So it's impossible to have a Z5 with custom GPU then?

QUOTE(Prince J @ Nov 3 2014, 04:59 PM) As i have mentioned, there might be NO MXM GPU starting from 2015, why you still need a laptop with MXM GPU slot? All laptops are not upgradable in future. Oh no, this one is different. In one of your posts in the the Illegear thread, there was a customer who upgraded his soldered on GPU, which was posted in the illegear threadQUOTE(Prince J @ Oct 20 2014, 04:01 PM) To what extent can ILLEGEAR upgrade your laptop? GPU is soldered on board = GPU cannot be upgraded? Wrong! Our customer has just upgraded his Nvidia GTX 765M to GTX 860M on his ILLEGEAR RE-15. That's why my interest is piqued since the Z5 only comes with GTX860 setup![]() ![]() |

QUOTE(mingxun112 @ Dec 9 2014, 12:31 PM) Temperature, or day to day situation, etc. Some people refuse to believe the z5 is the definitive, undisputed better "alternative" to the other laptops that are within the same price range. |

QUOTE(martin5516 @ Jan 10 2015, 04:04 PM) if I read right, supposedly, not that big difference (on paper), 45%-50% higher than the 860M, and slightly better than 870M.Not bad lah. On SLI mode it's supposed to be better than 980M, but then rule of the thumb: never trust SLI scores on real life performance. |

Illegear is Clevo, that's why I go with them, at least proven reliability (because Clevo is top notch)
as for your GPU, try look at your GEFORCE EXPERIENCE / NVIDIA PANEL. mesti ada yang tak ngam punya. i found that out the hard way when I was modding for skyrim on my RS-15. Optimus was at fault. something called the d9dll file or something. This post has been edited by hyperyouth_firepower: Feb 4 2015, 03:55 PM |

TN panel > IPS panels when it comes to response times. So i'm not going to get too worried. Besides, you can self order the screen if you know which model and manufacturer. Shipping on the other hand, is a real headache.

Yeap. Illegear versions have a different heat pipe compared to the other ones. The pics show that (and if you look carefully they aren't exactly the same)
However, just to point, users, do check your units. After all, that's WHY you buy an Illegear. Its self-serviceable. (just don't do funny things to it, or else warranty void) |

QUOTE(V-Zero @ Feb 5 2015, 09:01 PM) My Z5 comes with the AHVA/IPS Matte screen. Nice. I'm a competitive level CS:GO/Dota2 player, never had issue with response times, issue lies in my response time instead. |

QUOTE(xarive @ Apr 8 2015, 11:45 AM) Back in 4 years ago I am a try-hard Rainmeter fan on my desktop. I customize every details of every gadgets myself, post my work in DeviantArt. I just started, but I'm wondering if it actually works for laptops. I've tried some skins but I think I failed hard because the sensors for the temps and etc wont' work. |

you know, my impression of the Z5 isn't as good as it was, which led me on a price point basis some products were better (if you're taking the 860M version, priced at Nov-Dec 2014)
But then, seriously... What the reviewer did was just plain dumb. I wrote a response, but I suppose that's what they want. A controversial tone so that people engage the reviewer, therefore generating more hits at the expense of a poorly done, lousily done, bad review. |

QUOTE(miong93 @ May 9 2015, 09:43 AM) You're using Windows 8 or 8.1 right ? If I'm not mistaken, there is an issue in Windows 8 or 8.1 regarding this. Try searching Google to see if there is a fix. Well, I both agree and disagree.» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I think there is no point for us to be so angry. If there are less user, it doesn't matter us also. People will judge it once they actually use it for a long period of time. The review doesn't matter to be honest, it is not from a reputation reviewer also. I will go for LINUS or similar reviewer to get a better non biased review. If people feels that Z5 is not a good machine after reading it, they just miss out one very good laptop, that's all. We didn't loss anything from it, we can actually laugh at them for missing out a good option. haha But I do agree, when I first receive my Z5, the hinge and the material really don't impress me. It feels cheap and not solid enough. That is my first impression, but after using it for about 6 months, it is pretty good if you manage your laptop well. P.S: The reviewer clearly doesn't know what to review about the laptop. If it is linus, he will at least mention its sub-woofer, gaming temperature, customize-ability, battery etc etc. P.S.S: There is also one thing I agree with the reviewer, the USB port tends to have issue when I'm connecting to external HDD. It will keep disconnect and reconnect. Prince J is this normal ? I remember I had pointed it out to you when I visited you at Damansara to have my screen changed to IPS. That time I'm using an external optical drive to show you. If you look at this forum as a benchmark, there are a lot of associated problems with the Z5, particularly when it comes to USB and some static noise, that is. What I think should be addressed, if the writer really want to "taruk", can be something like "just look into our forums and see how people complain!" (not like no complain, even I complain. LOL) this one it says "its not as cheap as Acer Nitro V, and not as bling bling good like Alienware..." I'm like... dafuq? Is there a "MAINSTREAM" manufacturer that gives high end blinged out gaming specs with dirt cheap price (I know ada lubang kiri kanan, if you can get lubang from Clevo very nice also).. but? retailers prices can't match that, can it? |
