Well, for me running Core2Duo 2.2GHz, 8600gts 256mb and 2gb of RAM, with all the settings on high (but AA turned off), I don't get acceptable frame rate at 1680x1050 (my monitor native res) ... bioshock really has some high requirements for it to look kickass AND have smooth framerate ...

Yeah. Problem is though (and this pisses me off) ... if I scale down to a 4:3 resolution (1024x768 etc), then when stretch to fill the screen it looks weird (cos of widescreen monitor).

But then if I scale down to a widescreen resolution, when I stretch for some reason my monitor stretches horizontally but not vertically ... so looks even more weird.

Apparently for Bioshock, when u play widescreen instead of "adding" to left & right, it cuts off top and bottom and then zooms in. There's a 3rd party hack for it but then I didn't bother using it cos honestly, if I didn't read about this on the web I also wouldn't have noticed.

I found the first big daddy to be the most "gan-cheong" one. Mainly cos virgin daddy, and he's the type that charge at you all the time make you really really have that "oh sh*t" feeling.

Later on I still get it when i open a door, see a little sister, glance at upper left corner see only got 2 first aid kit and 1 hypo ... then I will have the "oh sh*t" feeling, hahaha.

The scaling of the enemy difficulty is a bit off, imo. The last few levels I didn't even bother hacking any of the vending machines for cheaper loot cos my wallet already always full. Ammo also no problem at all ...

BD also once u have enough upgrades, is just a piece of cake. Electro bolt followed by 4 electro shotgun blasts = half life gone. Electro bolt again, run around the corner to reload shot gun, another bolt + 4 shotguns = dead BD without losing a single life.

Or you could just electric gel him to death ... and with the u-invent stations u never have lack of electric gel ... too easy.

Storyline was satisfying, although the ending (I got the good ending) was ... hmm ... anti-climax. Play so hard, get a 1-minute long cutscene? Zzzzzz. Oh and if you got one ending and want to know what the other is, just go youtube and watch.

Any of you on XP SP2 and widescreen monitor?

My widescreen native res is 1600x1050 (16:10) ... under Vista I could select 1280x800 (also 16:10) for proper full-screen stretching.

However in XP SP2 there is no 1280x800 option, so I either play 1680x1050 (vid card can't handle it), or a normal 4:3 aspect. Manually setting 1280x800 in the ini's doesn't help either.

Using 8600gts with the latest nvidia beta drivers.

Each level has a fixed number of little sisters, at the level loading screen it will show you how many. If you haven't already rescued/harvested all for that level, you can follow a big daddy and eventually he will go knock on a hole and a little sister will come out.
