I got one complaint. The hand model looks so... 90's. Meaning it looks horrid. They really should get a better hand model.

QUOTE(victor_hoh @ Aug 21 2007, 12:15 PM) this is the first game I know where the big guys of the 3D graphics industry actually releases new driver updates for the game before the game even comes out. Looking at Take Two's track record, as well as the review ratings for the game, as well as the massive fan base BEFORE the game even hit the shelves, I'd say it'd be business suicide if the companies didn't do that |

The twitching thing gets taken to another level in STALKER. You can actually see the body do a boogaloo dance on the ground sometimes.

QUOTE(ZomgWtfHax @ Sep 6 2007, 09:59 AM) it's definately scarier than doom 3. Dunno la, no monsters, just mutated humans, maybe that's the scary part because they actually speak. And the sound effects if you play surround sound, then you will realize.... it is damn blardee scary esp that one part... when you pick up at an upgrade, a bit of smoke here and there, suddenly u turn.... a monster appears behind u trying to kill u with a pipe! it used to be scary until i realized i am immortal. technically at least. up until now i have yet to use any firstaid kits yet, or fired any shots. the wrench and vita chambers breaks the game itself. |

QUOTE(radkliler @ Sep 6 2007, 03:49 PM) Played it...lurve it.....The only thing I hate is the big daddies.... I don't call it hard when I can lure it to a vita chamber and use the die-respawn-whack cycle to kill it without wasting any ammo/eve/first aid kits. In fact, it is disastrously too damned easy. They are insanely hard to kill...Died about 4 times b4 manage to kill one |

QUOTE(ZomgWtfHax @ Sep 6 2007, 08:55 PM) Actually not really that hard. I usually use proximity mines / trap bolts. Or the old stun (lightning plasmid) and gun also works. However, lightning on water doesn't really hurt it. I upgraded the dmg of my shotgun so before i got the grenade launcher i usually stun and gun him in his face. Even better if you have the lightning buck. Armor piercing rounds also seems somewhat effective, but once u shoot him while he's stunned he'll be free. When you basically get the proximity mine / trap bolts, i think it's easy to reduce him to 20% hp in a couple of seconds... That's me. and to the guy who feels it's too easy due to the fact u're immortal, well make a personal challenge la. Try not to die, when you die then reload, that's what i do. Keep up the challenge or try new tricks. No need to use the vitachamber. Yea, i guess when you know you're technically immortal u tend to lose the scary feel. Well when I play games I tend to play it the most efficient way I can think of WITHOUT cheating, and this means exploiting bugs and so on occasionally, although I'm never very good at games Anyway, big daddies are not really that hard. You just need to find a good cover, duck in and out while sending pistol rounds flying his way, and sooner or later (with a few medkits and maybe a retreat to buy more pistol ammo) he's gonna go down. Sometimes the battle drag on for so long that I actually had splicers walking into our firefight and get toasted in the crossfire |

QUOTE(radkliler @ Sep 8 2007, 09:00 PM) Let me set u guys a challenge... Ok, give me your full respect. Actually I found that NOT saving them actually saves me more ADAM. Just do the calculations - every 3rd lil sis you get extra 200 ADAM, and a free tonic. Average these tonics cost 100, so in total you get 300. So how much do you get if you don't rescue them? 160. That's an extra of 80, and remember if you save 'em you get extra 100 per sister? That's right, rescuing them nets you an extra 20 per sister in the long run.If u complete the game without murdering a single Little Sister (after all the trouble I've been through just to kill a Big Daddy ?! No way in hell am I gonna let those little brats walk pass me alive)...I would give u my full respeck... Anybody fought big daddies on stairs? THe AI breaks down when it comes to climbing stairs. |

QUOTE(ataris @ Sep 10 2007, 10:39 AM) Can. Keep textures detail high, actor details high, turn off the rest except for direct x 10 shaders, shadow maps, high detail post processing, turn on force global lighting, and you'll get pretty much constant FPS if you've got at least 2GB of RAM.This post has been edited by soggie: Sep 10 2007, 10:54 AM |

QUOTE(slash @ Sep 10 2007, 01:47 PM) Well in "heavier" scenes it slowed down to 12-18 FPS, which made killing splicers with a shotgun a tad hard. With some of the heavier visuals turned off (namely reflections and distortions), I could play with a minimum of 25 fps.QUOTE(radkliler @ Sep 10 2007, 01:49 PM) Played through it second time...feeling kinda malu for killing the sisters now... Aww, you evil sonnabiatch! I got one gripe tho... how come I can't use the Rivet gun since... you know, near the ending I become one of them? But ending for not killing any Little Sister damn cheesy IMHO. 'Jack ,would u kindly give me back my life?' *Walks over to my house and smashed my HD into bits and breaking my DVD in half* |

It's called the Gatherer's Garden. Looks like a huge vending machine flanked by two large Little Sister figurines. You won't find it until later though, so just keep it along with the electroshock. The only two plasmids that I've found usefull through the game.

QUOTE(radkliler @ Sep 23 2007, 10:48 AM) Hypnotize big daddy is great fun coz u can conserve both ammo and EVE since the big daddy will do most of the fighting for u Actually, that's what happened in Neptune's Bounty. And the Hep-whatever reactor level. In neptune, I kinda crawled underneath the dock planks and fired shotgun blasts at the BD, until I got fed up of the constant hiding. I just got out, choose a big plank of metal as my cover, and began the electroshock-fire-duck cycle. A huge wastage until I resorted to wrench-vita tactic for the next 3 BDs.And the second tactic looks like a coward tactic IMHO...no offense man |

Not sure if you guys notice this "bug", but if you get too close to a BD (especially the Ranged ones), he won't be able to hit you? What I did was grab a wrench, go up to the BD, keep on pressing forwards (stick to it), and swing the wrench full speed (with bloodlust on). Out of the 10 times it tried to hit me, only 3-4 connects, and by then I'm already fully healed from the life I leeched using bloodlust. Fun way to take down a BD... but doesn't work everytime tho. 7 out of 10 times will work, which is good enough for me.
And if everything fails, you still have the vita-chamber... |

QUOTE(Vorador @ Oct 19 2007, 11:39 AM) Hey man it doesn't work, I do as you said (I using Vista 64 bit) anad when it finish, the properties shows my card became "GeForce 6100"... I have to roll it back... Nvidia don't support video cards on the notebook because the notebook vendor is supposed to do that. And in the real world, anything that is supposed to happen, won't. So visit this website and follow the guide to updating your video drivers on your notebook. It's simple and easy, just follow the tutorial. |
