Hmm.. I'm getting a Illegear Z5.. do you think paying extra 700 bucks to upgrade GTX 960m to GTX 970m worth it?
Or stay with 960m?
Need some professional review XD

QUOTE(thegogoman @ Mar 30 2015, 11:34 PM) QUOTE(Amal @ Mar 30 2015, 11:49 PM) Worth it. I see.. But the price differences it's about 700 GTX 970M is much2 more faster than GTX 960M. Around 50 to 80 percent faster, depending on games. And I'm not a hardcore gamer.. :\ somehow it's still very tempting.. is there anyone own a 970m beast? |

QUOTE(Amal @ Mar 31 2015, 12:41 AM) Depend on ur usage and how long you want your laptop to last. Some how the performance is about 30%-50% extra, current version is GTX 960m 4g GDDR5 RM4.2k upgrade to GTX 970m 4G GDDR5 is 5k.. Actually is rm800 extra about 18% of the price..What is the price for the GTX 960M version? Let say if I follow the current GTX 860M, which is RM3.8k. RM700 from RM3.8k is about 18% more expensive, for an additional 50%-80% increase of performance. But if you think that RM700 is a big additional amount for you, and you have other things that you need the money for, then GTX 960M is still ok. But how long would it last for GTX 970m compared to GTX 960m..? |

QUOTE(Amal @ Mar 31 2015, 02:39 AM) This is from Notebookcheck : That's so true! Thanks alot for your information Graphics card Overall performance (Ultra-preset) GeForce GTX 980M +104 % GeForce GTX 970M +64 % GeForce GTX 965M +15 % GeForce GTX 960M Base GeForce GTX 860M Maxwell -8 % GeForce GTX 860M Kepler -17 % http://www.notebookcheck.net/Nvidia-GeForc...w.137893.0.html So in average GTX 970M is 64% faster. How long it can last is depend on what game, and what settings that you consider is acceptable. Some people don't mind playing at low settings and low resolution, some do mind going lower than a high settings and 1080p. An acceptable frame rate is usually around 30fps and above. So let say the GTX 960M can get 30fps, means that a GTX 970M can get around 49.2fps. So let say the GTX 970M can barely get 30fps in the future. This will translate to only 18fps on the GTX 960M. |

QUOTE(miong93 @ Mar 31 2015, 02:20 PM) Z5 with gtx970m is tempting, but I would wait for review first. The main reason I bought my Z5 is because of its cooling. There is benchmark conducted by ILLEGEAR that show Z5 with 860m has great cooling. Try ask them about the cooling with gtx970m first. True.. imagine me using half way and overheat.. it's gonna be horrible..I would not rush to get a product which cost about 5k and in the end get something which doesn't meet my expectation. (Yes I know a lot is rushing to make an order because of GST they told me the machine haven't be tested out yet.. but they say should be good. hmm.. shall i wait? I alr paid full price for the machine. Hahaha |

QUOTE(miong93 @ Mar 31 2015, 03:29 PM) Since you already paid for the product, what for to worry about it now Yea.. Will let you know when i got my z5. cheersQuite unlikely they will give you a full refund. So just hope it is not so bad. I think it will be around 70 - 85 degree C when under full load. If it goes beyond that, it is really bad IMO. |

QUOTE(Arvinaaaaa @ Mar 31 2015, 04:07 PM) No bro..just gonna stick to my gtx860 z5..although its kinda tempting But the performance between 960m and 970m has a huge difference. My point is z5 with gtx970m is not worth it imo..coz can get s5 with triple heatsink and fingerprint scanner and thinner and bla bla..so why want to get the z5 with 970m???? Z5 with 960m is ok.. This is my opinion la |

QUOTE(randytsx @ Apr 5 2015, 09:47 PM) For the layman, if you don't have a 802.11ac router, there is no need for a wifi-ac card (802.11 is another name for Wi-Fi). More details about the differences here. I'm jealous right now.. Waiting for my unit to arrive Most people around here have only up to 802.11n routers anyway. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just got the two new Z5s we ordered last night. I bought mine mainly for development instead of for playing games, but here's my Z5 running Divinity: Original Sin at Ultra settings. ![]() I'm pretty much loving this. The cooling system is pretty much what I need in a laptop like this. I left my laptop turned on doing all kinds of stuff since I received it. I haven't turned it off yet, not even once. But I don't feel much heat coming from any side of it at all, only very slight warmth at the bottom. The bottom pane feels a bit flimsy at times, but I really like how easy it is to open it up. Definitely will recommend it to others. Will buy again in the far future once this laptop has worn out. All the best, Illegear! Currently the intel AC7260 is out of stock Wondering when will my unit arrive.. Prince J This post has been edited by Cloud2322: Apr 6 2015, 12:17 AM |
