evolving Plan B doesn't work. (take that ye all rodger haters  tongue.gif )
Mr Rodgers, if you need a little pep advice how to deal with the Spanish powerhouse in Real Madrid (and later with mourino's chelsea), maybe you can secretly whatsapp mr rafa benitez. I think seƱor rafa will be ok with that.  whistling.gif

sweat.gif
*
If play with hoof up to target man, you need 2 strikers.
One flick the header, knock down, the other one waiting to get the knock down to get pass the defender and shoot on goal.
Just like Heskey/Owen combination.

Then this kind of hoof got use.

One striker, hoof up, head, nobody then to receive the knock down.
Even the striker manage to control and hold up the ball, the striker is backing the opponent goal, how to score?
Also, if hold too long by then already surrounded by defenders (as you only have 1 striker with 2 opponent CB to beat), unless have the ability to nutmeg the defender like Suarez, then I do not see how scoring chance can be created with 1 striker with ball hoofing up.

yeah, balo is like getting the ball on his feet and control then turn n run with the ball. he is not suarez, sterling n struj
*
You can see Balo so far 2 goals with Liv, that sums up what kind of striker he is.

You won't see Balo nutmeg defender, racing pass defender and score goal but more like those striker with one touch then tap in type, and long range shooter.

BR needs to look at the video collection of Balo's goals, see what kind of goal he scored previously, to cater the way Liv playing (if he wants to play Balo, or when he want to buy Balo time)

Can we still qualify? Basel thrashed Ludo 4-0
*
Yes, next match is the decider, win against Basel at least 2 goals, then qualifying is still within Liv hand.

As in CL when 2 teams locked on the same point time, head to head result is the decider, not goal difference.

So basically, next 2 match is a must win in order to qualify to next stage.

Need to win both games and hope Madrid don't screw us  up.

But we jsut need to win our 2 games before relying on Madrid.
*
Madrid result won't affect Liv chance of qualifying if Liv win the next 2 matches.

Basel at 6 points
Liv 3 points,

If Liv win against Basel, the level on points with Basel, if head to head result better, Liv top Basel.
So need to win at least 2 goals as Liv lose away to Basel at 1-0

By then win against Ludo, job completed, regardless the result between Basel and Madrid.

But at the moment, the team has goal drought crisis. Even win against the QPR, come from OG. sweat.gif

Providing Real Madrid beats Basel, i think.

Back to the game......in perspective with Barca losing here 3-1 recently, 1-0 probably feels quite good!
*
Don't need.

As if Liv win next 2 matches, Liv will be finish at 9 points.

While if Basel win against RM, Basel also will finish with 9 points.

So head to head result become the decider.
So the next match result against Basel is important.

At current team form, it is suicide try to play attacking game against in form RM.
Park the bus is the right strategy.

Keep it tight, then at least got chance to get a point. Sometimes, need to admit the shortcoming of own team and play accordingly especially against top team, you need right strategy and tactic to get a result, if not may be goal feast by opponent, which could be more detrimental to the team mentality.

If against Ludo, BR still put up the same strategy, then the criticism may be justified.

I would say, it was a right strategy by the manager.

Now the most urgent issue is for the manager to get the team right in league match, it is a group stage matches, not one off. So 3 points against Basel/Ludo is more important.

QUOTE(AnythingK @ Nov 6 2014, 08:16 AM)
I feel that too bro.

Last season fought so hard just to get into CL again, but when we are into it, BR decided to change overall formation and rest key players to concentrate on BPL.  rclxub.gif

Still remember last season before any game, be it any opponent, all the fans will expect a win with big goal margin, even when facing top opponent, the fans will only expect a draw only.

But this season, whenever we face top opponent, we only expect not to lose big margin, and when facing mid table team, we expect to get a draw only.

The mentality and morale had dropped so damn much.
*
The issue may be both, aka the manager depth as well as the depth of team (quality of the team).

Some manager perform well at midtable, at low expectation.
But when taking another step upwards time, then the deficiency in term of tactic may be exposed entirely.

Remember for BR, this is the
First taste in CL.
First taste in dealing big transfer.
First taste in managing a bigger club.

A "novice" in term of many front.

Until now, BR doesn't show shrewdness in term of tactic, always the same tactic, and formation favourism of 4-3-3/4-5-1.
You need tactical shrewdness to win in CL as well as against top team, Rafa has shown how to win against big team, despite having players that "inferior" to opponent.

The fear this time around is Liv being blown apart this time... sweat.gif

Anfield is not a fortress this season, also the team having goal drought at the moment, nobody seems can score a goal, so park a bicycle can do the job already.

This is just sad if it was done by a LFC fan.

I mean yes, he isn't doing well and the team isn't doing well, but this is totally unnecessary. We can criticize him in many ways, but having a banner like this. It's sad.

Anyway, I don't think this is done by a LFC supporter, and I don't think we should rally around it. It's totally not the Liverpool way. We make fun of them when they had Moyes. Rallying this around is a trap for us to get mocked.
*
This is a troll back last year.

Remember last year, a few Liv supporters put up "Moyes is football genius" banner?

QUOTE(sahathai @ Nov 9 2014, 10:46 AM)
Just a question, is the fee we paid for a player is handled by a manager like in fm game or is a manager with input from scouting dept only provide names of desired players then the fee (price) and contract will be handled by transfer committee n finance dept? Yes BR signings were mostly turn out to be a flop but in term of the absurd ridiculous price that we paid for them is for me not his fault. As for his tactical, thats another story
*
It is not defend-able disregard price tag is.

You target quality player that can improve the team when you have money to spend.

Now we see the summer transfer target

Lallana - hardly feature
Marko - hardly feature
Lovren - from the season start, performance is worst than Skrel/Agger/Toure, opponent striker easy turn him inside out, nutmeg, out of position etc.
Balo - not a striker suit to manager style of play.
Emre - don't know what actually his position in the formation
Lambert - I don't know what the purpose of signing if not going to utilise the player.

It is the manager fault, if failed to sign good players or players who are not suit to your style of play.

I do think it is better off with hire a director of football handled the transfer if the manager is unable to spot and sign quality players.
The transfer flop over the summer is taking the toll of the team.

I am not surprised if Liv finished at bottom half table if situation remains like that.

Sigh defence but did Liv put up a good fight at least?

What can you do to save Liv's season lol..
*
Only first 10 min or so.
Look promising when match started but quickly faded away.

Then same old disappointed tiki taka in between defender.
You know the same 4-5-1, with Balo lone striker strategy kind of performance.

The team simple has forgotten how to score a proper goal, QPR win (2 own goal + one deflected shot), then goal drought, yesterday, another fluke deflected goal)

If not Johnson 2 crucial block, first half could ended 3-1 already.
Defence is shaky throughout the match, despite Chelsea only played 1 striker.

JM gave a good lesson how to play 4-5-1 with lone striker. How to defend, how to press as a unit.

Didnt manage to watch the match, heard from twitter saying.. Migs did something stupid wonder what it is
*
The first goal was actually carried over the line by Mig.

Terry shot being blocked by Mig on the line and Mig did catch it, but body momentum (fall backward) that resulted ball just over the line.
If not goal line technology, then referree may not spot already over the line.

But can't blame Mig on the goal, he was already lying on the ground when saving magnificently on the first attempt, and the ball did have a lot of power with shot distance to react.

QUOTE(kevafk @ Nov 9 2014, 08:15 PM)
We only found out that he is overpaying, lallana was excellent last season for Soton he created chance out of no where. Of coz u cant compared with the S, he was quoted 95mil dropped to 65 because of his ban.

Over paying or not is depending his time here. Give him a few seasons, he made some magic win us a cup.. Hell 25mil for crucial time it is worth it. But yes atm no where can be seen.

New players for me i will give them time, as for BR ok fine he is now coming into 3rd season. He should know he cant rely on new players to shine. He needs to build last season's core players then add on step by step.
*
Overpaying is one thing, signing a player that can make impact to the team is another thing.

Even if the manager overpaying a player, let say A, at 30 mil (instead of market rate of 10 mil), but A did show good performance (even though not worldclass), at least A did contribute to the team to get a good result for the team.

So A signing still good one, just the price being overpaid. Still not that bad.

But this cannot be said with signing B (disregard 10 mil or 100 mil), who (is deemed by the manager who signed him and) being seen not good enough by the manager and most of time sitting on the bench (or not even on the bench) or contribute nothing to the team.
Even B cost 5 mil, it is still considered a waste if the signing is not improving the team.

QUOTE(carloz28 @ Nov 9 2014, 11:32 PM)
Fall into the wrong hands, time can erode and drag a club to a downtrodden state beyond repairable. If the rot is not identified and rectified immediately, the damage could be massive;
reputation and financial wise. I couldn't imagine where will Liverpool be at this point if Woy is given 3 years in Liverpool. We could have beaten Chelsea with relative ease OR .....We could be playing Yeovil Town yesterday in CC championship and still lost 0-3. Of course, these are just mere speculations, but whichever case it may be, given the intellectual horsepower of posters in this board, I'm sure you all were given the foresight to see which way we were heading under Woy,( hence the sack)

Fans often associate Liverpool's decline with Woy's tenure....but little do they know that Liverpool's decline actually began during Souness's era. Souness indeed fell short compared to his predecessors, although Souness started his Liverpool's management career reasonable well, it didn't took long for things started spiralling down. Liverpool fans, as gullible as they were, decided to dwell into their dreamy fairy tale stories, believing that TIME will turn the ugly duckling into a golden goose...and granted Souness the all fcking time he needs to turn things around. But eventually it got worse, by the time the management and fans realized the mistake and turned against him, the club has already fallen into a deeper hole.

While I do agree that time is needed to build a team, it has be viewed in perspective. You can't give a hammer to a carpenter and ask him to build you a claymore. You can train the carpenter LONG enough to become a blacksmith though, but he will be never be as good as the real blacksmith. And there's the time factor...how much time are we willing to give manager to build his team? 3 yrs, 5 yrs or 10 yrs?

A decent manager will never lost 3 matches on the trot, and would have turn things around after 10-12 games. As I'm typing this, Alan Pardew's Newscastle seems to have found its rhythm but yet Wodgers still wondering what went wrong with this Liverpool team. (despite spending 200mil and 2 years with the team)

Beef up the pillow and go figure.
*
I find that there were few similarity in the decline of a club from the past,
poor signing or questionable signing of new players as well as questionable tactic.

I wasnt replying ur post tho, i was replying someone used "pathetic". Just some how it was right after your post. He was indirectly replied my post maybe soi should indirectly do that.

Its been years ive defended the managers, time i have given them justified most of the time, ok cept for Roy. But Roy he wasnt given time also first year asking to win the league, CL etc would be quiet impossible for me.

BR = until end of the season, see where he take us
New players = at least 2-3 seasons to justify the "overpaid price"

Agreed most of what you said but i aint trying to say im a better than anyone is just an example saying that Liv never did win since 24years ago ure not immuned to all this? Im surprised.. This is getting old isnt it? Instead of complaining, why not get behind the club, players, managers, staffs etc..  And again im not trying to brain wash ppl here coz it does not gives me any benefit.

Smile~ heuheuheu

It is rare occasion after a club bought a player, then only turn out to be good after 2-3 years later except for youngster who at at teen or early 20's one who still developing.

Normally, a few months already can seen the result how good the new recruit is.
We see it from
Arsenal - Sanchez
Soton - Pelle, Tadic
MU - Di Maria
Chelsea - Fabregas, Costa.

So most of the time, when about half season has gone, and the new recruit still not performing, especially with high price tag one, 8/10 money is down to the drain already.
Even Carroll managed to make impact at the early stage with Liv.
