Hi everyone,

My office just got broken into today, and a total of 4 laptops & 1 iPod were stolen:

NOTE: All notebooks did not have their powercords stolen, only the notebook alone.

A police report has been made and CCTV footage has shown two mid 20's local indians as the suspects. According the police who saw the footage, he believes that they belong to a syndicate who has been hitting offices around the PJ area. They're usual M/O is:

1. They will pose as contractors, messengers, interviewees to gain access into the office and begin scouting the area.
2. There's usually more than 1 of them.
3. They will strike when they expect the office have the least amount of ppl (e.g: during lunch)
4. They may strike the same office several months later.

If you have any information regarding a notebook for sale that you suspect may have been stolen from us, please do us a favour by contacting us immediately:
Phone Number: 016-212 3930
Email Address: stolen.office.equipment@gmail.com

There is a reward, of course.

i know this maybe the wrong place to place such a help item, but i am hoping that i'll b lucky enough to hear from someone abt this.

Thank you!

JUST LIKE WHAT HAPPENED TO MY OFFICE LAST WEEK.
Last friday, 29th of August 2008, when all the men in our office went to friday's prayer, an Indian guy in his twenties came to our office saying that someone from our office called them to service our air-cond, he then showed us an envelope with the name of the person who's in charge of the office maintenance, (who was unfortunately not in the office that day to verify this guy) saying that this person need to sign the letter after they finished the work. we never checked the contain of the envelope. He then went from the first floor until the third floor, and he said the third floor,(my floor) need to change gas/oil/whatever so he asked us to go out of the office for a moment, so we just went downstairs, the 2nd floor, we kinda suspected something fishy, so we left the 2nd floor's door opened so we can monitor whoever coming up or down. after almost an hour without any noise whatsoever, we went upstairs to find 6 laptops missing, the power cords still there, but the laptops were all gone, including mine cry.gif cry.gif
According to my superior, the same indian guy came to see him and asked for the person in charge for the office maintenance, so my boss gave him that name, that's how he got the name one the envelope. sad.gif
All of the missing laptops contain works as far as a year back, mine got a project that we're going to close this week, but because of this incident, we have to postponed it. Damn those thieves! At the time there were only me and my colleague in the third floor, i guess it was our fault for being too careless. i'm still feeling like a f***ing dumbo thinking how that guy fooled us. huhu.
Anyway, for others, just be warned, like the police said, this kind of things must have been from a syndicate. My office is located in putrajaya, where the police patrol the area every 10minutes, and this thing still happened. doh.gif

This is the list of the items stolen:

Time/location stolen: Friday, 29/08/2008 1.00 pm - 1.30 pm

what's important is the content of those lappies, reward will be given of course.
Really, really hope we can see these laptops again. icon_question.gif icon_question.gif icon_question.gif icon_question.gif icon_question.gif icon_question.gif icon_question.gif

Just to add to the thread, somehow, I've bought a stolen item. Bought this item in Nov last year and I just realised this yesterday when trying to service the item. I was told by the service centre that the item was reported stolen, so what I did to cover my ass is to report to the police and get in touch with the rightful owner. The item has been returned back to the rightful owner today .. exactly a year since it was reported stolen .. so chances to get your item back is quite high if you:

1. Report the stolen item to the police, they wouldn't do anything but you need this to pass it over to the customer service.
2. Report the stolen item to the company's customer service.

Yes, you need to have serial number .. most company will ask for serial number before opening any service ticket.

Lesson learned to me .. DO NO TRUST LOW YAT forumner BLINDLY... get receipt, proof of purchase etc when you buy something .. anything sold without the original box, user manual or incomplete accessories mostly are STOLEN GOODS/ITEMS.. BEWARE!!

My SE Z610i (Pink) was stolen last Saturday (13 Sept) in Melaka.
It's covered with a soft silicone case and has pink Mickey Mouse phone strap.
I dont care what happen with the phone, I just want my pictures and everything inside, it's very personal.
The most important is, my phone strap, I bought it at Tokyo Disneyland, very sentimental value to me. Please help.

this is a warning to all lyn forumers.
for huawei e220 modem, please beware of stolen maxis logo modem.
if they are legal goods, they will have individual letter (with IMEI number) that mention the release of that modem.u can confirm with maxis with what i mentioned here.
for lyn forumers who bought the stolen modem, plz note that ur modem might be locked (somehow)without notice and wil be totally malfunction.
in short, beware of super duper cheap maxis logo huawei e220 modem, especially those ppl who only has a few units to sell.

Don't think others will do so as everyday got so many items stolen, better get the serial number and check with the related service center (might not be 100% accurate provided the owner reported the case before).

Not too sure if the service center willing to provide this type of extra service? tongue.gif
